This album (Empire) and Mindcrime are two of the finest prog metal albums ever. And the fact that they could pull it all off live puts them in a very small, very exclusive circle of legendary bands. One day they will be rediscovered, and finally have their due. For now, those of us who remember them need to tell our younger friends - this is what it used to be like, when rock bands were MUSICAL!
Prime Queensryche were on another level. Operation Mindcrime, Empire & Promised Land are among my favourite albums of all time. Once DeGarmo left it all went downhill for me. I know the band are still performing and I would love to see them but it just ain't the same.
This is one of those inspirational songs from Queensryche that, unfortunately, did not receive the airplay it should have received. It is song that is a great call to action. What is particularly lamentable is that this song was written over 20 years ago, and many of the problems that this song speaks of are still occurring today, and some of these problems have gotten worse. Viewing how little the world has worked to rectify these systemic problems, since "Resistance" was written, illustrates the truism, expressed by Hegel: "We learn from history that we do not learn from history."
Drake Santiago Because this is hard to swallow man. This is badass truth with fuckin sensational lyrics,we are very few in the world.yes Queensryche is that special. Most of people dont want to hear thus actually, people wanna relax with eagles or get crazy with metallica, this is something else this is something deep obscure in some way beautifull but still technicly very strong.this us awsome. be proud of your self man.we are only few.
Amen bro. My favorite Queensryche song because I love the lyrics as much as the music, down to the drum parts that scott plays. Gonna be covering it on my new album
Awesome Performance! this Is their absolute best song on the Amazing Masterpiece Empire album, maybe their best song Ever!!!... wow.. live they sound exactly same as on the Empire album EXCELLENT LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM A MASTERPIECE ALBUM
What a great band. I was only able to see them once with the DeGarmo line-up. I've seen the other iterations of the band several times now and while they are good, none of them come up to the level of the original.
@rokstar48 When DeGarmo left, it took a lot out of them. It's also a matter of relevance. Nobody cares about this sort of music anymore, and it's a shame. Now it's all dance moves and auto tuning. This is back when REAL music was on the radio. This is one of the best sounding CDs I ever purchased, and I still listen to it to this day.
Empire was one of my favorite album in the 90s. Quarantine has found me being nostalgic a lot more than usual. Life was so much easier back in 91/92. Now, I’m middle aged and getting old
Empire was released on this day 8/20/90. It's the 4th full-length studio album by the American heavy metal band Queensrÿche. The album stands, Queensrÿche's most commercially successful release, reaching triple platinum status. The primary single, the power ballad "Silent Lucidity", reached number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Silent Lucidity" was also nominated in 1992 for the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. The album won a 1991 Northwest Area Music Award for Best Metal Recording.
RESISTANCE Against the fucking chorronaviruses !!! With Patience,Tons of Sense of Humor and Love For All !!! STOP THIS MADNESS !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
The original Ryche still crushes everything. The only other band that can compete with the OG Ryche in songwriting is a post-punk experimental rock band called This Heat. The bands wrote the most mind-expanding thought-provoking musical lyrics.
Awesome. They sound like their records even live. God I loved them in the 90s. At that time Tate was in his zenith. Absolutely the best vocalist in rock ever. I have never seen his equal. Incredible phrasing, unbelievable range, and just the quality of his voice is to die for. Too bad he was such a jerk. He had it all.
Great underrated song. Didn't realise there was a video for it :)All we need now is a the video for Right Side of My Mind on RUclips as that's the only one missing
The entire concert is not availiable on DVD. However, you can get the Mindcrime portion on Operation LiveCrime, and many of the rest of the tunes can be found on the GH video Building Empires.
@rokstar48 I am from the 80s and I will give you that one. The hair bands really didn't get it, because they all sounded the same and did the same stuff. Bands like Queensryche and Living Colour really stood out because they weren't doing what everyone else was doing and they were following their own path. I still love them for that. :)
I loved QR. Sadly, their rise was the beginning of the end...The hit at the worst possible time, when Nirvana hit. Not only that, the whole theatrical hair band stuff was going the way of the 80s...Gone forever. QR wasn’t far from hair band, but it was still associated with it because of how overly dramatic they were. Unfair association, but anything even resembling hair metal was obliterated. The 90s wasn’t a good decade for metal groups
I love Geoff, but in this vid he looks like he just got off work at Olive Garden, untucked his shirt, put on some leather tights, and it the stage. That shirt just doesnt scream "rock and roll." It screams, "would you like some more breadsticks?"
It sucks ass that the first progressive metal band that wrote the most thought provoking, mind-expanding music has parted ways. Geoff Tates' vocals crushed everyone and still do. And Chris DeGarmos' guitar work and songwriting stand alone. Metal has a vitality of its own and has taken music to the extreme ; it cannot get any harder, faster, technical, emotional nor progressive. That is why it is the sickest form of music humans can create.
@336kgf the 90s had the best music....so it follows that the 90s had the best A&R people scouting for decent music. Industry people today havent got a clue!
I'm not much on lyrics to songs. But, damn. This song, from the 1990's, EXACTLY EXPLAINS the present day, with that asshole, Donald Trump, in office, fucking everything up for us.
And, those properties came from honest work, unlike the VAST MAJORITY of politicians in Washington. As a matter of fact, he is the least wealthy person in the senate. Why? Because he can't be bought, like all the others. Do your research next time, instead of watching some right-wing bullshit videos spewing..... Bullshit lies, to get their agenda across. Which is, take, take, take from the people of this country. Oh, yeah. One more thing. Good fucking luck with that shitty 37% Trump approval-rating that idiot is packin' around, too.

