I got canceled (though they weren't calling it that back in 2009 when the social media juggernaut was just starting to take its current form) over this issue, and I rebuilt my life in a different region and career, but many relationships fractured irrevocably. Was at the Bridge Theatre recently. Their toilets marked as being gender neutral yet every man was in the male toilet and every woman in the female. That was in an audience of hundreds. So who exactly are they making these changes for? A minuscule minority and certainly not the majority of arts lovers. Why not designate disabled single use toilets as gender neutral - as they already are?

I love Father Ted! One special memory I have is my father who was early in his dementia diagnosis (lost most of his speech but kept his sense of humor) dying of laughter with me watching episodes when it was on Netflix.
I'm a scientist. It's currently impossible to create human organs out of tissues found on the body. I'm female. If I have to have my vagina and vulva removed due to cancer, I could get surgeons to try to create a cosmetic facsimile of those organs/tissues that I've lost but it'll never be a vagina: it'll be a tunnel in my groin made from intestine or colon but it will not be a vagina because the tissues aren't the same, the structure isn't the same. And this is as a female who has the pelvic floor that used to support/contain a vagina. How could any man get a real vagina when this isn't even possible for women who have lost their actual vagina? Vaginaplasty tries to create the appearance of a vulva and vagina with some of an actual vulva and vagina's sexual function, namely a canal or tunnel that one can put something in and hoping the person has some sexual sensation function. But an actual vagina and vulva are more than that: they are part of the female reproductive tract which in healthy women also includes a cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, the ligaments holding it all in place, the clitoris (most of which is internal and can't be seen from the outside). Our reproductive system creates an egg every menstrual cycle, our endometrium builds up and sheds every cycle we're not pregnant, out cervix creates mucus and our vagina creates excretions too as a mechanism of self cleaning. Our vagina expands during sexual arousal, blood goes to our vulva. We can grow a baby in our uterus and during labour, the cervix opens up, the vagina stretches and expands so the baby can be born. We grow a placenta during gestation which is a whole new organ specifically there to facilitate gestation. It's not possible to make these things out of tissues just lying around on our bodies. The male reproductive and urinary systems are unique too with their own functions, functions which can't be replicated by a metoidioplasty or phalloplasty. These surgeries should be ILLEGAL in my view, even on the right sex who sadly lost their genitals due to illness or injury. They are incredibly prone to (severe) complications and it's NEVER life-saving as these are all COSMETIC surgeries.

The last time we were home in Ireland I had a deep and at times heated discussion on this issue with my stepson. He has gone down the rabbit hole a bit on the whole trans rights movement and that these men are actual women if they themselves say so.He works with one who is in a supervisor position to him, so that might be an explanation. I hope some of my arguments such as how homophobic this movement is and how misogynistic got him at least thinking, but I fear not. He took quite some pride in telling me that Dublin might just be the most trans friendly town there is, to which I replied that it might also be the most women unfriendly then, since the former cannot exist without infringing on the rights of the other.

You're absolutely right - except I think that day has already come. There has been an elevation of mental ill-health (or faked mental ill-health) as some kind of status symbol or marker of specialness - and by health practitioners the over-diagnoses and over-medication of some conditions - anxiety for example. I'm all for de-stigmatizing neurodivergence and mental health struggles but somehow we've gone way too far so that now it's almost an ambition to have a medical diagnosis of some kind. And that's why my children's "pass the parcel" only has one prize, at the end! It's for your own good kiddos, you'll thank me one day.

