I can't express in words what joy I got after I saw my transition work in OBS. As a small creator that doesn't have the resources to purchase these things or to commission someone to do them, THANK YOU, you are a LEGEND💜
Excellent video for first-time users of Davinci Resolve! I knew what I wanted to do but not how to do it, but with this video as a guide, I managed to create a transition for OBS. Kudos!
this is fire!!!! no one else was showing this and i couldnt figure why my assets i made were taxing my stream and then i saw the stuff you download all had a webm file type and again no one was showing how to do this. thank you a bunch!!!!!
Another amazing video! I love your content! I am happy that I was one of the First subs and hopefully you will never forget me. Congrats to 100 followers! The 1000 will come soon!😃
Super helpful! Its cool that you figured out how to use the nodes in a very efficient way! I'll be to learning from your tips to increase my understanding of the fusion tab
Thanks! One of the craziest things about fusion for me has been how there are so many different ways to accomplish the same end result. Most often I bumble around trying to figure something out and then after the fact I realize I could have made it was faster and easier. But that's super exciting to start piecing it all together.
do this: C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates and drag the file into there. now you can open DR and it will be at the bottom.
Hey man, great video and really well explained however, I would like to suggest what settings you use when creating the file. The Resolution and FPS could make a huge difference on file size, but again this is great stuff and I gave you a well deserved sub :) keep it up!
I have this video bookmarked to my Opera GX Browser. I can't believe I wasn't subbed! Once I saw I wasn't, I subbed right now. Thank you for the education content, Pat. You're awesome. Also, RIP your long hair, dude. It looked cool!
Hey thank you for this. Little something as help for future videos if you go up to your file explorer. You can always type cmd up there and it will open a command prompt already designated in that folder. Happy coding/videoing :)
Here's something to make you laugh. You found me on the pipeline discord a weeks ago and my brain decided today was the day I was going to really dig in, and I was going to do it with this tutorial. Two hours and two cups of coffee later, I have a transition that still isn't quite right, but I learned a TON about Resolve along the way (and cussed at my computer a whole lot.) I've said it before but I'll say it again, thank you!
So happy it's helping. Node's can be pretty tricky when you're first wrapping your head around them. Several more videos in the Fusion Page coming down the pipeline. 👍
Can you do the same thing with an image on the shape. Like say I had a circular logo and I did a square shape. Can I attach the logo to the ‘top’ layer shape??
11:20 talks about using FFmpeg to convert the .mov file to a .webm file. If you want to make a batch file to automate this process for you (In Microsoft Windows), then please keep reading... in the same folder that you have the FFmpeg, make a new text document and rename the extension from .txt to .bat right click the .bat file and select edit then copy and paste the following. If I make the clip any shorter than about 4 seconds, it cuts off early. I got through everything else fine but mine feels SO long. What am I missing? Is my rectangle just too thin? ETA: This is the first video I've found that I didn't want to pull my hair out before I was even to the splicing point, thank you SO MUCH for making it easier for a DR16 noob!
Especially with something like this toming can definitely be a bit of a hassle. the width of the slices will have a big impact on what you can get away with. I've also got a new video about making a transition using a preset that might be helpful bro you as well!
in the preset, the transition takes 3 seconds to complete. Is there a way to speed up the transition so that it only takes 1.5 seconds like yours? im not getting a change speed option in resolve
@@PatrickStirling thank you so much! i fixed it by setting my project setting to 1080p 60fps. i think my default was 30fps and it stretched the fusion clip by 2x. This stinger transition took my stream up to a whole new level so thank you again!
Hey dude, I play League and am trying to do this transition with pictures of the champs I play in each rectangle mask. I'm to the point where I put on the rectangle mask on the background nodes (I attached each champion splash art to the backgrounds) but it's not working as it is in in the video. Am I missing something?
@@PatrickStirling I'm following the steps in the video verbatem, but even tho media out node has the tiny white circle on the right (meaning it should show up in the rightmost previewer screen in davinci), it's just empty. I will 100% have to put the images of the champions I play in League as replacements for the backgrounds (thank you for clarifying that btw), but atm I'm following the steps in the video as a means to learn the techniques here. (Thank you for the educational content, btw!!) I'm unsure if it is some settings that are not configured or what. If it means anything, this is done on a fresh install of DaVinci Resolve 18 Beta.
@@PatrickStirling LATE NIGHT UPDATE: I got it to work and was able to make the transition, but after rendering it with the alpha checked and specs set on the render page, not only am i unable to open it from my computer (only in OBS will it work despite the same file unable to be opened up outside of it), but when I put the transition as an OBS Stinger Video, what should be transparent/alpha is very much still black. While Fusion will show as if alpha is working, the Edit, Color, and Deliver tabs all show the black that is reflected in OBS. The only things on the net I seem to find about it are the Render options (done on every attempted render as well as highlighted in your video) and using Color to apply an alpha channel. Neither one is working. Also, I tried adding an alpha background node behind all my champion pics (which would be the rectangles of various hue outlined in your video), but adding the alpha background didn't work either. I'm about as lost as Dora the Explorer without the map. If you have any insight onto this, please get back with me! I've been looking into this for hours and can't seem to find the fix anywhere. :/
Beginner question here: When I try to trim the fusion effect to 1:30, it doesn't allow me to. The timeline, for some weird reason, starts from 1:00:00:00, and at 1:24, it jumps to 2:00. Why is this happening, and how do I fix this? EDIT: Ok, I fixed the timestamp problem. And I gather the 24 is because the fps is set to 24 (or 23.9). How do I make it so that it looks like your screen? What FPS should I set this to? Does it even matter?
it can be done in 2 minutes in fusion but I was also trying to teach along the way, and went into some extra things like the multiple layers to serve that effort. although this was a relatively early tutorial so I'm sure I'd do things differently now and probably be a lot more succinct!

you could turn the fusion comp into a compound clip and then you should have the normal speed controls👍

Hi there just asking how do u guys get your sound effect for your stinker
how can we use that as a davinci resolve transition?
I can’t get my stinger transition to work in obs it won’t do the point I ask it to any help?
when i try to render this it takes up to 10 hours is this okay or am i doing something wrong?

How can I show a logo in the transition?
I have an issue with keeping it on 60 FPS, and it says im on 24. Tips on how to change that?
Project settings. This will require you to delete the timeline though.
I don't seem to have an "effects library". Any work around for this?
If you're in the edit page you should see the icon in the top left of your screen, by the media pool icon

what should i do when the animation is slow motion. Edit: Should i change the clip speed?
