Thank you! After much tinkering and multi-meter testing, this finally turned out to be the problem with my dryer. You guys saved me a ton of money with your to the point, great looking videos.
I had a heater problem with a Gibson dryer which is exactly built as the model shown in the video. It really helped me take the dryer appart in 10 minutes. The technical electric schema was inside the dryer accessible by the small panel at the back of the machine just besides the motor. After some tests with the voltmeter, I though the heater was dead (infinite resistance between black and yellow). I confirmed that once the dryer was open. You can easily get just the element at a store nearby. SAVED A LOT OF MONEY! A big thanks!
Thank you! This looks to be my exact model and I had no idea how to access the internals. Now I can poke around to find the gas fitting I'm pretty sure is loose, as I've smelled gas inside the unit when I open the door for a while now.
You're welcome! We are always happy to help. If you would like to give us a review on Google, we would much appreciate it: g.page/r/CcVUrahZNozMEBM/review We hope that you have a great day!
Your videos and good prices have helped me save hundreds of dollars. I've replaced my washing machine pump, motor/tub coupler, dryer thermostats and timer, and now my element. Thank you!
Thanks for the question! We always have suggestions :-) This is most likely an air flow issue. The dryer would be plugged either in the blower or in the venting if this is the case. When this happens the moisture builds up and drips out through the vent.
Worked great. Thanks! Good to lube the Bearing Hitch with high temp lubricant while you're in there. Specially if you have a squeal at medium and high heat settings.
Oh no! That's frustrating. I would suggest going to our website and inputting your model number into our repair help (link in the description of this video). My guess is you accidentally shorted out a thermostat when replacing the belt. I hope this helps!
This video is showing how to replace the heating element and the rear housing assembly. This is not meant to rip anyone off, we're just showing how to replace the whole assembly. If you go to the part page that is linked in the description of this video you will see a link to the heating element coil by itself.
The dryer not heating could be quite a few different things. I would recommend going to the repair help section of our website (link in the description), inputting your model number there, and use it as a guide to figuring out what part is bad. Some of the parts (such as the thermal fuse) have part testing videos on their part pages. Please let me know if this helps!
Sir glad to find a utube vlog like this, unfortunately i did dismantle the drum, but when I'm ready to put it back I can't able to place it back as usual. I tried many times to watch your demo in this video but still can't do it. Would you please a favor for my needs?
Thank you very much this was extremely helpful we had the job done in only minutes what took so long was cleaning the dryer of fuzz. We also took our time watched the video twice then dove in.
With your help👍 I replaced the ball “hitch” assembly (along with the belt) causing my Frigidaire dryer to squeal. Everything worked great….for a day. Then it tumbled but no heat. I have it apart again and 1. breaker is fine so I ASSUME it’s getting 240 volts 2. Thermal fuses and heating coil show continuity. Any other suggestions??
Darn you make that look easy... I cleaned out the lint from the lower trap door, then the repair man showed up.. dryer working fine & he charged me $100.00 It was the lint on the components underneath
I honestly do not know. We shoot our videos in batches that span over several days. He may have cut it doing something on the dryer but it may have been completely unrelated to the video. If a part of the repair involves something sharp we always put the "sharp" icon in the bottom right corner of the video.
It appears that on your model there are four screws on the back of the dryer that are holding the plate in place. You'll have to unscrew these from behind the dryer to get at the coil.
Did you order the part that is linked in the description of the video (part #131553900) or part #5300622034? If you ordered part #131553900 you should have gotten the full assembly.
Excellent video! I stopped and started this video every step of the way as I disassembled my dryer. And once I receive and install the new heater coil it looks as if reassembly will be just as easy. I appreciate the warnings of danger points as well. Fr once I didn't bleed on a project:-) Thank you!
DON'T BE RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this video shows you the 'heating element' as one big item (plate with a coil mounted on it). you ONLY NEED TO BUY THE COIL. the coil should cost about 12 bucks, buying the whole element costs about $70!!!!. you do NOT need to replace the whole big metal plate!
Keep in mind, with this assembly, you get all new isolators and high limit switch, not a bad deal if you take all that into account. The "plate" is just a redundant part of the assembly.
This could be many different things. If you use the repair help section of our website (link in the description of this video) you'll get model and symptom specific repair help. I hope this helps!
Anyone ever notice the drum in the video is missing the piece on the backside to make the install easier. Mine has like a metal plate and it must of rubbed the heating elements. I think one of the screws got a hold of the heating element and unraveled some of it and breaking it. So far the belt change is costing more money.
When we ordered a new heating element for our Frigidaire dryer, we were sent the metal coil that wraps around the inside of the metal shield, not the full assembly. How do we replace that?
This was very helpful and my dryer now heats as expected and taking time to clean the interior of the dryer (lint/dust) was a good exercise, but now my drum is dragging. I tightened the screws to the hitch plate and the dryer spins fine empty, but put wet clothes in there and it drags and may stop with too much weight. Not sure what I've done wrong putting it back together. Thanks.
