    I am too chicken shit to try this, even though I really should trim the sides a bit. Gah, I'll probably experiment a bit tonight. Wish me luck beard brothers.

      The Beard Baron I did this the other night, and I think it turned out well. Took your advice and started off with a number 4 guard and just went from there. Think it turned out okay. I'm pleased with it so no problems. Here's a crappy picture of what it looks like (bad light in my living room) - imgur.com/XHUV9Jc

    Fantastic Style Points! I've just grown my beard out for the past 5.5 months & did my first trim of the side burn area & the touch up to shape my beard long & sleek! I'm 52 and this is the 2nd time to grow one since I was 19 (a full one back then too). Looking forward to the Beard Barons products coming soon! I will have my pic up soon to share.

    I've been completely afraid of the self fade lol. I'm even more afraid of a barber coming at my progressive beard with clips or scissors.
    My beard has the same curly sideburns issues too. Watched your video again and took the plunge.
    Slight fade to my shaved head and I really feel 100% better. Thanks again, I enjoy the videos

    I have to say man, your vids are the BEST! -You have really helped me as I am growing my beard here in Vietnam! I'm having lots of fun because 99% of Vietnamese men cannot grow any facial hair. So, as my beard gets fuller and longer (3 months) the more attention I get. Beards in Asian culture are mythical and magical. Thanks for all your tips and I will be watching for more! BTW, I'm with you on the "fade" look.

    So today I bought hair cutting scissors, and trimmed the bottom of my beard. And when I was doing so, I kept hearing your voice: "Just crumbs, only take crumbs." It came out great, didn't go shorter, just neatened it up a bit. Also the angle that I held the scissors was definitely useful information. Every time I see you have a new video, I hope for that mustache one. But always good info!

    Johnny: Thank you for the inspiration. I have had a full beard since I was 14 or 15. Freshman football it was sticking out beyond the faceguards. Anyway it has always been a freakizoid thing or I would cut it down close in later years. Now, mostly gray and winter, I decided to try to let it grow and maintain it. I cleaned up around the lower neck and the upper face. I am letting the stach grow too because I always used to trim that at the lip and the chin hair with the same size guard. I realized the chin hair sticks straight out, I realized after 40 years that some areas need to grow out while others need to be trimmed. I am growing and keeping it down with oil. For now... Went to barber today and he tried to convince me to cut it in some places. I told him to stick with the hair on my head.

      schleykov Well, I'm saying that I can't because i'm aware of my potential. It's been like a year since the last time I clean shaved my face, since then i've been using several beard styles, but I still have patchy spots that won't fill in and some weak areas. So i'm not able to grow the whole beard, as it looks kinda bad. My hope is thinking that i'm still young and it will develop haha it sucks to see 16 yo guys with way greater beard than mine.

    Hey Johnny, thanks for all the awesome beard vids. I have a little problem with my beard. Ive had a beard for about a year but keeping it relatively short, but Ive let it go in the last 4 or 5 months. It's gotten quite long now - 3in in places - but the problem I'm having is that every day it seems as though a dozen hairs fall out of my beard from all over the place, but mostly the chin. My skin under my beard appears healthy and isn't dry/oily and the hair itself feels soft and healthy too. I wash my beard with conditioner perhaps once a week but I don't use any oils.
    I am like another commenter down below who's beard grows in an assortment of colours (blonde, ginger, and brown) and Ive been dying it since growing it, perhaps once a month. When my beard was short hardly any hair fell out. What do you think could be the cause and is there a more natural way of darkening out the lighter parts?

    • @thebeardbaron
      @thebeardbaron  10 лет назад

      I average about the same amount of hair loss a day as well so you are certainly well within the normal parameters, nothing to worry about there :) What's most likely happening is that those hairs are reaching their terminal length and are falling out. I'm not familiar with dyes but I've heard that natural henna is a great dye that is natural. Worth looking into.

    great video man, thanx for all the tips. I have one question though, my beard is about 5 months old now but the growth has been kind of stunted and slow for the last month or so. So do u have any tips on how to speed up the growth. thanx again.

