HAHA! YES! too funny
Epic! Really glad you named G3 THE Advanced Switching System (TASS) and not just Advanced Switching System (...)
Hahahahah
I’m waiting for you to implement the Frequency Adaptive Ratio Transducer. Maybe for G4?
I'm trying to imagine the development process. Keeping the logic simple must have been a monumental task. Congratulations on your success.
Thanks so much 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel So would this spill-over be possible for a distortion as well? Because that's always a problem when going from a heavy distortion in say a chorus back to a clean verse tone.
This IS the best thought-through pedal looper
Thanks so much 🙏
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
This is such a problem solver! Very cool!!!
gamechanger!
Thanks so much 🙏
Maaan, finally all the best of Boss ES8 meets all the best of G2,, this is the perfect switcher beast at least for me. Too bad it’s too late and now I’m poor
Thanks Dandy 🤓👍
So no more Special Functions to remember? The menu is a great addition, often found myself having the reference back to the manual before! Parallel functionality is awesome! How did Mick take to the addition of menus and scrolling?? 😂😂
hahahah, actually pretty well
I have 2 questions. 1st. how many loops can you have in parallel?
2nd. Can you split the signal in two chains, and have parallel loops in each split?
Amazing! Great work GigRig! So, no volume insert? More info on options for connecting a volume pedal, running wet/dry and/or more than 2 amps would be great...
Sure thing. The volume insert is just another loop, so we put them all together to give you 12. So just connect it in the chain wherever you like 👍
Can you put stereo fix in parallel? For example a stereo delay and a stereo reverb so the delays don’t run into the reverb?
Absolutely, it’s exactly what this was designed for 👍
Hello Daniel and congrats for the new G3, it has everything this time! I have a question about parallel, I tend to use parallel to blend the dry signal with one effect, like electric mistress, is this doable? In other words, is it capable of doing parallel to only one loop blended with the dry path? If yes, can I do this in more than one loop at the same time? For example Dynacomp @ loop 1 (parallel with dry) and Electric Mistress @ loop 6 (parallel with dry). Is there a wet/dry amount blend option? Thanks in advance! :)
So to set up a wet dry type deal where wet effects are only going to one amp (rather than chorus to one and phaser like you show here) is it just a matter of turning on the parallel path, adding effects to the parallel path but not the main path (or indeed vice versa) and selecting the 'no join' option?
Bingo!
can you paralel a drive and mix the amount of drive in with a clean sound, then have the delay for instance on the clean path only. but blended back to a single amp at the end.
Hello Dan , is it possible to have two stereo effect in parallel with G3 , for example Eventide H9 and Bigsky ? or i will have to used my wetter box if i want to do this ?
Hi Daniel, thank you for this amazing controller and video explanation. Is it possible to run a wet/dry/wet rig using solely g3? I am thinking of having distinct dry loop and wet loop and in the wet loop running delay and reverb in parallel. Do I need an additional splitter for this, or can G3 do it all?
Hello Daniel! My question seems too simple, still I can't find an answer in the video. A split signal that runs parallel and is not joined but runs into two amps: how do I select in which chain/to which amp a pedal goes? You did the parallel thing, but I couldn't see, if theres a setting in the menu. Thanks so much!
I would like to know the answer to this question also! In summary, what effect(s) I'm sending to the amp 1 signal path, say the modulator, and what I'm sending to amp 2, say the chorus. My guess is that because these are post gain, the signal path is specified by selecting output 1 or output 2 on each effect's loop. Am I getting warm?
It seems to me that a Wetter Box” or at least something similar is integrated into G3. I know that for Wet-Dry systems pedals with analog dry through are preferred.
I have an H9 (no analog dry through) that I really like and use for sessions. Does this mean that I could use it with G3 in a W/D configuration without any latency issues?
Exactly this 🤓👍
If I have a Stereo Pedal (TRS Cable) in Loop 8, for example, can I still use the 're-order' function to move it before a Mono Pedal in Loop 4, for example? Would the GigRig just sum the stereo signal to mono before placing it before Loop 4?
Once you have a stereo loop, it’s in parallel, so if you move a stereo loop from the end of the chain to the middle, you are changing the split point for the parallel line 👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Hey Dan, and can I have a stereo delay to got R to A amp A & L to amp B or Sum L&R to either Amp A or Amp B? does the question makes sense? :) thanks so much for the awesomeness!
Is it be possible to run two separate effects loops from either two amps and/or load boxes with an effects loop (boss tube amp expander), and then rout them to the corresponding outputs? Would it be 7 cable method?
