To make it play easier in OBS you can convert the QuickTime file to a Webm file. There’s codecs for programs. There are also online converters. It should be possible to retain the alpha transparency! Converting to webm will make the file much smaller & will be a breeze to play in OBS.

@@MattHeere Hi Matt. First I must tell you I am strictly an amateur so I don't know if this is the sort of method you want but I simply used www.aconvert.com/video/. There is a check box to save with transparency. Whilst it took a while to convert it the result seemed to be great. However, like I say, I'm no professional user so you may need a 'better' solution. Anyway, I hope this helps a bit. I hope you and yours are well and keeping safe. Cheers. Dave

To sort the filesize out, you may be able to also convert it to .webm, which keeps the transparency, but makes the filesize like 1/8th of it's original.. (random guess on the actual size, but it's smaller)

Dude your tutorials are so fun and make struggling with editing a blast. I'm struggling with trying to move a title from one project to another. In the new project it says my media is offline, but I basically pointed to the same source folder. I think it's the effects I have on the clip that weren't transferred over. Do I need to merge them into a VFX connect clip or whatever? I still want to be able to edit the text in the new project. Been trying to scour youtube for answers... if it's something you've covered before I'd love to know.

I noticed, you used quite a difficult format for a video with green screen. There is a cool way to make a very lightweight video with a transparent background in DaVinci Resolve for OBS and completely forget about green screens for such overlays. The solution is the VP9 format. VP9 uses WebM video container. It was created by Google. It is not very popular in video editing software, but it is very popular in web technologies, because it allows to create super lightweight video files, it supports alpha channel and it uses lossless compression. This format is widely used by Google and RUclips.
Just a few facts to understand. Overlay videos using H.264 format can weigh several megabytes while VP9-encoded overlays can weigh about 100 kilobytes. The difference in size may be 10, 20 or even 50 times. Moreover, VP9 animation, just like the old PNG image format, uses lossless compression. This makes WebM movies portable and reusable in future. Lossless technologies are the future.
To make a VP9 WebM video in DaVinci Resolve you need to export your project as a sequence of images using a format which supports transparency. The best format is TIFF with alpha channel, PNG format with alpha channel can also be used. After you export your animation as a sequence of images, you need to assemble a WebM movie from them. For this purpose you can use the free and open-source FFmpeg tool with a very simple script. More information about converting TIFF images into the WebM can be found in Google's search.
The simpliest command to convert TIFF images into a WebM video would be following:
    ffmpeg -framerate 60 -i frame_%05d.tif -pix_fmt yuva420p -an output.webm

Yikes! You are so good at this… But I’m telling you you could do this in after affects in half the time half the trouble half the layers. And it would be just as good if not better using shapes. Fusion is definitely an interesting animal… But it’s so convoluted. Merge this to merge that and merge this to merge that… You have to go to medical school to figure out how to do all this.

Render in .mov is the worst thing you could do, OBS gets really slow if you make transitions and stuff like the ones you are showing using .mov, the trick here is to render in webm, takes a lot less resources. webm videos look awful in any program except the streaming apps, idk why.

Alpha video files will usually be huge and eat processor resources. You could do the green screen key out, but a clean alpha file is FAR better. What you could do is convert the .MOV file to .WEBM and like magic your alpha video is at a manageable size. Here are 2 places your can convert your .MOV alpha video files to .WEBM:
    Aconvert www.aconvert.com/video (Web Based)
    Shutter Encoder www.shutterencoder.com/en/ (Install/Standalone)