I loved it; so witty, charming and interesting and then 'hardwork' towards the end, only 'hardwork' in the way of having to read how awful people were to you, it broke my heart, I was appalled. I have read up a lot and watched a lot on this subject area and it's so full of s**t people and a s**t narrative and the fact that people can't see it really amazes me. I'm going to be upset when he gets into the actual medical transition part. I had an argument with one of those cult members and she basically threw her hand up and said, "Why do you care so much about what other people do with their bodies." I replied, "With the lack of medical evidence for long term puberty blockers and the high rate of complication when there is surgical intervention AND what we already know about the permanent affects of steroid use (which is what testosterone is) on female body builders, the real question is why you DON'T care." I tell a lot of people I am for Trans Rights. I am for Trans Rights so much that I want to see these medical procedures curbed in their widespread acceptance and more research done, because I'm seeing a widespread decrease in the overall quality of life. And I cannot, by all good conscience, want to see that happening to my friends, their children, or my peers. These are people who mean too much to me. They DESERVE a proper diagnosis. They don't need to be sold a cure. AGPs deserve proper diagnosis and therapy to cope with their condition. Women deserve to feel safe in their own single-sexed spaces and to be treated as individuals with their femininity honored and not worn like it's a costume. Men have the right to be men and not feel hated or resented for doing so.
I somewhat agree with a lot of what you have said, but I'm just not sure anymore what 'trans rights' even means? I am 100% behind the right for anybody to present in anyway they wish - whether that be androgynous, or flamboyant, or whatever - and not to be discriminated against because of that. And I am 100% behind people who suffer from gender dysphoria being able to access appropriate health care...but people are not inherently 'trans'. If Anyone is treated disrespectfully or aggressively, or denied access to services etc, that is wrong, but we are talking about a mental health issue, and one that should not allow men to access women and girls spaces. And that is what has been completely lost sight of in recent years.
I agree with you. I realized recently there was a time when we bled people to cure their disease. There was at time when we recommended beating wives to cure hysteria. There was a time when we thought lobotomies were the answer to curing insanity. Now we cut people's bodies up to cure gender dysphoria. This trans stuff started ringing alarm bells for me back in 2014. Firstly due to the fact these ‘experts’ who believe we don’t have souls believed we can be born in the wrong body, then as concern for my young sons growing up in such a confusing world.
I became enraged about this, in 2002, when my daughter came home from High School, telling me how one of her friends had been raped by a boy, who identified as a girl, so was allowed to use the girl's restroom. Later, we found out there were three other girls, who'd he also raped, but were too ashamed to admit it.
It started in Hollyweird. Probably by kids who’d been told to dress a certain way or because something happened to them. Will smiths son once dressed like a girl before it all started.
My 21-year-old daughter on the autism spectrum "came out" as non-binary last Christmas. She self-diagnosed after listening to a song. She hates her breasts, and plans to cut them off in 3 years. I'm working with a parent coach to try to get her to desist before it's too late. She said that people in her generation need to define their identity through gender in order to "stand out". She literally said that. I love her and told her I will not affirm her. And I will not stop fighting for her.
Tell her the women in T will end up using diapers. And you think those women are ridiculous for damaging their healthy bodies. Also, tell her obsession with cutting off her own breasts is a mockery to any woman who suffered cancer. She's like someone trying to give herself some face burns to look cool and so, makes a mockery of fire survivors.

I think you’re totally right about parents that have transed their kids - they are in most cases not going to be willing to concede that maybe they were wrong because that would be admitting to being a terrible parent that ruined their child’s life.

Have a friend with a daughter who has been having emotional issues. He was literally told, verbatim, that if he didn't go along with a plan to treat his child as a trans male, she would kill herself. Fortunately, he and his wife will not allow any medical intervention so long as she is still a minor.

When Graham talks about Bill Bailey and his conversation 'why did you get into this Graham' he highlights what I think is experienced by a lot of women by the men in our lives. So many men don't even consider anything harmful to women as a worthy cause for debate. It's not even that women are hated; we're just not even thought about, and thus considered as whole people. How can a man possibly have the train of thought Bill Bailey has without the inability to see women as human. Graham gets that, and like me as a woman, completely flummoxed at such a train of thought. Male centred world is just so used to rolling its eyes at what harms a woman.
It's so much like misogyny in rap music. If men want to write songs about beating up women, graping women, calling women names that had once been as verboten as any racial slur, then so be it. Listening to a lot of proponents of “woke” culture, including the trans contagion, you would expect that they would be huge fans of individuality. But no, there is nobody else that expects and will only accept complete mental and vocal conformity, no questioning, doubt, or disagreement can be allowed. Great interview. This is a really good man. It was great to listen to, and honestly with what’s going on in the world it’s so good to hear someone talking sense with such passion.
One of my central grievances with this issue, from a clinical perspective, is that mental health co-morbidities and HUGELY significant statistical figures which show deeply alarming similarities between these "trans kids" are completely shoved behind the curtain in any public debate, report, commentary etc. Nobody wants to discuss the relevance of these statistics and findings. To me, that's the most despicable and terrifying part of this scandalous negligence and wrong thinking. These kids are being handled so badly that I'm sick of expressing my horror; the voices of authority think they're right and I'm not just wrong but a terrible person worth destroying for having a different take on the idea of 'help' and 'kindness'.
I suggest watching "Gender-A Wider Lens" on RUclips or listening to their podcast. A lot of great videos about trans and a lot of info. They're neutral about trans. People need to be informed of what's happening. Also, look up WPATH files and the Cass report.