+Aldark22405 took it all back apart and put it back together - my tension bar for the pulley has 2 holes, so I adjusted to the second hole and running smooth. Thanks again for a great tutorial.
+Jenn Jones Not the thermostat because I replaced it with the heating unit. It is now working and all I did was open lid to see if coils were heating up so that I would know what to rule out. All of a sudden they glowed, I dropped the lid back down and it is working!
OK, mission accomplished, note : when the top is removed while the drum & belt are still attached measure a direct line when the drum is aligned and outline the belt track to insure it will be on track when reinstalled. Also, the metal framework on the dryer frame is weak, don't apply more pressure to it because if it bends parts might be out of line when you reinstall parts.
I'm not sure if it's the same since mine is not that model, but I had EXACTLY the same problem (removed three screws from the back of the drum, and found a shiny silver plate keeping the heating element from going anywhere). Apparently this attached to the back of the machine in a socket. Grab the silver plate and pull up. The ball will pop out with some effort. If your dryer is linty between the back and the heating element, clean that off and you'll see the ball and socket.
So I used this video to change out my heating coil. I put a brand new one in and put everything back together. Unfortunately, the dryer still wouldn't heat. I took it apart again and can see the coil already broke right near the connector. Is this a bad part or perhaps something else? Very frustrating! It was a helpful video though!
We followed the video step by step and found every step to be very simple, but when it came time to remove the drum, it was still attached somewhere in the back toward the bottom. So now we're stuck on this step and can't get it out.
***CHECK OUTLET TERMINALS - THEY MAY BE LOOSE*** After taking apart the dryer and testing all the parts, it turned out to be one loose terminal in the outlet, so the dryer was only getting 120V so it would turn on and spin, but no heat. ***I SHUT OFF AND REMOVED THE DRYER BREAKER FIRST*** 220V WILL KILL YOU SO BE CAREFUL TO SHUT OFF ALL POWER*** I bent the terminal closer with needle nose pliers and now it's heating fine. I also replaced all of the breakers before checking the outlet, hindsight is 20/20!
I have a Electrolux dryer. Model # GLEQ2152ESO. I watched this video and my drum doesn't come out the same way. I unhooked the belt and the drum wouldn't come off. I removed 3 screws from inside the drum and then the drum came out. However, there is a plate that attaches to the back of the dryer where the bearing is. The coil won't come off until this plate is off. I can't get it off. I need help.
I tried to submit a question on here and it said it was "pending approval". Then it was gone. So, I am trying again..... I was asking if the drum is supposed to be free-standing when you put it back again so it rotates freely, or is supposed to lean against one of the sides until all steps are completed?
I did everything correctly by watching the video and following along. Everything was placed and replaced correctly. My dryer works, and heats. However, for some reason it heats way to hot! After a few minutes on medium heat, I look in the dryer and see the coils are red hot, the dryer has a burnt smell, and the top of the dryer is way to hot to even touch. Obviously its not heating correctly, and is out of control. How do I correct the problem? Please Help.
Hi Jewell can I ask you a few questions...We have stripped down our Frigidaire Dryer because our 16 year old appliance seemed to be over heating. That felt piece that sits on the edge of the heat assembly was actually burnt when we took the whole thing out. Our dryer has a scorch mark on the back at the top of the dryer. What problem were you having before you replaced with this new one that for you does not seem to be functioning properly because as you say you replaced it correctly. Also did yours come with the Thermostat attached, we are in Canada and maybe things are different, would really appreciate your input...Thanks.
I have the same model dryer in the video but the drum won't lift out easily after disconnecting the belt. What do I do to get it out?? I've used these videos to replace the belt in the past but now the dryer won't heat. I can't get to the heating coil because I can't get the drum out. Any ideas?
I thought I had the same problem, but it was that I needed to apply more upwards force than I thought. The drum ball joint has to pop out of its socket, and there is a vertical slot that it will travel up once released. Hold the drum level and have a friend help you pull upwards with a lot of force. It will pop out.
So, i did all the steps and when I got to the Heating element, and say a break in the coil, so i stretched the coil a little and crimped it back together, does anyone think this will affect the dryer's drying ability?
You will not notice any difference in drying until it breaks again. The crimped section of the heater will fail again soon. We recommend replacing the element. Hope this helps.
They make these brands like this so difficult to fix you have to damn near completely disassembled them to fix them that's why I stick with Whirlpool made dryers all you have to do is take the back off and everything is accessible
This video doesn't even show you how to troubleshoot anything all they want to do is sell you a heating element whether you need it or not it could be something other than your heating element go to another video it will show you how to troubleshoot things
Get the H*ll outta here! So simple, finally someone gets it! Very well done, no surprises, 10 minutes at most, majority of time maneuvering the dryer around in the closet.
+RepairClinic.com i i just took my dryer to the shop and had it worked on because it is makeing a low rumbleing sound . he charged me 65 bucks said its fixed, now its worse and i have to go back 70 miles RT

