It's King Bran Stark in the books too.. Here's Why! | Game of Thrones Season 8 Bran Stark Explained

  • Bran Stark, Brandon Stark or Bran the Broken is one of the most mysterious characters in Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire, Bran Stark is the Three Eye'd Raven and now he's the King of the six kingdoms, so Bran Stark is the most powerful man in Westeros. Emotions were running high after the Finale of Game of Thrones Season 8 so I decided instead to focus my energy at my favorite thing The Clues! Bran Stark is one of my favorite characters I have spent many hours studying him, especially book Bran. Most of my videos are probably on Brandon Stark of Winterfell. But.. I never gave a thought to Bran Stark being King. I always thought Bran's purpose and importance was tied to the White Walkers. The A Song of Ice and Fire novels are not nearly as far into the story as Game of Thrones Season 8. In the books Bran Stark is still in the cave learning to be a Greenseer. Knowing that the show and the books will likely end in the same place I wanted to go back and look for clues that point to Bran being the King at the end of all of this. I've re-watched many Bran Stark Scenes, Re-Read some chapters, Looked at some interviews from George RR Martin and D&D! I think I have possibly made a connection to what has really been foreshadowed all along, I'm pretty sure Bran is not evil, and I'm also pretty sure Bran is not human. In this video I will go over all of the clues that King Bran will be the same in the books and all of this may be George RR Martin's mater plan. Thanks for Watching!

And in the video the part about we see Dany called the most moral character and acting as we've never seen her is wrong IMO. She has killed since the first season and threatened to burn cities and women and children to the ground. Nobody ever received trials. She ruled by fire and anyone disagreeing was killed. Of course the totality of her fury was released at King's Landing but that could be seen coming a mile away.

I think Bran 100% knew what Danaerys was going to do. I also think he 100% tried to make it happen.
Bran was outplaying everyone. A character who doesn't want anything is not really concerned with how many people lose their lives. There is no end goal. He can't be evil or good.

    • @ldariusd21
      @ldariusd21 5 лет назад +8

True but he can't see the future so he can't know. He sees the past clearly because of the weirwood he sees what they lived through and only can see pieces of the future which he couldn't piece together and it doesn't even matter because everything will happen the way it will happen anyway. Bran could've sat back and did nothing this whole time and someway and somehow things would've happened the way it did because history is already written and the ink is dry. You can't change fate or destiny everything will end up the way it was meant to

    • @StannisHarlock
      @StannisHarlock 5 лет назад +4

@@ldariusd21 It never says he couldn't piece together the future, and we know he could see it. Bran is not necessarily a reliable narrator in the show. If Bran was playing the game of thrones, which I have no doubt he was, then it would not be to his advantage to tell anyone that he can see everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. You don't know when he's telling you the truth. We know he saw a dragon flying over King's Landing, which turned out to be the future. How much of the future he saw is unknown, but it would be very anticlimactic for the show to let the audience know how much of it he could see if he could in fact see it all. In the end, when know that he knew they would make him king because he'd seen it.

He only sees pieces smh 🤦🏾‍♂️ Mel lived long years and still can't see it... It doesn't matter how powerful bran is he will not see the whole future at all George writes the books on a realistic scale even the magic is on a realistic scale. Bran is not a God he can't change fate or destiny but only move the pieces to where they are supposed to be "you were where u needed to be all along" Bran's words. Nothing is for sure in the books or show look how the characters u thought would make it die and how tricky prophecy is. Nothing is for sure but the future, fate, and destiny.. History repeated itself and parallel other characters because like the Martin himself said just like in real life in his books history repeats itself because it does in a real sense. Things might happen differently but the bases of history will repeat itself within other times and characters. The long night and the wars and stories in the series are proof of that. Instead of being defeated at Winterfell, the army of the dead will get past the Neck and cause even more severe death and destruction across Westeros so the entire kingdom will be shook and see the white walkers as a very real, serious threat. Bran will meet the white walkers at the Isle of Faces and defeat them there through some psychic magic weirwood battle that would probably be hard to understand for the rest of the characters. It will be witnessed by many people and news of Bran being some god-like figure defeating the white walkers will spread across the last remaining kingdoms and they will agree to follow Bran as their new leader. When meera said “you died in that cave” she was right, he died in that cave, what took over was bloodraven living in him , taking over his body, you know how like in insidious, the ghosts were trying to get into the body of the child to live again but could do that only because the child was able to lucid dream and yes “fly” , i think it’s more like that.
The night king was trying to kill bran rather than conquering westeros, that would explain why the others were more active during the events of game of thrones and not before, in the books there is no night king, so it would be really interesting to see how bran will become the king

Does no one remember the small storytelling session between Tyrion and Bran the night before whitewalkers attacked Winterfell? Maybe they both planned it all back then and influenced people to be where they are today because after that meeting between the two, what followed was -
    1. Bran pushing Sam to tell John, knowing he wont stop before telling about it to Danny, Sansa and Arya of his real identity - Pushing Danny towards insecurity and Sansa to spread the news to others.
    2. Tyrion continuing to be by Danny’s side despite all the arguments from Varys and despite Danny starting to show signs of madness (yet tying to ensure that Cersi and Jamie leave kingslanding before any harm comes to them).
    3. Tyrion pushing John to kill Danny by convincing him she was turning mad being a Targaryan and that she wont stop before destroying all the other kingdoms too, including Winterfell and John’s sisters.
    4. Bran coming all the way to kingslanding after all the work is done for him and gracefully accepting the crown despite repeatedly denying to be lord of Winterfell.
    5. It was Tyrion that proposed the name of Bran for the King and it was Bran who names him Hand of the King, a position that Tyrion always enjoyed the most.