Yes! 👍
How many effects can you run in parallel? (Please say 6)😁 And is the volume pedal pre or post effects or adjustable?
You can run all 12 in parallel, or 6 on each side, correcting for any phase issues at the join, or send them to the separate outputs 👍
G3 ordered! Is it possible to have parallel paths split into L and R stereo pedals? E.g. split through vibrato all the way to wet amp without rejoining but run dry and wet parallel splits through left and right of dimension C and Echosystem?
How are you liking the delux reverb? Last year when still gigging I got the chance to use my brothers deluxe for a few gigs and found it very usable, it was like a superreverb without taking the heads off every one within a 200meter radius but still with a similar tone !
Yeah, it’s really great, still need to try the hand wired one though
Daniel TheGigRig Id say they are up another notch again! To be honest I’d like one day to get even a standard delux to pair up with my ac15 (blue alnico speaker) I got from my brother for doing some work on his old 205gti ! Thank god for the good oul barter system eh 😜
@Dan is it possible to adjust the levels of the parallel mixer sides let’s say if you were trying to add analog dry to a digital pedal...?
Hi Dan, here’s a question I got on my mind which is the decider for a board build including the purchase of the G3. I love the sound of a whammy pedal glitchy octave up + dry signal. The ricochet does this great however if I used a whammy 5 and wanted to parallel that pedal with my dry signal on a preset basis is this possible? A 50/50 blend of whammy and signal up to said point in the chain. But what’s important is this isn’t a global set up as I may wish to do whammy fx 100% without the dry signal. Is it possible? Thanks
Hi Billy, yes, one preset you can mix the ricochet with a dry signal, another you can have 100% ricochet. Cheers mate 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel absolutely great news! Time to order a g3s & rack kit! Thanks
How much to duplicate that board? Great step up from my omen gec 9 board
Really worth every penny!
Question:
If my Preset 1 in Bank 1 has a Delay from the Strymon Timeline and I would like to copy the whole preset (means the G3 settings of Loops, Gains AND the Strymon Delay from this preset) to Preset 1 in Bank 2, is there a simple copy function or do I have to set all parameters (gains, which loops active, etc.) manually on the new preset?
Thanks for your help.
Something tells me that Dan actually would try having 12 different delays on his board. Of course, if you had the TC Flashback Triple Delay in every loop, who knows how many delays you could have on your tone.
@Dan are the two inbuilt mixers stereo or mono? Just wondering if I was to put a dd500 into a loop set up stereo / kill dry and be able use g3 for analog dry through and still be able to add analog dry through to me line6 m5? No need to do trails via g3 as the dd can do that!
Hey guys, How does changing your loop order in the g3 effect the spit "before or after"? Does it still treat the loops sequentially or is it recognizing the new chain? Does "before 6" mean loop 6 or the 6th pedal in the new oriented chain?
Loop order and split are separate, so if you have a loop order 52876 and split after the 2 it will be 52(split)876 👍
Will it take line level signals (+4) from rack/stomp effects that support line level? Or all signals must be instrument (-10) level?
Really does look amazing Dan. Currently I'm running G2 and maxed out loop wise including 2 Remote Loopy's via TRS adding an extra 4 loops. Daft question, can G2 talk to G3/Atom in the same way that multiple G2's can be paired together for more loops or is the firmware/software incompatible between the two? Can multiple G3/Atoms be run alongside each other? Only reason I ask is that I'm running wet/dry/wet with two amps that I'd like to incorporate channel switching into the board but think I'm asking too much of the single G2. I'm also running several stereo delay and reverb pedals that I'd ideally have running via the two wet amps' FX loops to avoid muddiness of delays and reverb into the pre-amps. Only issue is they're two different brands, a Friedman BE100 and a DSL100 so I guess I couldn't do the Andy Timmons trick of running one pre-amp into another on his Mesa Boogie's? Cheers and really well done again, awesome work!
Cheers Richard. G3 will sync to G3/2 via midi 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel Cheers Dan, thanks for the reply. One more daft question (ok maybe a couple). On Atom, to run the stereo pedals I guess I'd need a stereo TRS cable for each loop? If I put Atom downstream of G2 via midi, would I benefit from the parallel/wet dry option only on the loops of the Atom or those on G2 as well? Sorry for the daft questions, the rig has grown somewhat and (via several rabbit holes) has increased in complexity somewhat. Thanks again, Rich
Can you have 2 stereo pedals in parallel? And if you put a stereo pedal before a mono pedal, does it sum both outputs to mono or just use one of the outputs, effectively having just half the effect?
