Rebeca Andrade is simply a PHENOMENAL vaulter! She flies high from the amazing block she gets, and her form is always on point. Like all other vaults however, it likely won't be given the difficulty score it deserves, which is unfortunate, but she'll still have an incredibly difficult skill named after her if completed at the Games, and nothing can take that from her once accomplished!

This vault is very difficult 😑 trying to get 3 twists around with no margin for error or simply being just short because there is not alot of time to get it around all the way. It appears in training that she is very close but in reality if you land short a significant injury may result as you don't know where you are while twisting. Well, I find that the recent video from CBG showing her training it (likely over a very soft mat or possibly over a foam pit) is actually very promising. She seems to be finishing the 2.5 twists around 30-40 cm (~1 ft) above where the ground likely is, which means she has enough time to finish the last 0.5 twist and land comfortably. The Korean gymnast was definitely not prepared/powerful enough for it and kept landing with 1/4 twist missing, which is absolutely terrible and I'm amazed she didn't obliterate her ACL like that. But I believe Rebeca is very attuned to her body and capabilities nowadays and she won't go for it if she doesn't feel springy enough to get the necessary height to safely complete all 3 twists during vault finals. Or if she messes up her block or whatever. She's aware that another Olympic vault gold medal and a named skill is not worth ending her career for. She could get it named next year if she's not fully confident in it for Paris. But from the most recent videos it seems like she is currently able to land it safely, given a very good run and block of course. She's a fast twister, as seen by her amazing Chengs.

In my opinion, Rebecca is one of the top 3 vaulters in women’s history. Simone (because of difficulty, ingenuity, and tenure), McKayla M (the highest and most iconic Amanar we’ve ever seen) and Rebecca for having the best Cheng in the world.
I'm so excited and I hope she can perform it healthily. I feel bad that the video was released earlier than she wanted, but it will give so much excitement to see if she'll do it in the games.
the only issue with her TTY attempts is she doesn't rotate fast enough to complete all 3 rotations. her chest is open for too long and it slows her down significantly.
I think we could see this in Paris games. However, I think where here vault rotation lays could have an influence as well. If it’s early? She may feel fresh and able to get the power needed to safely land. She’s a smart competitor. She won’t risk metal contention just for the sake of a name sake. These games have some heavy hitter gymnasts on their A-game. Going to be one exciting Olympic Games!
Your pronunciation of her name is so nice and accuarate to our language thank you, I always get annoyed when people try to "english-fy" names just because the pronunciation can be a bit tricky. Thank you
That sounds a bit strange, considering she always gets her Amanar very comfortably around, but struggles to land it precisely, in terms of ideal finishing position. Over the last cycle we've seen her land it almost always with a big bounce forward, because she's probably over-powering it out of safety. She might also just prefer backwards landings and want to train the triple because she has the height and twisting speed for it. It's possible the Amanar feels weird to her because she's been doing the DTY for so long, alongside the Cheng, so now adding only a half twist to land forward may be hard to calibrate. But idk, I'm not in her head and I'm not even a gymnast, I just love watching this sport. From the most recent video it seems like she can land the TTY safely, based on the height she's at before the last 0.5 twist, and I'm sure she won't take unnecessary risks to her knees just for another gold medal, given how well her career is going. I hope Simone goes after her, so that she's not swayed by anything that happens and only makes the decision based on her gut in the moment.
I doubt that she’ll debut it at the Paris Olympics. It’s too risky, she could end up finishing off the podium. At least she could still get the silver medal if she sticks to the Cheng and the Amanar.
She didn't even mean for this video to be released, the Brazilian Olympic Committee leaked it without her knowledge, so either she meant to keep it a secret for Paris or they're hyping it up when it's not even ready.
I hope she does it. Gymnasts are amazing but we sorely need more variety for womens vault, right now it is just Amanar and Cheng copy paste other than the YDP of Simones. It would a great video topic for you to explain the two different vaults a Gymnast has to perform.
@@chariezwane3981same! I think the only gymnasts who really do them now are European gymnasts, but it's still rare since many opt for front handsprings instead. Alexa does them too and she's great!
@adarshminj2543 It's been so frustrating watching so many American gymnastics only have one vault prepared too. I would tell them to at least work on a 2nd w/a lower D score that's impeccably executed. Unless they have a physical excuse, they should all be doing two vaults.
@@KaiOpaka Tbh 'very difficult' vaults are just not worth it anymore due to their low start values now. Remember the time when amanar vault was a bench mark for winning the all around when it was worth 6.5/6.3 however it's not anymore. A solid dty is fine nowadays. But you are right though. Part of the problem is also the harsh deductions in the new code of points that just limits gymnast from trying new stuff and we can see that the execution standard have gone low over the last decade. I still miss Nastia, Carly, Khorkina, Shawn, Kexin, Mustafina, Komova era.
@@kitenne4944 agreed. This is just the footage they wanted the public to see. Just to rile everyone up. I don’t think anybody thinking strategically would show their hand