And Chris DeGarmos' guitar work and songwriting stand alone. Metal has a vitality of its own and has taken music to the extreme ; it cannot get any harder, faster, technical, emotional nor progressive. That is why it is the sickest form of music humans can create.. i.e. Korn( first album: finest work using bagpipes) the first progressive metal band Queensryche, (key boards, piano work, female vocals, and operatic overture). Metalcore band As I Lay Dying (piano work) and God Forbid (electronic violin and piano work). I am sure there are more metal bands I am not aware of that use others musical instruments not mentioned.
Michael Wilton penned this track anyhow, and he's still in the band and Queensryche 2013 and Condition Human show they still are writing thought provoking, progressive mind expanding music....
BEST friggin voice EVER!! and BEST concerts.
One of the best concerts I have ever had the pleasure of attending
hard rock biloxi ms a few years ago!! ;)
I saw them in October with Judas Priest

They did!! Fantastic!
Both albums are great!
Queensryche, Foreigner and especially White Snake are so under rated they’re really awesome 😎 bands but that’s really sad
Agree with it all, except this wasn’t always what it was like. Queensrÿche was not the average, they were exceptional
Rage for Order ranks right up there with Empire and Mindcrime
Miss You Chris!! 🙏🎸🔥💫
This song should of been a hit on the radio.
These guys were on fire in the 90's.
Saw that tour. Incredible!!!
Saw 1st Tour!! 🤘🏻
One of the greatest Queensryche songs ever? I think so.... wish it had made the Greatest hits album.
Eddie G i
they r my fav band therrusic will last the hand of timeppp
Yes sir!!
Prime Queensryche were on another level. Operation Mindcrime, Empire & Promised Land are among my favourite albums of all time. Once DeGarmo left it all went downhill for me. I know the band are still performing and I would love to see them but it just ain't the same.
One of my top 10 fave guitar solos of all time. So melodic and pretty simple. Great example of a perfect solo.
this band rules. those were the days.
One of several great deeper cuts on Empire, along with Hand on Heart, The Thin Line, Is Anybody Listening and Delia Brown.

