One of the hardest songs ever and he still pulls it off 35 years later. That’s fucking insane. He shouldn’t even have a voice after what he’s bolted out over 40 years. Plus he isn’t getting any help with auto tunes. This is raw.
There is no such thing as Queensryche without Geoff Tate, plain and simple. I grew up listening and loving Queensryche and Geoff from the beginning ❤❤❤❤
It's def one of the hardest songs ever and Tate still pulls it off in 2024. When i first heard it I thought 'Fuck Jeez he has simply blown rock singing apart' it was UNREAL.
It's such a very tough song to sing. He Didn't take hold of all the high notes that he has in the past..but this was still a very strong performance. He's very clever in how he navigates this beast. Most singers will never be able to even dream of singing this.
@@2204JCM He's been Flame this way since the late 80s. He and Rob Halford are excellent at finding alternate ways to sing those high notes to save their voices for the "money notes"
I remember trying this at a Karaoke event, and bar none the toughest to try singing. Much respect for Geoff for still bringing his vocal talents after 40 years.
@@sebastianrawk Sounds like that. Backing vocals is definitely on backing tracks. Is it digital drums as well? So they can basically do this show playback if they want to🤔
The high notes definitely sound authentic at least. It would’ve sounded better and stronger if they were and more out of place. But he manages to do them decently I will say.
@@sebastianrawk Nah, you can tell he's doing them, since the projection of his voice is way different than his younger self. He delays the moment of reaching the highest note of a phrase as much as possible to save up voice. He didn't do that during the 80's and 90's.
i saw them play this in 1984! I was 13 years old. I asked him to a ride to the show he said no sorry his car was full, He said, no seriously its filled, let me show you, he showed me his car and it was really packed full. haha I took a bus to the show and was squashed like a sardine there at Mancinis in pittsburgh 1984. When he sang this song the place went nuts.
This guy had the BEST voice in the 80s. I give him credit for still going out there, but he's singing everything at least about a third down. Still, one of the best singers ever on the planet...
No, he cant hit the sceams he easily could back in 1984, but he only compares to Rob Halford, Geoff is such a gifted singer. Priest and queensryche were my 2 favorite bands in the 80's. Geoff only had a few vocal lessons before he hit stardom, one of the few singers that has left such a legacy. I actually listen to "take hold of the flame every day, just because it is so amazing :)
Check out my 14 years of Queensryche live in Houston, 33 songs. He sounds fantastic, one of my fave videos: ruclips.net/video/7Ue53kAOoXI/видео.html Please subscribe!
It will be better, trust me. I hope you are aware that it is going to be the first EP and first album in their entirety. (No Silent Lucidity or Jet City Woman.)
I love the original line up of Queensryche but I’m sorry.. Geoff’s band jives so much better with him on stage than any show I ever saw with him and the other guys. I’ll forever see him any chance I get
I had the misfortune of attending a Queensryche show without Geoff. It was so cringe. They were sampling his vocals throughout the chorus. It's so refreshing to hear actual vocals!
Agreed. Todd is great for singing QR like a metal singer, but he's just not intimate with the lyrics to emote really well. It's a shame the troubles they went thru. QR is still paying monthly payments on a loan to pay Geoff settlement for firing him... so they gotta keep trudging as QR, but are headlining shows still, but yeah what you said. Please subscribe!
Why 5 guitarists ? Or was it just a free for all and I'm done with that as long as it sounds good. Lead singers got their vocals to take care of as the same with the band members. Great song and great musicians 🎉 🤘💀🤘
Sounds like that. Backing vocals is definitely on backing tracks. Is it digital drums as well? So they can basically do this show playback if they want to🤔 And I noticed the drummer counting in for the guitar intro, no need for that if it´s not required for the backing tracks to sync🤨
I can't belive how well Geoff Tate can still hack it. Extremely difficult song to perform for any singer, despite range, skill or age. Biggest cliché ever "he can't hit the high notes anymore/as well. Haha yeah okay.
age and endless touring, also lotsa wine (alcohol is harsh on the vocal cords, unless you are sammy hagar, then it makes you sound better!). check out 14 years of QR I put together for Geoff's awesome old voice: ruclips.net/video/7Ue53kAOoXI/видео.html please subscribe!

Facts!! He def is a legend 👏
after heart surgery..... no shit
He's actually singing octaves below the original.
amazing!

Way way better than previous years ,,,,here comes Tate again !!! Let’s roooockkk!
It feels like he hit some sort of Renaissance over COVID. I wonder if the break was good for him?
Awesome. My god, he's still got it!

40 yrs after the legendary Tokyo performace :)
That's was studio overdubbed..
Take that Vince Neil :)
haha
Who??

Yeah, he definitely avoided those notes. But considering his age it’s still pretty good.
@@2204JCM He's been Flame this way since the late 80s. He and Rob Halford are excellent at finding alternate ways to sing those high notes to save their voices for the "money notes"
I can pull them off no probs as long as i have him singing with the volume maxed out beside me.
geoff left all the super high notes out completely when I saw mind crime ( opened for metalliwacker justice for all)
Just incredible!! 😮🎤🎸🥁
More than 40 years pure talent Mr. TATE👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 incredible
Una de las grandes voces de la historia del ROCK! 🤘😝🍺

Geoff and Queensryche need to reunite.
never gonna happen. to much acrimony and QR is still making monthly payments to pay off the court settlement to Geoff. please subscribe!
Wouldn’t want to see that, both bands are at peace, recent interview with Geoff confirms this.
What Queensryche? Who's left now besides Rockenfield?

Can’t look at current Queensryche but this has class and respect to the older era band. Geoff sounds aged but true to form. I love this.
HE is and always will be the voice of Queensryche, regardless of which imposter/poser attempts to replace him.
Geoff is a legend and it’s sad he ended up going full ahole forcing the band to axe him. The Ryche must carry on without him.

why duz it take 4 guitar players to pull it off?? geoff is as good as ever
Still sounds great n to many guitars trying to get that sound
3 to replace Chris n 1 for Michael 😂
