Daniel Puckoff I disagree, the call was right. As it is shown in some other video replays, the puck did not fully cross the line. Puck has to fully cross the line to count as a goal. That defencemen ''Sotnieks" did a god job and that is what defencemen actually needs to do - help the goaltender. No illegal stuff there.
Daniel Puckoff It can be interpreted in many ways, but it really does not matter as the game is over and our arguments on RUclips change nothing. Incorrect to call it 3:1, though, as an earlier goal would have affected the rest of the game and perhaps the "third" goal would never even be scored as our team would mobilize and prefer to die instead of letting the puck go in. You cannot predict the future or what would have happened in the future of the past. Still, hats off to Gudlevskis for his outstanding performance and it does not matter if it's 54 or 55 shots - it was still the best performance of the Olympics in goaltending.
2 years since the game have passed, but I still have a smile on my face remembering how well our guys played that night. It was pretty clear Canada would win, but our players gave everything on the ice. Even though we lost, I`m still extremely proud of our players. And Sandis Ozolins... What a game to end his career. He was a true leader on the ice and cornerstone for our Olympic team. Congrats to Canada for winning the gold. :)
+Morbidejs any other team, and you guys probably manage to get through with a victory, Canada is just the best in the world. Wish this could've been a semifinal so you could've gotten a medal, cuz you guys deserved it.
as a Canadian it was the best performance by a goalie I've ever seen by a goalie in all my years watching the sport never seen a goalie put a team on his shoulders in a game like Gudlevskis did that night And Tampa Bay has him signed that team knows how to draft great goaltenders
i remember watching the live updates for this game in highschool a couple years ago and man me and my friends were just amazed by the Latvian goal keeper
1:45 - Latvia won the draw at the offside circle near their bench. The Latvian winger closest to the bench proceeded to jump off, and the replacing offensive player jumped on further down behind Canada's defense. The result was an amazing breakaway goal. Genius
We really dominated the hell out of that game but you would never know just by looking at the score. Hats off to that great performance from the goalie.
***** You clearly weren't watching the game. If you think Canada didn't dominate the game you don't know what dominating is. 57 shots to 16 is dominating. +23 at the face off circle is dominating. Canada had 2 cross bars in the first period. If it weren't for that and the goalies incredible performance it wouldn't have been 2-1 it would have been 10-1.
Guy Pierce Dominance should be mirrored in the score, or it doesnt matter, then its like barcelona in football who control the ball 80% of the time, but still cant win.
rollercoaster478 No, the score doesn't always say the whole story. Canada dominated the vast majority of the game but their goalie put up one of the most impressive performances anyone has ever seen. Watch the game, Canada played a discipline, tightly controlled game and gave up very few chances. Gudlevskis gave his team a chance to win.
o D a n i e l whatever, mate, if you didnt get it, I cant help you. That is how allegories work, you know...you link two different things together to explain one of them...tool.
Im a Latvian and I am proued that I play hockey in Latvia . Because even tho were a small country we made the big Canada strugle to get theyre 2cond goal .
I'm Canadian too and I can say that this game was David vs Golliath and David gave a really impressive performance. Your "Brick Wall" gave a lot of problems and frustration to our NHL all-stars players. Also, what a ROCKET by Shea Weber!!!
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the Latvian Linechange. Latvia got their breakaway by winning a face off at the offside dot closest to their own bench. When they won the face off, the winger jumped off the ice and another winger jumped on, behind the Canadian defence! It was a sneaky, legal play, drawn up by their head coach, former NHL Coach of the Year Ted Nolan.
As a Canadian goalie, I came to watch this video 4 years later to get inspired by GODlevskis. Is it the best performance ever? There's a rumor that Gudlevskis was so overwhelmed during this game that he vomited in his mouth at some point during the 3rd period.
когда вспоминаешь, что вытворял здесь Гудлевскис, становится грустно от того, что Тампа так и не дала ему раскрыться в НХЛ, просто вовремя обменяв. Он ведь по потенциалу Василевскому ничуть не уступает
They had a goaltender who stood on his head and a team of respectable players but not great. Men's Hockey has an upper tier of Canada, Finland, Russia, Sweden and United Sates which account for all but one of the medals won when the NHL participates. Even Canada's B-team - people who are not amongst our top 300 players who make a career in the NHL - were good enough to take home Bronze in Seoul while Russia's B-team - which has a much higher share of their upper talent due to the KHL - took home Gold. Latvia just does not have the breadth of talent The main issue with this summary video is it doesn't properly show just how totally dominant Canada was throughout the game. To highlight some of the chances that Latvia had, the video gives the impression that it was roughly even when it wasn't even close. When you watch the game in its entirety, the two teams were clearly on different levels. Latvia did remarkably well on the backs of stellar goaltending performances and they are not without talent, but goaltenders do not make teams and no they do not single handedly make a team deserve bronze.
well... knowing how strong is Canada and knowing how weak (NOT the weakest at least ) is Latvia, it was a good fight. Latvia was really good keeping that 1:1 but the Canada scores to 1:2 so yeah... it still was a very good match ;)
Latvia really should have won. It's kind of pathetic almost losing to a team with only one good NHL player. They should have destroyed Latvia. I think the Canadian team is overrated.
Frankie Ferri Canada did destroy Latvia, 6-1 a few weeks ago in Prague. It was just that the coach had Canada playing an insane defence first system. Canada could have blown away everyone in Sochi but they were told defence first.
***** You can still play amazing defence while putting up a lot of shots at the same time, clearly its you know doesn't know about hockey. If anything incredible defence spurs offence and builds momentum.
+Frankie Ferri Uhh no, they shouldn't have lol. If you actually watched the gaem you would know that Canada completely dominated the game all the way through. Latvia did not deserve to win just because their goalie was doing well. And overrated? What? Canada won the gold medal you idiot. They also had possibly the best defence ever at the olympics.
This is honestly the worst possible commentator for a hockey game 2 sports you next mix are hockey and soccer and this shows why the commentator uses soccer terms and doesn’t make an effort most of the time to listen to this is terrible and is truly disgraceful
i am Canadian. but I am proud of Latvia they deserve a medel
VelkroVX Thanks
True tnx,🔥🇱🇻🇱🇻
Me too I'm Finnish but i hope Latvija wins a medal
It finally happened
Ok
Gudlevskis defendet 55 from 57 shots on goal.. Hats off :)