+Theo Evans Glad we could help. Thanks.
Thanks for the tips! The belt will typically align itself if you spin the drum a few times after you have everything in place.
Thanks for the question! We always have suggestions :-) This is most likely an air flow issue. The dryer would be plugged either in the blower or in the venting if this is the case. When this happens the moisture builds up and drips out through the vent.

Are you sure the belt is completely clear of any obstruction? Are you lifting the drum straight up before trying to move forward with it?
Great job! Cleaning out the lint from inside the dryer is important, kudos to you for doing the job right!
Thank you very much this was extremely helpful we had the job done in only minutes what took so long was cleaning the dryer of fuzz. We also took our time watched the video twice then dove in.

Once the bearing hitch is in the cup and the spacer is installed it should be standing on its own and should rotate freely like it does in the video.
What is it with a piece of fabric on the top of the heating element? Where does that go in does that pose a fire hazard?
Thank you thank you thank you - saved me lots of time and money with this video.

+Aldark22405 Good work!
What is the blue wire at the back down the frigidaire dryer
What is the connection of that.thanks
My dryer is making a very loud noise on the Medium and High settings, does that sound like it's an issue with the heating element?
Successfully replaced. These directions were great but my dryer still does not heat :( Could it be the thermostat?
+Jenn Jones Not the thermostat because I replaced it with the heating unit. It is now working and all I did was open lid to see if coils were heating up so that I would know what to rule out. All of a sudden they glowed, I dropped the lid back down and it is working!
+Jenn Jones good job
While the drum was being re-installed after the repair it probably inadvertently touched the heating element, causing it to short.
The first dryer model number is FER211AS2 if anyone needed to know
Thanks for this Post - it was exactly what I needed - Belt Replaced ... Done and working
Great video, saved me hundreds.
+John Cable That's fantastic! Thank you.

out the place where the hose clamps to the dryer that will help a whole lot because that's what was happening to me

Thank you very much, what a huge help, and money saver...Awesome
We're glad we could help out Bill!
i changed the heating element It works. It get warm barrel turns. However it sound uneven. Any Ideas what that would be?
You're saying that after you installed the heating element, the dryer drum sounds unbalanced?
***** No it"s more like an ebb an flow of the motor. the drum is secure.
Nice video............... Thanks
We this part in Feb 2015 and now it has gone out again. Is there a reason it went out so quickly?
Cheap parts from China? Should have bought American.
Thx Very Helpfull
or you could of reset the system using the tech data sheet before tearing it apart. to check everything
Thank you very much.
I just replaced the dryer belt, and now it is not heating up.
can u use a ge heating coul in a Frigidaire?
+Krystal Duke Normally the answer is no. However, there is some crossover in the appliance parts market.
It did not show very important steps need to remove the barrel
thanks big help love youtube