over 30 years ago............i know..........it's hell getting old...........but i have been a fan since they started way back then
@downforce65 Thank you for the generous compliment
Amen bro. My favorite Queensryche song because I love the lyrics as much as the music, down to the drum parts that scott plays. Gonna be covering it on my new album
2:51 - behold, one of the greatest guitar solos in all of rock. It fits this song perfectly.
He killed it big time!!
Saw this tour in '91 Buffalo front row. Incredible!!!
What a musicians, sadly the human race don't make that kind of music anymore, Awsome♥️♥️♥️
"Listen to the call of the wild!"
Awesome Performance! this Is their absolute best song on the Amazing Masterpiece Empire album, maybe their best song Ever!!!... wow.. live they sound exactly same as on the Empire album
EXCELLENT LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM
A MASTERPIECE ALBUM
What a great band. I was only able to see them once with the DeGarmo line-up. I've seen the other iterations of the band several times now and while they are good, none of them come up to the level of the original.
best song from empire album
greatest concert I ever saw...period. End of list

This song should be on the set list . Very appropriate now.
Would love love love to find this entire concert including all the extra songs as well as Operation Live crime :D

My brother Darrell was Mike Wilton's tech on this tour.
@David P ..wow he must have some awesome stories to tell
OMG Folks! Only 0riginal line up 4Me! Saw them 4-5? Times my brother interviewed Chris backstage 1st Tour 🎸🔥🧡☮️🤟💪✌️
They opened with this when I saw them on the Operation live Crime tour..
This song is so fitting for a world whose people continue to choke themselves to death for the sake of electrical power and easy living...
Anyone else hear operation mindcrime in the chorus?
First time i heard this song i thought it was RUSH

@Metal Fan I know who the band is. I'm 53 y/o and have been a metalhead since a teen.
Thought provoking lyrics of truth in their Music 🎶 🎵

totally agree , what about jee off , I only ever heard that he was um " funny " you know 😙
The boys at the height of their power nailing an underrated gem
Positive!
This band brings me back to 1989! Big part of my life! Will be forever grateful Geoff!! Memories relived instantly
People need to resist NOW more than ever!
("Revolution...")...
Great underrated song. Didn't realise there was a video for it :)All we need now is a the video for Right Side of My Mind on RUclips as that's the only one missing

Awesome awesome band

No shit. On the bottom of my vid is an advertisement for Pitbull. Uh...WHO?????????????????? Never heard of him/her/it.
One of Queensyrche's best tracks and penned no less by Michael Wilton...I don't weep for the loss of DeGarmo with the whip still in the band
Lmao. Chris is light years ahead of mike. You're an idiot
@@garybruce4704 lol you're an ass-clown, this exact song proves they at least on level plains ......and DeGarmo hasn't written a tune in ages
God, I love the sound of those drums :D Unfortunately the big-reverb drum sound would sound totally dated today -_- Someone needs to bring it back! ;P
I immediately thought muse when i saw the title
One of the best ever
Absolutely Stunning !!
This band should have more subs I live in Washington state so umm wtf
You can just hear the Rush influence in this song lol It sounds so much like one.
Love the song, but the Earth is for our benefit, not the other way around.
Eco-rÿche.

Saw Q in San Diego. Empire had JUST come out, and they also played this whole set. FAAAAAAAAAAAAWCK !!
I love Geoff, but in this vid he looks like he just got off work at Olive Garden, untucked his shirt, put on some leather tights, and it the stage. That shirt just doesnt scream "rock and roll." It screams, "would you like some more breadsticks?"
🤣🤣🤣
I mean... I’d sure order breadsticks from Geoff Tate

Constructive Critique that approval rating....did you get that from the ...uh, media?
Mike North Bernie is a hypocrite ball bad, isn't he? There more to come on that commie. Trust me. Maybe he could go visit his Mecca, Venezuela.
Oh poor leftard Murican thinks Trump is the cause of all the shit in the world.

That may be, but without Geoff Tate they just are not the true Queensryche with his vocals and emotional persona.
You are entitled to your opinion, doesn't mean others must agree.
They was right 🤘
Stop The MADNESS !!!!
