    Movement acceleration being so slow is my main complaint with the new combat. S4 free movement felt great. S5 free movement feels like fighting in syrup

    OPR with mounts is fking awful. Everyone just rides up and down the map avoiding fights. You can't push objectives because you just get stomped. It's so stupid and boring. There's no punishment for dying, you just virtually teleport back.
    I have no idea what game people are playing that thinks mounts is better, they're just so game mode destroying

    The next week or so of patches will determine a lot imo. The hotfixes have been good, but there's still so many bugs that PvP is legitimately unplayable.

    that acutally makes alot of since, the biggest issue ive been seeing is in dungeons where my rotations just arent working. i run rapier/spear bleed. in M2 runs where i use to be able to pump out enough damage to pull aggro off most tanks, dodge attacks and swap weapons, it just isnt working how it use to, keeps getting me killed to the point i went from 52 con to a full 100 con and thats still not even enough i keep going down. what ive been noticing is the dodge is very unresponsive and the weapon swapping is unresponsive. when you go through your rotation of flurry, flourish, single light attack for the leep forward, tondo, then dodge back and swap to spear. i either get the dodge or the weapon swap, and given the amount of time i have ran this build i hit rotation out of muscle memory. i knew the combat upgrade changed the feel of some things but this actually makes alot of since on to why its feels clunky now.

    Good breakdown. This makes sense now why I have been seeing a large uptick in VG's on all ranged dps builds in OPR and why it feels like I can't trade with them and have to flee constantly. One thing I'd also note is general server performance is down the tubes in OPR and War performance. Intermittent lag outs are back. A lot of ability and ranged projectile's and animations do not visually display. The damage does but can't see a lot of the animations or projectiles so it's very frustrating as you can't react before the damage arrives or you're cc'd.
    It's another 'live-service' half-baked roll out that degrades the quality of the game before it will eventually get better. This stuff should all sit in PTR for a lot longer until the major kinks are ironed out and the combat re-code should have been separated from the meager S5 release.

    it did feel like opr was better yesterday as a bruiser than previous days, but slightly kind of clunky still with melee. Range feels pretty good, maybe to good.

    Alot of janky and bounces stuttering movement hard to actually play mechanically when i leaping strike and rubber band in place or press dodge and it dosent dodge

    the problem with "discovering 'bugs' from feelings" is you have a bunch of newbies that FEEL like "x" is broken or "y" is OP or "z" is not tracking, when its really just a skill issue. there's so many feelings being thrown around that it would be near impossible to distinguish the feelings from actual bugs

      I mean what defines players as a skill issue player and new player, you can have 5k hrs and still be mechanically shit but be a new player and just be gifted I've seen that a lot being a recruiter for companies. This is not a viable point to try to point out there are too many different types of players out there to know. who's the issue

      Lol they had a new bug fix debug and clearly it failed, a month later with a 500M fund, just is not good enough……Bezos and AGS need to do better, far better

    You're talking about unit tests. They should never have completely rewrote a critical part of their code like combat without having a ton of automated tests in the first place. They probably had so much special sauce in the old code that didnt get ported over. IMO everyone is making too big of a deal out of them rewriting it in c++. The skill of the dev matters so much more than the programming language being used.

    I got hit by a burnout for 7k yesterday and a pen backstab+ rogue crit to my back by someone running 350 str, 250 dex only deals 4k and I have wayyyyy less thrust resist than ele resist, so something I weird with damage. Damage went down, but I'm getting chunked by something now since patch.

      It's not weird, it's always been like this. Ranged weapons do significantly more damage than melee

      @@propersod2390 no, firestaff usually hits me for like 300-1k dmg depending on rend. I havent had something hit me for that much even at 60% rend during season 4.

      @@JamyFowl0001 that's literally impossible unless you're playing 500con heavy with full fire res or something 😂 against a normal build 300dmg from fire staff is 2-3 burn dot ticks

      Yea the fs can multi hit on abilities on the same person. Idk how to replicate but seen screenshots.

      @@propersod2390 I am a 500 con heavy with 75% base damage reduction to fire, and 57% abs to fire, with like 180% fortify lol. single scream did 20% my hp.

    as a light melee I like to think i was one of the more slippery people in the game, I was really good at getting in, doing damage, and getting out. That slipperiness is gone. @fosteredlol described it perfectly as "fighting in syrup". Basic attacks are now staggering/slowing me enough that when i am caught, i am caught. I dont know if this is intended or not working correctly. Just putting the information out there so smarter people than know it. I run 4 freedom.

    AGS has set such a horrible precedence when it comes to bugs/exploits, especially when it comes to PvP. I can list so many times where "X" weapon was broken and people abused it. I don't understand why they have not banned or punished people who are purposely abusing these when it comes to pvp. They need to have a better system in place to disable perks/items/weapons and punish those who knowingly do so.

