  • In this episode I just wanted some fun fishing. Dopshot fishing with worms is one of the simplest and easiest ways to catch fish, its great for kids to get started in fishing. I went to my local river which has a load of mixed species, trout, roach, perch, chub, bream and dace which all eat worms. Give dropshot fishing a try you might just love it.

      For sure Gordon, we can often put ourselves under pressure sometimes to catch that target species or chase the next PB, I know I do. It’s good just to chill out catch a few fish on an easy method, it’s days like that when the unexpected happens.

    I'd have to say drop shot with worm for trout and trotting a worm under a quill is such a nice peaceful way to fish I have a beautiful spot surrounded by trees and all I can hear is birds and fish jumping and ducks quacking, I use it as a form of meditation 🧘‍♂️

    I use to catch perch in an old limestone quarry about a mile up the road it was also stocked with rainbow trout and it was just the farmer who owned the land stocked it for us kids to go 🎣 and he did mind us taking them home, he is a really generous guy, anyway I don't think they won't breed so probably none there anymore but theirs definitely perch and some monster eels and my m8 even saw 2 terrapins an lily pads last summer so someone obviously didn't want them and released m business they survived the winter is another story.
    Anyway great content as always, drop shotting is a great simple way to fish 🐟.

      Thanks Ian. I’ve had a wormary for a few years now but it’s been a bit hammered over last year. Plenty of tiny one for next year. It just makes sense even to buy your worms in bulk works out much cheaper and chuck them in the wormary for when you need them.

      A few years ago, more than I care to remember, the club I was in had their annual match on another club's loch.
      It was fly only, I had been told there were brownies and rainbows, I fished a weighted nymph and something else on a dropper.
      I finished the day with over 20 fish, every single one of them a chub.
      SW Scotland, by the way!

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  11 месяцев назад

      @TroodosPoolGuy thanks for sharing, I bet the chub were a bit bigger than the ones I had. It’s very unusual although not unknown for chub to be in still water. The river I was on, flows into Lomond and are occasionally caught there too.

      Thanks for commenting buddy. No never tried a fly lure on the dropshot, I think soft plastic lures imitate bait fish far better than a fly lures but it will catch fish I’m sure drop shotting. Maybe something like a sculpin pattern hopped along the bottom would be successful.

      @@PiscatorUK-FishingSpoil was maybe the wrong word. Like how can you spoil fishing lol. I am in my late fifties and dropshotting with worms was never really known until about a decade or so ago. At least in the UK. There are much better ways to fish worm. I never really have a problem catching multiple species with this method. Had some massive carp dropshotting. A few fat roach and several bream over the years. Chub seem to prefer a moving bait I find. Or small top water lures. I cant even remember the last time I used bait.