Idk man this isn't a particularly strategic sport but i guess if it's a truly legit vault we'll all have to speculate the reasoning for sharing this weirdly specific and underperfomed video clip...
Gymnasts who trains the Amanar at the gym would usually do a triple or 2 3/4 twist in order for their body to get used to so much twisting. She won't be the first gymnast to attempt it at the Olympics though as it was first attempted at the Rio olympics by the north Korean gymnast.
That would be awesome if she does the TTY. I love Simone Biles but it would spice things up and make the competition so much more thrilling when other athletes can seriously challenge her. Damn it I cannot wait for the Game!
@@1itslaurahere1it's an extremely difficult and technical vault and she only landed it twice in comp before so idk if she'd bring it back. It would be amazing if she did both her vaults in Paris though. I love the biles I and I hope someone else trains it one day. Rebecca could definitely do it
@@ansonpangSimone was literally training the skill and dropped it due the difficulty rating not being worth it. And that’s when she moved onto the Yurchenko double pike.
@adarshminj2543 remember everyone she hasn't completed the the vault yet to be named after her so if gets named after it would be almost perfect and she probably get gold because everyone else is doing almost the same vaults where as simones is the only different one that no one else can do. So Rebecca in my mind is the only one who can unsent her at the moment. Going to be very interesting exciting but curious who win the gold ✨️ on vault most likely obviously a stuck landing
@@ot12stan61 getting three twists around is far more difficult than amanar with blind landing. In 2012 Amanar was worth 7 tenths over dty so yeah tbh 5.8 will be crazy low for such a difficult vault
Simone was all over the internet practicing the YDP prior to debuting it. It may not have been "leaked," but it didn't stop her. If Rebecca and her coaches are confident in it, then she wouldn't let it stop her either.
@@nicoleoliveira2611 Mas era com ligação né? Tava na cara que não ia dar certo, ela sempre chegava com falta... Eles foram irresponsáveis de não tirar aquela passada.
5.8 is so funny to me when that was a DTY value 10 years ago 😂 and not too long ago an amanar was a 6.5 so this would’ve been a 7.0 at the minimum. It’s crazy how values have changed so much, but for a clean DTY, there’s not much space to take off other than the pretty standard 0.5-0.8 that’s taken off right off the bat for any vault that isn’t total perfection. So it makes sense to even out the event scores when they decide the new average E score for bars beam and floor is like a 7.8 and anything above 8.2 is excellent. It just makes me wonder what things are really separating gymnasts with their scores when each skill gets some arbitrary flexed foot deduction which add up to basically the same as a whole fall.
It’s a little frustrating how unreliable beam scoring is especially. A perfectly hit routine even 6-8 years ago would’ve still almost have a full point of seemingly arbitrary deductions. Now, even the Chinese gymnasts with textbook accuracy still get at least 1.5 off. It’s madness
If she hasn't done it in any competition yet, she shouldn't risk it at the Olympics. She shouldn't do it to defend her title or compete against Simone. She and her team should take a cue from Simone herself and do it to challenge and compete not just against others but herself as well.
The first time she did the cheng was also at the Olympics in Japan. She has already said in an interview, which took place a few weeks ago, that she will only do the new elements if she is confident.
@@materiassanfran6055 She debuted her Cheng months before on her instagram, where she was actually landing it; so no one was surprised at Tokyo when she debuted it. The TTY not so much; as we can see from the video released she is clearly under-rotated and most likely fell as they cut the landing.
even if simone falls and her coach was not standing there she would still win, and I believe you are right cause even if Andrade upgrades to TTY she still can fall short, simone is so consistent
@@materiassanfran6055 many people had already done a cheng. it was not considered to be elusive/impossible. no woman has done the TTY successfully and for good reason
the Amanar debuted in 2000 at the Sydney Olympics and Simona Amanar the Gymnast after which the vault is named finished 6th in Apparatus finals with a 9.54. its hard to repeat Apparatus titles at the Olympics my guess is its going to be Simone Biles Gold Rebecca Andrade Silver and Mai Maurakami of Japan Bronze on Vault
The video does not show her completing the last half twist, and is so low to the ground I don't see the air time to pull it around either, w/o hurting her knees. thoughts on this?
I noticed this too. The video says that she has had struggles with her knee so the last half twist could be an issue. They don’t say that she did or didn’t do it In training. I think the Brazilian Olympic committee wants to keep the final seconds under wraps and I don’t blame them.
@@bleeka325 Thanks! It would be so nice to see a triple, done with a great block off the table , and with super tight form , to a safe landing. I'm all in for the excitement of the games.
She has a perfect body biometry to do this. Rebecca is totally able to execute with perfection. She deserves to write her name on code. Brazil suport you always in Paris.
The lowering of all those vault scores was part of a revamp of the cop to make vault scoring more in line with the other events so 5.8-6 for a tty makes sense to me. An amanar is only worth 5.4 you can’t have a tty be a 6.4. If this were 2008 it would be a joke but with the way vaults are graded in the cop now 5.8 isn’t wild
And just to clarify I think they should all be raised back up I think a 5.4 for an Amanar is insultingly low. A 5.4 beam or bars routine is nothing special.
@@adamtravis9380 Some of the most difficult release skills values are probably going to be downgraded at some point, as well as highly valued beam skills. The amount of bar workers working with that kind of difficulty is also very few, and the execution deductions are far more extensive than vault. The best vaulters are getting 4-5 tenths off and the best bar workers are getting an over a point deducted usually. Kaylia neymours and qiu qiyuan (the only ones with 7.2 start values) highest scores this year were 15.4-15.5 which, like biles 15.975 are huge anomalies. Most other gymnasts are around 6, simone biles is a 6.1 for example. With the twisting vaults it’s always been the step ups with twists are very uniform so you can’t have a bigger jump just because it’s new or hasn’t been done before
