I rode my jetski many times in the Chesapeake Bay doing several hr. trip in rough water..near Annapolis MD. , I know the winds do pick up in the afternoon on most summer days.

Man that is a he'll of a day trip. I got beat up going from Hammond to the play pen in some chop. I couldn't do this run at my age. Good job bro that was awesome.

I appreciate your video. I would consider it a “what not to do” when crossing Lake Michigan on a jet ski. We’re doing the trip ourselves this summer and videos like yours help us avoid common mistakes. You did answer my question - what would happen if someone tried to refuel a Yamaha in deep water. I would suggest next time consider using a $10 siphon tube with a pump. (I wish you would have provided data on fuel consumption. My assumption is his VX HO would cross just fine without needing more fuel. Fill up in South Haven, cross back. No extra fuel needed)

Yamaha's has a screen or something in the line to prevent it from over flow. So gas has to be entered slowly. This is why kevin couldn't use his gas can. All of his Gas would just over flow and come out. So we switched all his gas to my gas can. I did provide how much gas we used. I brought a 6 gallon can of gas with me. When I refueled in the middle of the lake i was at a 1/4 tank. After refueling and making it to south haven, ibwas at a 1/4 tank. So this mean one full tank would make it there. But I would try it with out bringing extra gas, because conditions change gas consumption.

I want to go, but live in L.A. Are there places that rent for this purpose? Say St. Joe or New Buffalo?

So its been a dream of mine to go on a trip in my 21 foot boat that has a deep v hull with a cuddy cabin. starting from the detroit river and crossing lake st claire to the st Claire river. then following that until it runs into lake huron then running just a few miles off the shoreline upto the tip of the thumb and ending at port austin mi. ruff estimate of 130 to 140 nautical miles. your video definitely makes me feel more confident that it can be done with proper planning and safety equipment!

That sounds like a nice trip, I'm looking forward to doing some long hauls with my 2018 yamaha 242 se jet boat. I'ts about 24 feet with a v hull. my only concern is the vhf radio. I need to install a onboard one instead of a handheld. You need a bigger antenna when you're that far offshore.

Those rides are fun. Spending almost as much time in the air as the water 😂

Yeah but not good on a long ride. They beat your body up, eat up your fuel consumption and you have to be ready to get off the throttle to protect your carbon seal.

I want to do the sit down sea doos from New Buffalo, MI to Chicago. There's a great vid of teenagers doing it from Michigan City, IN to Chicago and it was the most perfect day. Just glass and no clouds in the sky. Then they just go right through downtown Chicago, park and walk the streets. I grew up on Lake Michigan, now I ride a motorcycle in L.A. traffic. I'll be OK.
