Dyes that don't go into the hair shaft would be better in terms of toxicity, so any that are more temporary. In the US, there is one called HairPrint that is made from food grade ingredients, but one of my viewers had a bad result with it, so if you try it, please do a patch test. The person who had the bad result was of East Asian descent so that may be a factor in why it didn't work well with her hair too. Henna based dyes should also work too.