one of the best hockey games in olympic history. the fans were so into it!
agreed. one of the best all time
+MegaMinecraftPremium Totally agree. One of the best games I've seen.

You guys had just as great as a run as Slovenia, possibly better
Morbidejs Your goalie was friggin' insane! Nothing could get past him!

I like how Latvia's goalie is smiling in the end even though he lost. He knows he played well.

As a Canadian, I say the goalie did one heck of a job. as did the team. Well done !

as a Canadian I will tell you I watched that game and that was the best goal tending effort I have seen in years.

It was a hell of an effort, I'll give you that.

Darzins actually scored the last goal that would be scored against Canada this olympics.
I don't know if the Olympics could've picked someone to commentate who could possibly sound more bored.
if you watch it while having biscuits and tea, its actually not that bad.
Especially considering how epic that matchup was
its awesome how kristers still had a smile even after losing
Good point

Well... we had never been 8th but we have been at least twice 7th :D
dude played the game of his life and he knew it.
Good job Latvia !
Awsome job Latvia....
As a Canadian I am so proud of the Latvian team and I consider Latvians to be my brothers
The most epic game ever...
1:48 Lauris Darzins is an artist
i been watching him since he was a young dude he has the talent to be NHL player
I would rather have the google translate voice commentating this game or even Pierre Mcguire !
true dat... these need live commentary
Coach Nolan really got the most out of his squad

Being too young for the Summit Series, that was the most stressful game I've seen, or at least as much as the 2010 final game.
At the end of the day, nobody talks about the game against Sweden. We talk about 72 Summit, Gretzky to Lemieux, the Golden Goal, and 55 saves
Латвия - супер!
I remember how our goalie collapsed and was exhausted. Amazing game and we really did fight well agents such a strong team.
What a match!

Latvia has wery good hockey team Dinamo Riga.
I love Dinamo Riga
I am from the best hockey country - Latvia... ;)

Gudlevskis like a wall
Great goalie
Hats off the that Latvia goalie who's name I can't spell
But we won this year!!!🥶🥵
чтобы так латыши сыграли бы в 2016 году
Latvia should've won that game their goalie was a brick wall
+AppleGuy Shots were 56-16, with Price in goal Latvia would have needed 50 shots at least to slip one by him.
+F Dannn not really tbh
Deus Actually really. When Price is in the zone you need 50+ shots to even have a chance at 2 goals past him.
You are an idiot.
AppleGuy just because their goalie was amazing, doesn't mean they deserved to win
Bad luck for Latvia being placed against Canada in the quarters
+Kosta Thomas but Latvia wins USA 6:5 :D that was fun game :D
Im Latvian and im proud of what they did that day! Good job for Canada , but still Latvia gave you the most problems in the tournament IMO
As a Canadian, this was by far the most memorable game in 2014.
