I’ve put about 100 hours into this game and feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer in the big scheme of things. After Tree of Tranquility and A New Beginning in the Harvest Moon series, I’ve been yearning for another game in that vein. I discovered Rune Factory and Stardew Valley, and both of them offered a lot of what I wanted, but I was disappointed by everything offered after Natsume and XSeed split. My Time at Portia has really satisfied that craving for a “day to day” simulator as you called it. Even with the glitchy graphics (which I know you criticised, but I find them charming and nostalgic), it really fulfills something I’ve been wanting and searching for, for a long time.
The game is severely broken on Switch. The color wheel is a nightmare, lag nearly every time you harvest a resource, long loading times, and complete crashes. I really wanted to like the game, as I love this genre, but it's simply an exercise in frustration, at least on the Switch.
@@coralunasoleil5265, if it's the one that came out after launch, yes. If another one came out in the last day or two, then no. Honestly, I haven't played it again after my experience.
Well which one are they referring to? Did the 2nd update fix your issues? I’d like to play a game like this however am sick of getting burn on broken 3rd party Switch releases.
205 hours in, I LOVE this game on the PC after starting on PS 4 Pro. I am still trying to enjoy Animal Crossing on the switch. It is so hard and slow to get anywhere on AC. I am bored running back and forth after 3 items fill up my inventory. My Time at Portia isn't like that at all. Right away you can expand your storage and actually get somewhere. It sill has some frame rate issues on my PC but it does't matter. If you play on a switch, you are short sheeting yourself big time.
Is it me or does this game feel very quiet? There is no sound effects just the background music. I tried reinstalling on my switch but.. nothing. Its really bugging me, I feel like a ghost wandering around
It’s a watered down port for the switch. Check out the subreddit for this game! I really wish I did before buying it. This title on the switch is not worth it. If you really want to play and have a xb1, or PS4 get it for them, and not the switch.
So how far into this game did you play? I feel like some of the comments you have are slightly off/incomplete and a lot of your clips are from Lv. 1-7 which you can get to pretty quickly in game.
I really like this game. I'm also a animal crossig and stardew valley fan...however the loading screens really annoy the heck out of me. The first commission is also really frustrating! You can't do it right away, you first have to fulfil other tasks like upgrading your tools. I wish the first commissions would be a little easier so you can get to know the game faster on your own without searching online what you have to do next. Beside that, really enjoyable!
:( I already own it on PC but those long load times are a deal breaker for me, I want to play this game in bed. If I have to wait for 4 minutes for it to load I'll fall asleep and smash my Switch to pieces.@@domino7521
@@korkee1111 well for me it was worth it because I can play it anywhere at any time and I don't have it on pc. The loading screen is extremely long when you start the game. You could also keep the game on and put your switch in sleep mode at all times so you dont have to deal with the first loading screen.

I love the genre. I’ve played nearly all the Rune Factory and Harvest Moon games, and countless other crafting/sim RPG games. My Time at Portia is creative and charming but has SO many issues. It’s not polished at all. Too many issues on the Switch port for it to be truly enjoyable.

I was actually super excited to see this game come to the switch as I purchased it for my computer, but didn’t pay attention that my laptop couldn’t handle the game... making it a horrible purchase. I played it within the first couple hours of release and yea, it was difficult to play. I didn’t get to play as much the first day from the first initial ours but playing it today the game is running quite seamlessly, load time is still a little bit slow sometimes, but otherwise alright. My only downside is the lack of crop/harvest but that’s only because I’m a hardcore crop fan. The other disadvantage is how EXPENSIVE things are and how long it takes to get the Gols. Commissions can be difficult to fill, and fairly time consuming.
I’m with you. I hate real chores but don’t mind it in my little virtual world! 😝 This game is sooooooo addictive! Love the art style, I don’t mind the NO voice acting and basic combat features as there are already so much to do in such a short day cycle, each background music soothing to my pair of big ears, characters are engaging and most importantly no need to water those plants! A definite 10 out of 10! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 😃
I really enjoy this game! I've sunk more than 100 hrs into this game and i'm still not done with the campain. If youre looking for a game that you could easily sink hours opon hours into, then this is a must-have!
I am a big fan of my time at Portia, it gives me the same feelings I had when playing harvest moon on ps1 or GameCube. A lot of fun and can be played as long as you want as there’s no definitive end. I think the harvest moon team should take a look at MYAP. After all they did in my option ruin the harvest moon franchise with their latest game. The mobile game was fun but only because it was unique. Hopefully there will be a story of seasons game coming soon (from the decent harvest moon team)

I liked this game at first, but it wears thin. It feels half finished. There are dialogue trees that end in one option despite choices. NPCs walking in place everywhere. Being given 1 chance to do tasks you didn't know where about to happen. Dialogue that is stilted to the point of the uncanny valley. Combat that vacillates between insultingly easy to cheap difficulty. Sound effect bugs. All kinds of little problems that add up to a big one. And they never fixed it. This game is spread too thin. There's a lot to do and none of it feels finished.
