You did a fine job with the rangefinder; it is not easy to focus accurately with this lens. That said, you can not expect the same kind of clinical sharpness from the older generation Leica lenses. I own a M9 and am thinking of getting the same lens for portrait photography to capture the forthcoming holiday lightings. Thanks for the video and your comments.
Good stuff as always. The photo with the circular bokeh is lovely. Also, wanted to let you know your previous Noctlux video “made” me have a look at one for sale locally at a not crazy price. I ended up buying it, and since the weather here has been so gloomy over the past week I’ve been able to use it at f/1 on a Monochrom (via 2-stop orange filter) at a nearby wildlife/recreational park. Lotsa fun, and I’m getting better at focusing as I use it more. Thanks!
I hope you got it at a good price, I think anything below $5,000 USD is a good price!! I gotta try black and white with this lens, everyone says its really nice!! Yes it is fun :) You're welcome!!
Wonderful video with a stunning model to work with too. I recently traded in my Noctilux f0.95 for the Noctilux f1 purely for the ‘feel’ of the images I could achieve from the f1 version as opposed the .95 (I found myself editing the .95 to a look I could achieve SOOC with the f1 version).
Oh wow!! very interesting, I think in a world now with very clinical and almost perfect lenses, we kinda want something different, good move on getting the f/1 !!
a tip I can give you is that you won't loose the Nocti feel but increase centre sharpness quite a bid if you stop down to 1.2/1.4 and you be sweet especially if you stay that close. on 2 m it doesn't matter you can shoot F1, but minimum close is not just a focus challenge is just the lens design
Nice review... glad to see you back out shooting... well done for getting 70% in focus just using the rangefinder on the m9... it must have been very challenging... good job...
Thanks James I highly recommend getting the viewfinder magnifier 1.4 to increase your hit rate with that lovely rendering but unforgiving Noctilux ! Have a great Xmas
@@user-qy4nb2zg4i Sorry I dont know anything about this, but my other video I did say this version 4 seems like its a 52mm or 53mm lens, it seems to be a bit magnified, that can result in bigger 'bokeh balls'.
She really is gorgeous, a real stunner.
I will have her on the channel again :)