I wonder why she doesn’t go for doubles. Especially since twisting is more risky for her knees. She has the block to easily do a double back or even a half-on double front (has anyone done that before?). Maybe that is a stretch since she doesn’t do front doubles anywhere else, but she gets so much height in her half-ons, if anyone can do it it’s Rebeca. If she has trained them before, I haven’t seen it - correct me if I’m wrong.
Her blocking is absolutely state of the art- if anyone can do it, she can. However, if she wishes to protect her surgically repaired knee, I would completely understand! Her health and well-being are always top priority! 🇧🇷
What bothers me about this cropped video is that they don't show her landing. In every training I've seen of her she doesn't have the ability to get all 3 twists around. If she doesn't, she's risking an injury for a vault that will be downgraded. That doesn't seem like the best idea.
There’s a lot of talk about her doing it, but there isn’t one clip of her actually performing the skill. I’m not saying she can’t do it, but I think they are purposefully holding back any video of it to see if she tries it in vault finals
depends on the clip bc if this is recent then there is no way she is ready to compete it, but if this is from a while ago then it is definitely possible
Apart from just difficulty there's very little margin for error between landing it really well and a landing that potentially results in crippling injury. If you landing facing the vault and you're under-rotated that's really hard on the ankles for a start. Then there's a risk of torsional fracture if you land while still twisting and don't get both feet planted at the same time.
I have followed your videos for a long time😍Your videos really inspired me so much. May I ask if I could translate the video into Chinese to share gymnastics knowledge to Chinese audience?
that Amanar at 0:41 is the most effortless that i've seen. Also I really want Rebeca to have a skill named after her, i was hoping it would be the "Li xioaopeng" valt, the progression of the Biles I, it would be iconic given her already iconic Cheng. But the TTY is cool too, I just want her to have a skill to call hers.
If having a move named after her was the goal, she should have competed it other events first for the experience outside the gym. Suni Lee debuted her upgrade at a couple of national events, and didn't have much success with it in competition in spite of practicing it successfully in the gym. Hopefully, she can bring it back for the Olympics, but there's also the matter of her kidneys being healthy.
I too would love for Rebeca to get her name in the COP on ANY apparatus but definitely not at the risk of injury. Having said that, I think she will only perform it if she is 100% sure that she can land it and I want her to.
This clip is from March/April and she didn't even want it to be released, it was leaked. She and her team know what they're doing, she has been very careful since her last ACL injury. If she feels like it, she will compete it. The last Olympics were also the first ever time she performed the Cheng and she won gold. She knows better than us. She's a phenomenon!
@KelsKingdom-h1q I mean... What's a phenomenon in YOUR book? Rebeca's the 2020 olympic, 2021 and 2023 world champion on the vault and 2022 world all-around champion. She is one of the only three gymnasts to have medalled on every event in the history of World Championships in this century. She executed the BEST cheng vault EVER. Let's not forget that AG values both difficulty and execution, and often even when her peers do best in the first Andrade constantly beats them in the last. All this with a waaaay bigger background of injuries. So yep, she's an icon, a warrior and a phenomenon. Both Andrade and Biles are IN THEIR OWN WAY.
@KelsKingdom-h1qshe's torn her acl 3 times and won an olympic gold and silver as well as 3 world championships after the third tear. her trajectory is remarkable and significantly differs from other gymnasts seeing as her biggest wins came years after three reconstructive surgeries and she keeps on improving. shes certainly worthy of being called a phenomenon
Hypothetically speaking if she were to fall on this Vault in the EF, you guys think she can still get Bronze? Considering her Cheng can score between 15.1-15.3
Let's say it gets 6.0. with a fall, it'll start from 5.0 (just as her dty), so my guess is she could get high 13s / low 14s if performed with a fall, which (imagining she score's smt like a 14) she'd get around 14'5+ average, which is, definitely, medal material
No. If she doesn't complete the rotations around fully it gets downgraded to a Amanar like what happened to Hong Un Jong and then deducted from there. So the most she would get would be about a 14 for it. There's a strong chance that won't be enough with Carey, Yeo and possible Moreno competing in vault finals.
Rebeca is a great gymnast, but do not believe she will attempt the triple twist because she is not quite square to land it. In the videos she is a quarter turn short as she is landing. That is into a pit which is not what she would have to land on. She is a phenomenal vaulter with her long lines and she has an exceptional Amanar.
See the video !! They showed omg
I really hope she does, but only if she's 90% confident in it. Her and Simone going head to head with their signature vaults would be so insane to see
I think we could see this in Paris games.
I really really hope she nails it at the Olympics, Rebeca is such a hard worker and amazing gymnast
Your pronunciation of her name is so nice and accuarate to our language thank you, I always get annoyed when people try to "english-fy" names just because the pronunciation can be a bit tricky. Thank you
BTW Rebeca may just be training the TTY to improve her Amanar.
Thing is her Amanar is good anyway
@@sollte1239, it depends. She tends to finish that last half twist on her amanar pretty late.
@@calihapamamavideo of the triple out
@@robertoomena3801 I saw. It’s close. Still slightly underrotated, but very close.