Bran knowingly allowing Genocide to be king is no better than Dany actually carrying out the act so saying Bran would be a good King is false. IMO, a better theory is that the Lord of Light = 3 Eyed Crow = Children of the Forest reincarnated = Bran: and his greatest enemy was the Night King whom he used others to defeat and also used others to win the game of throne. This was always his intention.
Also how does an uncaring, non human robot like character know what is best for humans?

Technically, as the 3-eyed blackbird, he should live for a few thousand years, steering humanity toward an enlightened state where there is no need for a royal succession nor continued divine guidance, presumably ending as he sets up a revolution whereby he is overthrown. He doesn't want to be King, but he came to King's Landing knowing that if he didn't another would be chosen and the cycle of destruction would start all over again.
As to him knowing what Daenerys was going to do. What would have happened if he told Jon? Jon was blinded by her, bent to her will, and he would have told her what Bran said and the Starks would have been targets anyway. He had to let it play out for the hope that Jon would do what must be done and the realm would heal afterwards.

Bran/Summer: Bran (the real Bran) & Summer shared a long journey in an effort to stop Winter (Night King). This helped shape my theory that Bran did die in that cave (as Meera said), and the 3ER overtook him. Summer ended when Winter arrived. (He only says a thousand times he's not Bran Stark anymore lol)
Robb/Grey Wind: Robb truly died because of Theon Greyjoy's betrayal. Theon taking Winterfell forces Robb to retreat North to retake the castle, and bent him to the will of Walder Frey. Ultimately, it was a GREYJoy who cost Robb & GREY Wind their lives.
Sansa/Lady: I honestly thought Sansa would die (still may in the books), as I've always been of the belief that the Starks have shared destinies with their direwolves. She may still die in the books. Regardless, Sansa becomes Lady of Winterfell.
Arya/Nymeria: Arya ventures west alone, seeking new land, as her direwolf Nymeria did after Arya freed her in the Riverlands to avoid being killed by the Lannisters (Arya was also freed from KL to evade certain capture/death and travel). Queen Nymeria (which Arya names her direwolf after) did much of the same when she ventured west and conquered Dorne.
Rickon/Shaggydog: The term "Shaggy Dog story" originated from a long-winded joke about a man finding a rich family's shaggy dog, and taking it back to them for a hefty reward. In the end, the family says it isn't shaggy enough, and slams the door in the man's face. It's essentially a red herring. Rickon & Shaggydog are both captured, and "returned" to the Starks, but it's all for nothing, because they both die. Additionally, it's hinted at in the books that Rickon may have warg Shaggydog.
Jon/Ghost: The obvious one, but there's some more layers to it than I'm seeing in other comments. Obviously Jon dies, and comes back to life. There's also the fact that Ghost was separated from the pack when the pups were found, symbolic of Jon's distance from the natural born Stark children, and the fact that although he's a Stark, he's not a direct relative, there's space there. Ghost also has white hair, as Jon's true father Rhaegar Targaryen had.
The connection between the Starks and their direwolves is much stronger in the books, and much more relevant. I'm looking forward to their collective arcs.

Bran as King is a perfect ending for me. It still leaves an element of intrigue. Bran's motives are still not clear, but I think they are better than the alternatives. He seems to be some kind of hybrid personification of history and nature with the human elements of past 3ERs like Bloodraven mixed in. (Maybe represents what rules us anyway-nature v nurture.) He says he doesn't want anymore, but he cannot be truly objective if he has been operating behind the scenes. He seems to be some kind of a mouthpiece/translator for the weirwood trees. Fire poses a great threat to the weirwood trees. Bran was okay with Dany and the dragons going down once the NK was not a problem. Not all humans respect the trees either, so this whole thing might have been a win, win, win for the weirwood trees.
The Starks worship the Old Gods and Bran has placed them in positions of power and expansion. West of Westeros is not within the history of man, so maybe Bran doesn’t know it until Arya experiences it or word of her gets back. I love her beautiful little ship with the dire wolf figurehead and sails and how well her expedition is appointed. I wonder if she named it Nymeria. I guess that was her reward from the 6 Kingdoms and works well to expand Bran’s branches and roots. Sansa is key to preserving the Old Gods of the North. Note the weirwood tree leaf embroidery on the inner sleeve of her coronation gown. That and the weirwood tree branch and root design on her breast plate are extremely significant (gives me chills-D&D, Michele Clapton or GRRM’s idea? Emmys). So much important detail on her gown. Color is used sparingly inferring the importance of the delicate olive green leaf embroidery at her neck reminding me of the Children of the Forest. The pattern of falling leaves in the skirt material reminds me of the cyclical pattern of life. The feathered wolf stole and more, all the elements Sansa represents interwoven into that outfit. Amazing and powerful. And Jon of course, honors the Old Gods. He is “free” and will not break the oaths he swore to the weirwood tree Gods and his King.
Bran’s vision of the future included a scene where he sees the 7 pointed star in the stained glass over the throne. Maybe Bran’s actions are the weirwood tree God’s way of waging war. I think Bran is very powerful and takes advice from Littlefinger and Sun Tzu in The Art of War, “All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.” Being "bait" in the godswood, the crows near critical conversations, directing Sam and Theon at critical moments, … at some point knowing this would result in him being asked to be King. “Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt” (Sun Tzu). His motives may simply be to continue life. With his knowledge and foresight providing a stabilizing influence, he is able to provide a more balanced and less extreme environment resulting in a good combination of preservation and growth. Ice and fire. Long live King Bran the Broken.

