    Hi, thank you for the video. I'm a carp fisherman & this year I'm determined to try other types of fishing. I stumbled across drop-shotting while looking through various loca Facebook groups & have just bought myself a Fox Warrior rod & PrismX reel. Can't wait to try them out. I'm hoping to use this method on some of my carp lakes as there's a lot of big perch in them.
    Thank you for this video, as a total novice it was incredibly helpful particularly as I need to buy line & terminal tackle for my new set up.

      Glad it was helpful Mike, you've got a good set up there and the Perch in commercial lakes can get nice and fat lol. Tight lines and all the best with the dropshotting, I'll be doing a lot more myself this year.

      @@Scottsoutdoorchannel the only issue I might find is that most carp lakes don't allow braided mainline. I know the rule is intended to be no braid for fishing for carp, so I'll have to have a word with the bayliff prior to casting a line. I think drop shotting will be a great use of a rod while the traps are set for the carp.

      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  2 года назад +1

      @@openmike9722 it would be well worth asking first, I contacted a couple last winter and they said OK and had the same rules etc regarding braid, all you can do is ask mate

    • @openmike9722
      @openmike9722 2 года назад

      @@Scottsoutdoorchannel I think it's an implied rule for carp fishing to be honest. A carp is unlikely to pick up a small lure (although not unheard of) in the winter. I know the owner as I'm a regular anyway so it should be ok but yes, I will always ask first.

    I bought that rucksack scot its like a little tardis. I dont use it for dropshoting or jigging i have a savage gear one, but use it for float fishing or just feader fishing just taking enough for the day and not as if i was going for a year lol.
    Zips are lovely plenty of loops i put me banksticks in and have alarms on em and they aint going anywhere i knw there safe wen doing bit of ledgering..
    Funny enough i came across dropshoting in early 90s different to today's way of fishing it. Instead of the dropshot leads it was 3 swanshot but it worked.

      it is deceptive just how much it can carry lol, glad you're finding it useful. it's always interesting to see how fishing techniques develop over time and the kit companies come up with to make it easier etc

    Love the vid! if a Pike comes along though would it bite thru the fluorocarbon? I would prefer Perch really, but have even had Small pike when using maggots when float fishing in the past so they would probably go for worm too, just don't want to leave a hook in a fish if bitten off.

    • @Scottsoutdoorchannel
      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  Год назад +1

      Hi mate, it can happen I'm afraid although it's never happened to me and I've had Pike on drop shot gear, I guess it all depends what size bait you're using etc, for Perch I'd use smaller baits and probably a 14 hook. I only use barbless hooks to so if I did get bitten off there's a good chance the hook will get ejected at some point.

      @@Scottsoutdoorchannel update the weather was terrible after work with mad wind and rain I did get 4 takes from decent perch but never got to set the hooks my polarised glasses made all the difference seen gud few perch follow I really enjoyed it was a local canal and next time may I set the hook.whole different ball game than piking..

    • @FilmingAdventures
      @FilmingAdventures Год назад +1

      @@corpo33 sounds like you had fun, use a nice big hook, probably bigger than you think you need and make sure it's sharp, even tiny perch will engulf a large worm. To be fair drop shotting with worms are probably my favorite bait as they tempt all sort into a take.

      Hi, it can be tricky to find the fish in all honesty, try a worm and see what happens. The bag is by Plussino, it is a good one with plenty of space and storage options.
