How To Change a Badger Insinkerator Garbage Disposal (Don't Overlook These 2 Things!)

Changing your garbage disposal is not all that hard. Just like everything you need the right tools. A large Allen wrench will do the trick.
But, take my advice, get these two things: A new cord and Wago lever nuts. These will make your life SO much easier. You can try to string the old cord but I'm telling you, if you're inexperienced with wiring, just get a new one for $10 or so. Easy as pie to install.
The hardest issue I had was actually holding the garbage disposal up with one hand while trying to latch it under the sink with the other. Whew!

Be sure to warn everyone to punch out the hole where the dishwasher drain hose attaches. Guess how I found out....first time using the dishwasher, water shoots out of the aerator all over the kitchen. That plug is there in case you don't have a dishwasher. But if you DO have one, watch out!

Yes I forgot too. I was lucky no big leaks though. And, rather than removing disposal and knocking plug out, I'm thinking about drilling it out. Thinking of drilling slowly and holding a vacuum want up near the hole to suck out any drill bits/debris so they won't get into disposal chamber. Do you think that'll be adequate or should I do it the other way?

Josh a lot of times this wrench also comes with a new unit. As a good brand name unit will have a Allen wrench. That you insert in the bottom of the unit in case it jams. You insert the Allen wrench and spin the blades manually. Make sure the switch is off. Or better yet the breaker as well. Never can be to safe!

I have the Ace Hardware Model 2000 1/2 HP heavy duty. Works fine for more than 6 years so far, no problems. Doesn't pay to skimp on motor power.