There are a number of RUclips videos by parents, mostly mothers, talking about how schools transitioned their daughters secretly without informing the parents. One mother, a lawyer, lives in the Seattle area, she immediately took her daughter out of that school and put her into a private school that didn’t do that kind of thing. Some others are in Oregon and California. The state of California has passed laws that say that the school doesn’t even have to tell the parents that their female child now has a male name at school. And goes by _he & him_ in class. And if the parents object, there are some cases where the school will try to have the child removed from the home!! I'm a scientist. It's currently impossible to create human organs out of tissues found on the body. I'm female. If I have to have my vagina and vulva removed due to cancer, I could get surgeons to try to create a cosmetic facsimile of those organs/tissues that I've lost but it'll never be a vagina: it'll be a tunnel in my groin made from intestine or colon but it will not be a vagina because the tissues aren't the same, the structure isn't the same. And this is as a female who has the pelvic floor that used to support/contain a vagina. How could any man get a real vagina when this isn't even possible for women who have lost their actual vagina? Vaginaplasty tries to create the appearance of a vulva and vagina with some of an actual vulva and vagina's sexual function, namely a canal or tunnel that one can put something in and hoping the person has some sexual sensation function. But an actual vagina and vulva are more than that: they are part of the female reproductive tract which in healthy women also includes a cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, the ligaments holding it all in place, the clitoris (most of which is internal and can't be seen from the outside). Our reproductive system creates an egg every menstrual cycle, our endometrium builds up and sheds every cycle we're not pregnant, out cervix creates mucus and our vagina creates excretions too as a mechanism of self cleaning. Our vagina expands during sexual arousal, blood goes to our vulva. We can grow a baby in our uterus and during labour, the cervix opens up, the vagina stretches and expands so the baby can be born. We grow a placenta during gestation which is a whole new organ specifically there to facilitate gestation. It's not possible to make these things out of tissues just lying around on our bodies. The male reproductive and urinary systems are unique too with their own functions, functions which can't be replicated by a metoidioplasty or phalloplasty. These surgeries should be ILLEGAL in my view, even on the right sex who sadly lost their genitals due to illness or injury. They are incredibly prone to (severe) complications and it's NEVER life-saving as these are all COSMETIC surgeries.

The last time we were home in Ireland I had a deep and at times heated discussion on this issue with my stepson. He has gone down the rabbit hole a bit on the whole trans rights movement and that these men are actual women if they themselves say so.He works with one who is in a supervisor position to him, so that might be an explanation. I hope some of my arguments such as how homophobic this movement is and how misogynistic got him at least thinking, but I fear not. He took quite some pride in telling me that Dublin might just be the most trans friendly town there is, to which I replied that it might also be the most women unfriendly then, since the former cannot exist without infringing on the rights of the other.

There has been an elevation of mental ill-health (or faked mental ill-health) as some kind of status symbol or marker of specialness - and by health practitioners the over-diagnoses and over-medication of some conditions - anxiety for example. I'm all for de-stigmatizing neurodivergence and mental health struggles but somehow we've gone way too far so that now it's almost an ambition to have a medical diagnosis of some kind.

I'm going to be upset when he gets into the actual medical transition part. I had an argument with one of those cult members and she basically threw her hand up and said, "Why do you care so much about what other people do with their bodies." I replied, "With the lack of medical evidence for long term puberty blockers and the high rate of complication when there is surgical intervention AND what we already know about the permanent affects of steroid use (which is what testosterone is) on female body builders, the real question is why you DON'T care."
I tell a lot of people I am for Trans Rights. I am for Trans Rights so much that I want to see these medical procedures curbed in their widespread acceptance and more research done, because I'm seeing a widespread decrease in the overall quality of life. And I cannot, by all good conscience, want to see that happening to my friends, their children, or my peers. These are people who mean too much to me. They DESERVE a proper diagnosis. They don't need to be sold a cure. AGPs deserve proper diagnosis and therapy to cope with their condition. Women deserve to feel safe in their own single-sexed spaces and to be treated as individuals with their femininity honored and not worn like it's a costume. Men have the right to be men and not feel hated or resented for doing so.
I somewhat agree with a lot of what you have said, but I'm just not sure anymore what 'trans rights' even means? I am 100% behind the right for anybody to present in anyway they wish - whether that be androgynous, or flamboyant, or whatever - and not to be discriminated against because of that. And I am 100% behind people who suffer from gender dysphoria being able to access appropriate health care...but people are not inherently 'trans'. I agree with you. I realized recently there was a time when we bled people to cure their disease. There was at time when we recommended beating wives to cure hysteria. There was a time when we thought lobotomies were the answer to curing insanity. Now we cut people's bodies up to cure gender dysphoria. Access to proven and effective treatment. This means psychotherapy and talk therapy when appropriate and surgical transition... maybe. Proper diagnosis on comorbiditied. Follow up on any surgical intervention.