    • @thebeardbaron
      @thebeardbaron  9 лет назад

      walid abdallah Hey Walid, when growing out longer beards you will notice that your beard will go through phases of slow/fast growth. This is just normal to how the body functions and just needs to be waited out. The time of year, especially colder months, can result in slower growth.

    Thank you for answering my questions, your advice has helped me tremendously. The fade has worked out great for me b/c my sideburns get crazy curly. In all your videos it appears that your fade goes further down to your cheek. Is this just an illusion, or do you fade more than your sideburns?

    • @thebeardbaron
      @thebeardbaron  10 лет назад +1

      Sometimes the fade goes down a little lower but it's not really faded at that point but just trimmed.

    The Beard Baron Great video. Can I ask you how you get your haircut? Im needing a haircut and I want something classic like yours. How would I ask my barber to cut it? Such as length on sides, back, and top, etc. Thanks in advance.

      khaled kh It's different for everyone as some men have more than others and in different spots. The real way to tell is to really grow out your beard long.

    Hey Beard Baron, Just started watching your videos. I finally found a job that allows facial hair. so I started with the jack sparrow look and now have decided to let my beard grow and see what it will look like. asked a few people around the job they said as long as it looks tidy have at it ...soooo excited never had a beard. sorry got long winded. my question is when do I start using beard oil and what can I use so as it is coming in it stays soft? already went through the itchy stage with the stache and chin hair.any help on this would be appreciated. the sides of my beard are about a 2 right now......thanks again

    The one question I've been wondering about your beard is how do you get your beard long like that? It seems the thicker mine grows in, it not only gets long but wide as well. How do you get the sides of your beard thinned out so well. Not just the sideburns where your focused in this video but lower than that.

    when I first tried to fade my beard I made the mistake you went over of starting to low and yes it was a shocker lol.. I ended up trimming it all down even, my wife hated it when I trimmed it all down and so did I ...it's all back in boss form now. Thanks for making these videos watching here from Alabama.

      Sarah Miller Stop the madness! Remember to just take it slow and start with a larger guard than you think you'll need and you'll do just fine :)

    Finally decided to trim my beard. If i take it down to 1" on the cheeks; what is the best length for the neck to give it a cleaned up look. Without being TOO short?
    Cheers

    One thing I never saw you mention when trimming your beard is if you trim it with product in your beard such as beard oil. What do you do up to the point before you comb out the hair and start trimming? I assume you would shampoo and apply oil, style it like normal then trim. Is that the correct way to go about it?

    Love your site -- Mike here and Ive been growing a full beard -- no razors for me -- you have lots of helpful tips and Im still learning ! The beard balm is very heard to use -- Caveman Beard Balm. Like their old as I like the Dapper Dan Balm watch is softer balm. I like the smell. Anyway keep up the great work on teaching us how to !! ; )

    I have long thick wavy hair about 9 or 10 inches long and my sideburns grow faster than my beard itself and it just sticks out no matter how much I comb it. What clipper guard would you recommend I use to fade my sideburns into my beard and long hair because I don't wanna screw up my beard or hair by using a guard that I'm unsure about. I don't know how short to go because of my long hair. All I want is to get rid of those sideburns that stick/poke out to blend into my beard like yours.

    • @truffleshuffle126
      @truffleshuffle126 3 года назад

      I have the same problem, I would start with the longer sized like a #4 and see how that works, if you don't like then then try the next size down. (Better safe than sorry)

    • @diezelmods8000
      @diezelmods8000 3 года назад

      @@truffleshuffle126 i think the safest best way to make sure your sideburns are well groomed is to not trim it at all and use balm or butter to style it to tame the flyaways. Much safer than attempting to trim it and screwing it up.