    Combat feels different gotta get used to the new movement. Quick pace is good even if my teams getting steamrolled.

      It's not just different. I have blocks/abilities not going off at all when they should be. If this is the new combat we have to "get used to" I'll be moving on. I've played multiple games that they decide to change the combat, and the game never recovered. Swg and h1z1 are my main ones I can think of. Both games failed after changing the core components of the game. The game feels slow and sluggish now in comparison. I'm hopping its just stuff they have to work out. I'm not gonna be upset if it's a deal breaker. 3k hours is a good run.

    Nobody is talking about the very real possibility that some of these "bugs" were intended from the get-go to showcase their new ability to "debug at a fast pace"

    AGS is a brand, not a company. The people that run NW and the people that handle Lost Ark are not the same. The team of people that created NW is tiny. They were bought in 2014 when they had 75 total employees lol. I'm sure Amazon funded them and continued to hire, but the idea that you're going to get an in-house AI test suite or anything remotely of the sort for a video game is pretty out of this world for such a tiny org. I don't think anyone does this (even massive studios like Riot), and I don't think anyone will for quite some time, perhaps even ever. Integration tests suck and are insanely expensive. You'd sooner have AI writing unit tests than you would a custom neural network that looks for anomalies in preset gameplay loops. I can hardly think of an industry where that would be worth it, even outside of gaming. Not until the tech is better and cheaper at least.
    VG dealing a damage type that does not exist is a colossal development failure in at least 10 different ways, but I'm not trying to write an essay. You either have one developer doing the job of ten, or highly incompetent developers. My bet is the latter. This has been going on for ages, even when the game was extremely profitable for AGS. They tried to shove a new company into shoes that were too big for it to fill and they failed. It is what it is.
    I do think this is evidence that the actual developers and leaders of the NW team are getting more control over their decisions though. Lumberyard was a disaster and has single-handedly ruined NW from its inception. The NW team used to develop games in an engine called Slayer. I can only hope that means they'll do a better job with "Slayer Script", even if it has growing pains. They have to integrate with the POS that is Lumberyard and they spend 0 on QA.

      The part that confuses me about this is why do QA positions on the career site specify that applicants will work on all AGS games? That suggests that resources are shared to some capacity.

      @@mecr0w Honestly not sure what difference it makes. They don't credit "AGS" with the creation of NW. They credit "AG Orange County". The development team is at least small, and at most small and incompetent.
      If the resources are shared, that still makes an argument for the idea that this game is developed with little to no QA by developers that were not ready for a title of this size. They'd allocate the most QA resources to the titles that make the most money. They'd end up working on the things that provide the most business value, even if that means neglecting an NW release that will make hardly any money.
      An interesting thing to look at might be the buggyness of NW releases compared to the amount of changes happening in more profitable AGS titles like LA.

    it's hilarious that by the time they come out with proper matchmaking there won't be many players left to match. the whole thing just makes me sad. over 3k hours in the game, but i'm just tired of waiting for things to get better. the game is a beautiful shell...looks pretty but empty. ggs nw

    Men the first part of this video is way over hyped. We need to realize that most of those "good" points are basic things for any other mmo.
    The reality is that even with extra time, even slowing the frequency of patches and even with a delay, the patch was broken, full of bugs, bow exploits, etc. Movement feels horrible, hatchet tracking is 100% broken and not working for most ppl, life staff had so many issues, 25gb patch and then 9gb patch for every small patch, didnt they fixed that?, broken perks, broken quests, all kind of movement, T posing and other animation issues, etc. and dont forget... no new content besides a 15min trial that we beaten in the first try with randoms and after not playing for 3 months.
    I understand the idea that fixing some issues fast is good, but this is like being happy for upgrading from a 2 to a 3... come on.

      Yea it is but I don’t want to take the side of beating people up while they are down either. The launch patch was a bottom 3 patch of all time imo, but the recovery has gone well (so far).

      @@mecr0w I dont think it is beating ppl when they are down, thats ok when u talk about someone that made 1 mistake, ok, but its been almost 2 years with none stop patch problems. I think it is time to beat this subject up, because they gave us barely any content for 6 month in theory to improve patches quality.

    they need more resourses? are u smoking crack my friend? whole team need to get replaced or close the game for good i loved the game played 1.5k hours but damn games has nothing to do other than wars.. they reworking cooking and random shit insted of focusing on actually making something that player can do not just another random dungeon that can be done with 5 blind ppl.. core gameplay with 2 weapons 6 skills is great but this team really ruined everything dont understand how they still getting money to fund the game

    I couldnt disagree more except for the quick fix thing. This season feels like ass, opr feels worse than ever. War isnt even fun. (okay i did pull the age old sin of commenting after the first minute so a lot of stuff towards the end i agree with but I HATE OPR Rn)