Stereo parallel will be available in an update 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel awesome 🙂 what about when the stereo pedals are before mono?
@@TheGigRigDaniel I know this is old, but has this update come out/been released? I just received my new G3 Atom, but I've been unable to get anything working properly in parallel. I use it only for the wet side(s) of my w/d/w setup, with all stereo pedals (delays/chorus/mods, etc) - in any case, anytime I go in parallel, I seem to lose stereo. Almost seems like it's sending a dry mix to one wet amp, and the wet effect to the other.
Hi Dan, is it possible to set up different parallel settings, means for each preset another parallel sut up? Same question regarding the spill-over function.
Will it be possible to control the mix with an expression pedal as can be done with the Wetter Box?
Hi Michael, not at the moment but if you have a volume pedal you can include that in the wet side of the chain and blend it in that way 🤓👍
Would it be possible to switch amp channels with g2- trs or midi?
Yes, both of these
Whilst my credit card gently weeps. What Schmidt array board is that as it looks like I’ll need one of them as well?
I’m terrible with the names of them. Contact Martyn at SA, he knows which one I use 🤓👍
it can be possible to put 'no join' and just send the trials on the 'wet' amp? just the right channel on the setereo for example? or can be possible to send the two channels (timeline in stereo) to the wet amp only?
Yes, as long as the preset you are trailing over is parallel no join 🤓👍
Why can't they make it wireless and put it on stage with the pedalboard by the amplifiers like a command center instead of having the entire pedalboard in front??
Have a look at out Extension kit, it means all you have up front is the controller 🤓👍
Hello
Can I use the parallel join function after my stereo pedal loop as a summing function?
Just in case if I have one amp only with my stereo setting.
Thank you.
I was beating my head with this question myself,... and I found a way tp do it... , had to think this through and test loads of things, but it is doable,... not sure if this is meant to work this way, or it is just a fluke, but I have found a workaround.... so,.... loops 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 are my mobius-timeline-bigsky, connected in stereo,.... but set to mono loops in G3,... so not stereo pairs,.... so, what I did here,... I just treat them as separate effects,... like I have 2 mono delays, 2 mono reverbs,.. etc,... and I just connect them in parallel...... so loops 7-9-11 in parallel with loops 8-10-12 and just sum them together after loop 12.... this way I loose ability to actually use parallel connection... but get ability to use sum of stereo outs of my stereo pedals on G3 out 1..... and if I want to use stereo amps, and send stereo outs to different amps, using G3 out 1 and 2,.. I just don't join parallel paths,... voila,... hope this helps someone...
Hey there Dan, am I correct in assuming that stereo pedals with only one input will only successfully work with other stereo pedals if it's either A) first in the chain, or B) in parallel? Otherwise the signal would get summed, no? Would that even work in parallel? And finally, how many parallel options does the G3 give you?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Hope you are well.
Hi Bryan, yes, it will need to be the first in the chain. Currently you have the single parallel option but we can increase this in future upgrades 🤓👍
@@TheGigRigDaniel thanks Dan. I'll probably be having one of these in the future.
@@TheGigRigDaniel so if I have two stereo pedals with only mono inputs can this still work?
@@TheGigRigDanielwait… if you’re running in parallel, wouldn’t it be able to go anywhere in the chain? I just bought a g3 atom, and kind of for this reason (using a DM-101 which is mono in, stereo out, with my other stereo pedals in w/d/w). If each pedal is in parallel, they’re unaffected by the other pedals/only receiving the dry signal i thought?
Apologies as I’m still trying to learn all this, but there’s shockingly little information on all this and running wet/dry/wet, and I’m still trying to figure out how the heck to get a stereo delay with only mono in into the wet side of my setup. I thought a switcher like this that could do parallel was the answer
Streets ahead.
This is hurting my brain.. in a good way.
Do both the Atom and the G3 have the same number of internal mixers (2 I believe)? Or can the G3 do more splits/parallels than the Atom? And are there a forums or site with G3 owners where they can trade tips/resources? Thanks!
Both have the same stereo mixer and there’s a G3 discussion page on Facebook 👍
I do not see a Volume pedal insert on the G3 . How does one use a volume pedal with the G 3 so it is after my drive pedals , but before my time based FX like on my G2 ? help !
The volume insert in G2 is simply another effects loop. So we’ve put all the loops together on the back of G3 giving you 12 loops. Also the G3 loops are completely reorderable per preset 🤓👍