Very impressive. I pray no injuries happen.
I hope she does it. Gymnasts are amazing but we sorely need more variety for womens vault, right now it is just Amanar and Cheng copy paste other than the YDP of Simones. It would a great video topic for you to explain the two different vaults a Gymnast has to perform.
I miss seeing Tsuk type vaults
@@chariezwane3981same! I think the only gymnasts who really do them now are European gymnasts, but it's still rare since many opt for front handsprings instead. Alexa does them too and she's great!
@@chariezwane3981 Amanar has become rare nowadays compared to a decade ago when almost all top girls could do amanar. Now it's mostly DTY
I noticed that. I guess the Brazilian Olympic committee wants to keep the final result to themselves and I don’t blame them
Based on her hair color in the clip (she dyes it often) this was filmed months ago so it's likely she's improved since then.

Gymnasts who trains the Amanar at the gym would usually do a triple or 2 3/4 twist in order for their body to get used to so much twisting. She won't be the first gymnast to attempt it at the Olympics though as it was first attempted at the Rio olympics by the north Korean gymnast.
Rebeca is incredible, I hope she pulls this off. So excited to see her in Paris

Cool for Rebeca Andrade is doing her on the Vault in triple twisting.

5.8 is a joke for a TTY. The COP on vault needs to be completely revamped
@@samanthabutterfield5172 I disagree because we have top bar workers with D scores at 7.2. Top vaulters should be on a similar playing field
I hope she gets a skill named after her, I love Rebeca!
This is our Rebeca for you, world ❤
Her blocking is absolutely state of the art- if anyone can do it, she can.
I stoped feeling my legs just by seeing her muscles contracting... hahaha
depends on the clip bc if this is recent then there is no way she is ready to compete it, but if this is from a while ago then it is definitely possible
She does it so good 😮😮

Not many can pull off amanar, so TTY is for the gods of the sport
@@adarshminj2543 Lol. No.
The vault finals were today, she got the silver medal. She didn't do this jump, but even if she did, it wouldn't make her win gold, sadly.

that Amanar at 0:41 is the most effortless that i've seen.

This!

@@FkaRon Well you have Jade and Yeo who can definitely score high on a good day.
No. If she doesn't complete the rotations around fully it gets downgraded to a Amanar like what happened to Hong Un Jong and then deducted from there.
