    Hey, Cody! Great show! I'm a new subscriber and a life-long Giants fan! I enjoy your takes a positivity, and Ricky, Dan and others have all been great! Keep it going!
    Personally, I'm really high on Tyler Fitzgerald and some of the other youngsters (Ramos, Eldridge, Roupp, etc.). Will be interesting to see if Luciano can become a left fielder or not. Marco to me is a huge question mark at this point!

      Hey appreciate you! Really like Fitz as well! Just personally prefer him in more of a super utility role, definitely should be in the lineup nearly every day though in some capacity.

    Great content Cody, agree with your assessment. I notice that Fitz spray chart is pull happy, he needs to learn to hit the ball the other way.

      I definitely think it would help him overall as a hitter to use the field more frequently. Could potentially help his whiff/K rates. Power numbers would likely dip a bit since his power is almost entirely to the pull side. Guess it depends on if they’d rather he act more like a table setter.

    Great info as usual Cody, I agree with about all of this. I like Fitzgerald, I see him as a Bellinger type guy and like Bellinger his frame screams 1b or outfield. I guess time will tell

    Free agency and spring training will tell us much more. Giants have a large hill to climb to get back from their disappointing season and poor finish within the NL West.

      I agree to an extent. The players I had in my “should be on the roster” category I’m factoring in what reasonably might occur in FA. The two guys that could get bumped there though (Encarnacion and Schmitt) I see as likely to be on the club regardless of FA though. I don’t see the club signing multiple middle IF so Schmitt likely makes it as a bench piece and Encarnacion being able to play corner OF/1B and the DH spot gives him a pathway to ABs. Though if they signed a 1B and an OF he good get bumped off too. But definitely agree ST will have an impact for the fringe guys.

      @@EYDShow I am much more excited about Encarnacion as a DH, 1B, or OF spot starter. I view him a a Soler, who can actually play a couple positions.

    I agree with the Harrison take. He hasn’t been impressive and really is more of a liability in starts imo

    I think the Giants are in a decent spot. C,1B,3B, The outfield and the Bullpen all look set to me. They have the innings eaters and depth for the starting rotation too. Their needs are fun really, go shopping for a star, an Ace and a SS. That’s the fun stuff to go shopping for. I would consider it a great offseason if they signed an Ace, and traded for Bichette. I guess im higher on the current state of the team than most because I believe in the kids that have debuted the past two seasons and the ones knocking on the door like Eldridge and Juan Sanchez and Wisenhunt. I strongly believe Posey when he moved back two years ago waited for the right time to slide into the job when the timing was right. Seriously their is a foundation now, it’s not 2022 when they tried running back the 2021 year, and it’s not 2023 where Farhans Judge money failed went it went to stripling and Haniger, it’s just a real decent look now, why the hell would Melvin sign up for a rebuild at this stage of his career? Why would Buster slide in during this TIMING and close the Chapman deal after they got a gold glove catcher now, and 3 homegrown stud SPs and a bullpen that’s ready to rock if healthy and used properly, the OF has homegrown depth for the first time in since the 70’s, 3B has depth, 1B has fun on the horizon I mean really maybe I’m sipping some kool aid but I’m optimistic, I just think Buster wouldn’t come in during an entire rip to the studs rebuild, neither would Melvin and Chapman wouldn’t sign an extension for that ether just my opinion. I also think Farhan is the type of person to sign up for the rebuild and be the scapegoat and let Buster get all the flowers too, if Harrison and Birdsong, and Casey, And Bailey and Eldridge and Miller etc all the kids Farhan brought in pop and help win games I’ll give him the credit for sure. Seems like that was the plan all along, Owners hired Farhan to rebuild on the margins and when kids finally are here and put in place, Hire a real manager and a President that’s ready to go win, Buster deciding to be the president himself is just a bonus

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  Месяц назад

      Yeah I view the needs currently as:
      SS
      SP
      RH C
      LH bullpen piece
      2 impact bats than can hit between 2-5 in the lineup
      Some of these needs might be filled internally. Especially the lefty reliever. Some players could fit multiple needs (Adames, Bichette). I don’t think you’re wrong though saying the core is here. I like the young core, just need those impact guys to get them over the hump, along with continued development from those that are here already.

      You're not wrong....I just think we have quite a ways to go...just to not be the 4th best team in our division. If the Dodgers were the only team we were looking up at, I'd feel a lot better.

    I really like McCray, but his swing and miss is scary as hell, he misses some balls by a foot. Does Bryce's high strikeout numbers in the AZFL concern you or this an example of a young player needing more seasoning before he gets to the show. I would much rather he stay in Sacramento even for the whole season and get the growing pains out of the way, rather than have him on the Sac-SF shuttle frequently. Lastly Harrison is really scary to me, he has the Anthony DeSclafani 2022/2023 badness to him all the time, he needs to show quite a bit this year to show me he is a real prospect, he throws quite a few meatballs right over the plate. For all the talk about him being a number 1 or number 2 starter I just don't see. I like Birdsong, Beck, and Roupp much better than him.

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  Месяц назад +1

      That’s definitely my concern with McCray. But he moved quickly from AA so I do think he can improve his pitch selection/recognition. I will say I’m not all that concerned with Bryce’s AFL strikeouts right now. They weren’t an issue at any level this season and Will Clark just got back from working with him and mentioned Bryce is exhausted right now. Think he’s pushing close to 130 games this season so he may just need some time away. I’m definitely not advocating to rush him, but I wouldn’t hold him back either. Just let his bat dictate where he’s at. Harrison is a tough case. The fastball, even with the dip in velocity, was still extremely effective. It’s one of the better fastballs in baseball. Changeup was better than I expected too. But the slurve needs to be scrapped and his command needs to tighten up at least some. He’ll always have some wildness but right now he’s pretty all over the place. I’d like to see a slider/sweeper with sharper break and not that loopy slurve that hitters aren’t fooled by.

      Dragging his feet? These things normally take 3-4 weeks to do. He’s operating in a normal timeline.

      All we can do is hope he gets it right, but just like every employer interviewing people for a position, sometimes you don’t get it right. But panicking over him taking a normal amount of time is pointless.
