    Great defensive showing by Canada! Come to think of it, our offense never really got going during the tournament but the defensive play was as close to perfect as you can get. This team was much more dominant than the team sent in 2010.

    USA was already amazing at these olympics, but Canada was unbelievable.
    This canadian roster was probably the best national team of all time, likely even better than 1987 and the 2002 rosters, their amazing defense + Carey Price was almost unbeatable. They only let in three goals at the whole tournament
    The only thing that canada needed was a top notch/form forward, that could really push the other teams. Crosby, Toews, and Marleau weren't in the best form at this tournament and in turn they had low number of goals.

      Eric Cartman Sports are primarily for entertainment, I'm not entirely sure why someone who isn't a professional athlete would choose to live somewhere solely based on that country's skill at sports.
      If you look at actual metrics, like life expectancy, poverty rates, literacy, Canada comes out on top in many aspects.

      We have our own leagues like CFL and all the other leagues you listed are pretty much dominant American players so I don't know how you are comparing that as Canada vs. US when it is actually US vs. US. Also, Nascar, NFL, and NCAA are only in the US. The fact that you listed all that out really makes it look as if you are insecure...

      I wouldn't say nobody touches them. The US is right there with them. Beat them once and lost once in Vancouver. Lost in Sochi. So the US was 1-2 and even 7-7 on goals with Canada. Canada is a step better for sure but not much. And the US often wins against Canada at many levels; world juniors, U18, we just haven't won the highest level against Canada since 1996. But yes Canada is tops in hockey but not by much.

    Canada's country - wide approach to hockey is fiercely Darwinian. Good players are scouted as early as 10. Since winter rink time is always a hard cap, the better player gets more ice time. 12 games of house league becomes 20. Becomes 40. Becomes 70. Each stage of sifting has a better coaching and tougher players. Then you make the AHL/NHL. As far as outdoor sports go, unless snow is involved or you can train indoors we're at a disadvantage. Yes, we have oddballs that make it in Football or a summer sport, but for us Winter Olympics is like watching the Miami Dolphins face the Packers in January. Lambs to the slaughter.

    • @johnny5cents281
      @johnny5cents281 8 лет назад

      There's a bit of a disadvantage to the Candian hierarchy though since it tends to inevitably exclude many people because of physical differences related solely to age difference.
      If hockey were a more available sport for every country that'd be a more true test of which country can offer up the best players. Problem is ice rinks aren't as available as a bat and ball, or a basketball goal, or a soccer ball, etc.

    This was probably the best team in Olympic history since the Soviets in the 1970's and 1980's. They were the only teams that used to whip up on Canada. Since their collapse Canada has been the dominant power in hockey.

    • @tonygambino5905

      Stephen Barnes
      You obviously don't know hockey history. The USSR played NHL All Stars, the best of Canada in the Canada Cup, and SuperSeries games of Soviet club teams against NHL club teams. In all, USSR won 59% of all games between NHL'ers and their teams. The best team of all time was the 1981 Soviet National Team. That is indisputable. They raped Team Canada 8-1. That's 8-1. That Team Canada team included, Gretzky, Lafleur, Bossy, Trottier, etc. etc. etc. etc. In 1979 the Soviets beat the NHL All Stars 6-0, that's right, 6-0. That NHL team had TWENTY future hall of famers, the most on ANY team, in ANY sport, in HISTORY. That stand to this day. And the Soviets smoked them like they were a bantam team. So study hockey, then comment young man.

    • @winterdock
      @winterdock 9 лет назад

      Tony Gambino
      Your history is all about one game tourneys
      if the NHL were alowed to pllay in the Olympics during that era , there would have been a lot more Canadian medals tha any other country
      The 1980 Soviets could'nt beat college kids either

    • @tonygambino5905
      @tonygambino5905 9 лет назад +3

      That is purely hypothetical. To say "If...." Who is to say the Soviets wouldn't have massacred them in those situations as well? Its just as much an "If ... " as your statement. Since we don't have anything else to go on accept what was played, it is only reasonable to say the Soviets had the better teams.

      +Finding Truth Anyways what I meant was that your pretty dumb if you think Americans will be better than Canadians at hockey and that Canadians are only good at one sport.

      Same as before. We don't have anything against Canada. Its the other way around. Hockey happens to be Canada's game. Why the inferiority complex that you have to say that? Would we bring up Canada's performance in other sports?

      Tony Gambino Just like how basketball, American football or baseball would be America's game. Anyways, Canada barely does any summer sports in the Olympics.

    USA is no hockey rival for Canada. That is giving too much credit to USA. Only Canada vs Russia is the true hockey rivalry. Slava Canada Slava Russia!

      Joe Med It goes both ways, for example defenceman Jakob Chychrun the projected top 3 pick in 2016 was born in Florida to a Canadian father, he could have chosen to play for the US but he picked Canada.

      Joe Med I wholeheartedly disagree. While Russia has been Canada's historic rival, in the past 15-20 years the U.S.A has become Canada's biggest rival and threat. As much as I hate to admit it, the U.S.A is just as good as Canada now, and it's almost a matter of time before they beat us in the Olympics.