This trans stuff started ringing alarm bells for me back in 2014. Firstly due to the fact these ‘experts’ who believe we don’t have souls believed we can be born in the wrong body, then as concern for my young sons growing up in such a confusing world.
I became enraged about this, in 2002, when my daughter came home from High School, telling me how one of her friends had been raped by a boy, who identified as a girl, so was allowed to use the girl's restroom. Later, we found out there were three other girls, who'd he also raped, but were too ashamed to admit it.
It started in Hollyweird. Probably by kids who’d been told to dress a certain way or because something happened to them. Will smiths son once dressed like a girl before it all started.
My 21-year-old daughter on the autism spectrum "came out" as non-binary last Christmas. She self-diagnosed after listening to a song. She hates her breasts, and plans to cut them off in 3 years. I'm working with a parent coach to try to get her to desist before it's too late. She said that people in her generation need to define their identity through gender in order to "stand out". She literally said that. I love her and told her I will not affirm her. And I will not stop fighting for her.
Where's her father in this story?

I am enjoying Graham's book Tough Crowd currently. I'm clocking at least 3 LOL moments per chapter and plenty of chuckles. A very talented writer.
I know I have to be skeptical of someone if they nitpick Graham's writing or refuse to take it with good humour- even if they disagree. They just.... don't have a sense of humour. Basically.
When Graham talks about Bill Bailey and his conversation 'why did you get into this Graham' he highlights what I think is experienced by a lot of women by the men in our lives. So many men don't even consider anything harmful to women as a worthy cause for debate. It's not even that women are hated; we're just not even thought about, and thus considered as whole people. How can a man possibly have the train of thought Bill Bailey has without the inability to see women as human. Graham gets that, and like me as a woman, completely flummoxed at such a train of thought. Male centred world is just so used to rolling its eyes at what harms a woman.
It's so much like misogyny in rap music. If men want to write songs about beating up women, graping women, calling women names that had once been as verboten as any racial slur, then so be it. Who cares, "pimping" is funny. Anyone who objects is called racist because most rappers are black. No thought whatsoever to the harm done to women.
Graham is amazing! And you Andrew. Its good to still have faith that some people care & can see and think clearly.
Another excellent conversation. Graham has been so unfairly treated by his peers but has been an inspiration to many, myself included. Listening to a lot of proponents of “woke” culture, including the trans contagion, you would expect that they would be huge fans of individuality. But no, there is nobody else that expects and will only accept complete mental and vocal conformity, no questioning, doubt, or disagreement can be allowed. If you are not going along you must be punished.
It evolved into a negative term for overly progressive group think ideology, which some see as radical. There is very little that is individual or truly liberal about it. Believers push for what they see as positive change, but not for your right to criticise or challenge how they go about it. Millionaire charities mentioned above such as glaad and stonewall hold a fair amount of influence over the general media supporting what many may see as progressive. Companies of any sort can support them to boost their own reputations, as well as public services such as education,health,even law enforcement, who in term may receive sensitivity training, hiring tips and more. This could be seen as a conflict of interest. Unless support dwindles for these charities I doubt much will change.
Yet we slam the Chinese & Russians for not allowing this sick nonsense?!

Graham was right about a lot of things here but the one thing he was bang on the money, is when the Medical scandal breaks possibly in the next 2 -3 years that will be the house of cards that brings this whole lot crashing down.

One of my central grievances with this issue, from a clinical perspective, is that mental health co-morbidities and HUGELY significant statistical figures which show deeply alarming similarities between these "trans kids" are completely shoved behind the curtain in any public debate, report, commentary etc. Nobody wants to discuss the relevance of these statistics and findings. To me, that's the most despicable and terrifying part of this scandalous negligence and wrong thinking. These kids are being handled so badly that I'm sick of expressing my horror; the voices of authority think they're right and I'm not just wrong but a terrible person worth destroying for having a different take on the idea of 'help' and 'kindness'.
The people pushing this agenda also have abnormal psychology. Psychopaths

I suggest watching "Gender-A Wider Lens" on RUclips or listening to their podcast. A lot of great videos about trans and a lot of info. They're neutral about trans. People need to be informed of what's happening. Also, look up WPATH files and the Cass report.

There are a number of RUclips videos by parents, mostly mothers, talking about how schools transitioned their daughters secretly without informing the parents. One mother, a lawyer, lives in the Seattle area, she immediately took her daughter out of that school and put her into a private school that didn’t do that kind of thing. Some others are in Oregon and California. The state of California has passed laws that say that the school doesn’t even have to tell the parents that their female child now has a male name at school. And goes by _he & him_ in class. And if the parents object, there are some cases where the school will try to have the child removed from the home!!
