I'm glad it was useful! I'm very happy with my ACE XL. Considering the price of the FSB heads I'd be tempted to skip them for now if the budget doesn't allow for nearly £1000 on a tripod head.
Is it worth it? On the basis of buy once, cry once I bit the bullet a couple of years ago on the 75 with a handle (a must) spreader, FSB4 head and bag and haven’t even had a sneaky peep at other sets of legs since. It works, it works well and is pretty easy to lug about. It takes some harsh treatment as well. It’s expensive but in my mind...worth it. That’s a fair review you’ve put together fella 👍
Very good review and explaining the types of work this tripod would be useful in was very helpful! 👍🏽 I’ve been using a cheap but satisfactory tripod E-Image EK60, which was $300, but now that I have transitioned from my stationary tv and corporate types work and I am doing music videos and narratives I see how much more your expensive and highly mobile lightweight tripod would be.
When I unload equipment from my car on a shoot I like to play 'which bags/cases are worth more than my car'. It is a little strange when your tripod is worth more than your car 😂
Just got mine today cant wait to use it , however it didn't come with this handsome dude . Thanks for this video .I'm going to give it a go without the spreader .
Do you find the spreader useful? I have the 75 as well no spreader with the ace XL head sitting 22lb on it I trust it but sometimes think about having it for spreading the legs wider for lower shots and trusting it while moving away from the pod..
You can definitely use it without the spreader and I would trust it to stay up and not fall over. However I find the tripod is a lot more rigid with the spreader so it is worth having.
when im filming aircraft ETC at airshows slower and faster planes i think video head wise would be sachtler FSB 8 with less expensive tripod . at the moment im useing much cheaper video head the manfrotto MVH 502ah with 055 tripod . i find when useing this video head footage is to jerky and jumpy when panning and tilting when optical zoom is being used even with the camcorders stabilization is turned off the panasonic HCX1 which i use .
Yes that’s definitely a good case for getting a better tripod head and lower budget tripod. Some of the manfrotto heads can be difficult to use smoothly at the very long focal lengths that I assume you’re using.
no i use fixed lens camcorder panasonic hcx1 i think the FBS 8 will be great for quicker panning and tilting like i said fast aircraft great counter balance and drag step settings but im a bit stuck to no what other tripod to get with the FSB 8 THE manfrotto 055 i use at the mo is only a cheapy £130
how is the starting and stopping on this tripod...I have an e-image and that is the bad part. smooth when going but the starting and stopping a little shaky
@@StuninRub I am sorry, but the Gitzo is a complete different approach. I do believe that it is way sturdier, but I bought the Sachtler because of its awesome locking mechanism. :-) So one will outperform the other based on your expectations and needs. ;-)
Thanks for the review, I'm about to pull the trigger and debating on which head to go with!

Have you tested the Activ8 fluid head ?
i read reviews about legs getting stuck and feet getting lost. My previous sachtler legs lasted only a few jobs....so maybe Miller?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video! Yeah, it's been so nice having a really sturdy well made tripod.
Just bought this System with the FSB 8. Nice Video. Made me feel better after dropping almost 2k on a tripod.
Cheers

I found the exact same product page, it's £1,849.00 now. So they increased the price by over 500 quid.... Daaaamn

A beast of a tripod
It definitely is!
Incredibly underwhelming compared to offerings from Gitzo and RRS.

The tripod itself is great, but when I’m filming sports events I would rather have an FSB head instead of my Ace XL head
Nice review
Thank you! 😀
What about a kick back pan test? A tripod is useless if it has any kick back. You forgot to address the most important performance issue.
These tripods are 2 to 3 thousand dollars in Canada. WTF! No thank you!
I got mine for less than that, just under £1500
very expensive
But very good
Not even close to the best tripod you can buy for the money, but this is the product that offers the most shill money.
So what would be the best for the same money?