A question my friend, is it not true that Bran must touch a weirwood tree to see present and past events? I don't believe their are any weirwood trees in King's Landing, they are located on the God's Eye and the North! The Three Eyed Raven tells Bran he is more or less 1000 years waiting for Bran. When was the last time the white walkers tried to march south? 1000 years ago if I remember correctly. What if the white walkers made the Raven a tree, to save humanity? What if it was the Three Eyed Raven of thousands of years ago that told the Children of the Forest how to make a white walker, but didn't count on the fact that the first walker would have human feelings, too? I mean, Benjen got a dragonglass shard in his heart and stayed pretty much human in mind, but fought against the walkers, because he thought of them as the enemy, as he was raised so and also taught in the Night's Watch. What if the Children along with the Raven actually wanted to eliminate humans and not the other way around, but humans turned more resourceful and the Children ended up being almost extinct in the end? My head tries to understand the meaning of Bran letting this all happen to become something he said he never wanted, but might have actually wanted all along as the Raven.

Thank you for doing this video but you missed something big. Bran didn't let the King's Landing massacre happen in season 8. He caused it. Emotionless Bran knew other people still had emotions and could see possible future better than others. He was the one who pushed for Jon's linage to be known. He may have known that would cause Dany to go a separate route and be easier prey for Euron's ships. Thus Bran put dominos in place to make sure Missandei would be killed and be killed in front of Dany. Thus that Dany would supposedly crack and kill innocents on purpose. Dany had no choice in being mentally cracked. Bran did. He calculated what it would take to make happen and manipulated events so it would.
And yes, if Bran can do a decent job of tracking 1 human Jamie riding horse North from King's Landing then he can track a bunch of ships under Euron's command. He may have even seen Cersei and Euron putting the plans together while Dany and Jon were still in Winterfell.
It can then be asked if Bran keeping that Jamie pushed a young (then human) Bran out a window was really Bran being merciful or Bran making sure Jamie died at the most useful time. Bran didn't say anything to Jamie to make him rethink leaving Winterfell and go to his death-which Tyrion would blame Dany for. But if Bran acknowledged to his Arya and Sansa what Jamie had done like he did about Littlefinger they may have killed him. But Jamie's death at their hands wouldn't be useful to Bran gaining the throne because Tyrion wouldn't blame Dany for it. Instead he may blame Sansa. Also making Tyrion less likely to want to hear about Jon's linage from her and avoiding further turmoil in Dany's court as it related Varys.
It is an assumption that Bran is breaking the wheel when he arguable reinforces it. Unlike Daenerys he has no history of trying to make life better for common people. By causing the massacre he willfully and purposefully killed many of them. During the reconstruction he voices no concern that people be well cared for during rebuilding. Bran may not be good at all. Just a powerful sociopath.
Is Bran really avoiding power corrupting or actually using his unusually strong powers in a corrupt way that other people cannot because they lack that power? A different person who did her own video on season 8 quoted a real life person that examined power and found he wasn't as convinced anymore that power corrupted so much as it revealed.
The revealing happens when someone becomes powerful enough that person can do what he or she wanted (and perhaps other people are no longer is position relative to him or her that they can stop it.) Daenerys had power in Meereen and with it she revealed her concern for other people was real. Bran had power multiple parts of season 8 and revealed he was perfectly willing to let-or as I argue cause-them to die (thus murder them through schemes they didn't see coming as he used his powers to arrange) even if they were innocent or had risked their lives to protect his.
Even if murdering others in cold-blood scheming rather than in a rage it is still murder.
Also just to be clear the script of the throne room scene said that was falling snow (not ash). Also that GoT scene was made before D and D were told the ending points so it really isn't foreshadowing.
Good video that mentioned that point about power, but doesn't touch at all on my argument Bran could be the biggest mass murderer in GoT.
