We think that's a great idea. The historian mentioned in the video, David Deskins, has published a collection of her works. There were three volumes that are on sale at the museum, but they're also collected into a large volume that's available on Amazon. We also ran across this site that has most of her poems available to read online though: www.poetryexplorer.net/author.php?aid=SMITH%2C%20EFFIE%20WALLER. Thanks so much for watching!
That's so great that you have that connection! We'd love to hear any other stories you might have to share. You can email us at tourism@pikevilleky.gov if you'd like to discuss.
Loved her life journey
Yes! Truly inspirational.
What an amazing woman she was ❤
I absolutely must read some of her poetry. Be great getting my mind else where, off the pandemic.

@@pikevillehistorymoments7860; I'm all in, love the idea of her monthly poems - Appalachian seasons are wonderful.
Polly was my great aunt and Ruth my cousin. Effie was my aunts best friend
