The reaper of tone is named "Old Ruin" 🦇 Thanks for the kind words Josh! ❤️
Joshua needs more mic time. "This makes me feel like I'm on a spaceship alone... in an escape pod, but it got shot off in the wrong direction..." I felt that.
Thank you!
Nick really doesn’t get enough credit for how understated his playing is.
It's the hallmark of a great player to suit the song. His silence speaks VOLUMES
His beats are so memorable you don't actually need to hear them
I think Nick is a really quite outstanding studio drummer. He sounds totally like a finished album drum track every time.
We got ripped off!
We could have had 1 of the guys from the Portsmouth drum centre on drums.
We missed out on ted nugent playing the guitar.
Casey putsch could have done the talking.
His cricket rhythm is amazing.
joshua's hair looks how I want my guitar tone to sound
His hair looks like the Lego mini-figure hair.
@@davidsix8907 the blocks all fit in the mix, man
Silky smooth like Vidal Sasoon?
I’d buy that pedal
@@davidjameschamberlain I realize now they meant Joshua with the quiff.
Josh Scott’s hair looks like a Lego Mini-figure.
This will go down as the greatest RUclips video in the history of ever. I laughed, i cried, i got mad, cried again, and then i reached a Zen state usually on reserved for 80+ year old Eastern Monks with a lifetime of training and self-reflection. This video marks a turning point in my life. There was the before time and the now!
The combination of the Joshes on this episode was honestly so dry I absolutely loved it. This NEEDS to happen again, I don't think I've laughed this hard on an episode yet. Thanks gents, I watched until the juicy ending
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"I'm learning how to doom"..... best quote of 2022 and we just got started... Nothing will top that this year lol.
Josh I love how you advertise other competitors pedals on your show most of the time, a real bonus and incite .... your morning glory is a stunning pedal my friend
I love Josh’s Chicken Queef 🐔🙌 Thanks so much guys! ❤️
🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
I really enjoyed the quiet relaxed pace of this episode.
The big reverbs, the Astral Destiny and Illumne were really cool especially since I’ve been watching so much stuff following the deployment of JAmes Webb Space Telescope.
AAAy but what about the deployment of MY space telescope?
Lets talk about me and MY coolness!
I liked this episode, totally different pace, nice and chilled out… its good to mix up the dynamic now and then.
I was legitimately glad to watch this post stream. Thanks crew for making that happen!
Nick’s contributions to this episode were my favorite parts.
Edit: the most famous quiff is the comic book character Tintin
Tintin!
I really enjoyed this. A chill relaxing walk through a bunch of great pedals. Happy 2022
Josh at the beginning of the show: I kinda wanted to sit here all day.
Josh at the end of the show: remember that two weeks notice I gave you a few years ago? I'm going to cash that in now.
🤣🤣🤣
I'm serious... lol
The cuts to Nick had me rolling. Thanks for being awesome as always! Love the picks.
When that happens, I cut to the drum centre of Portsmouth.
Well, I'm glad I hung in there for the pedal at the end. The two hours of my life that I lost preceding that moment are no long missing. Happy 2022.
I love when you talk in more detail about what's going on internally...and I love that sg
Bought myself a Muffaletta for Christmas and it's absolutely beyond what I expected.
I'm saving up for the Ratbox, but if you were ever to come out with a Sunn Model T emulator sort of like what you did with The Clover, I'd save up for that first.
Doom tones man! I'm getting the Ratbox to put before my Muffaletta and if I can get Model T sounds out of a Fender 212r (Red)...
Josh I've got a JHS attenuator in the effects loop of that bright red back breaking brick of an amp , HEAD MY CALL!
Or do whatever. I love everything you guys have been up to over the last few years!
I love that you spent some time on the HM-2w. I was stoked to find out they were making that, and it's on my list of things I really really want once I can justify buying a pedal that doesn't fit my sound at all.
I just want to say that I recently watched your Jimi and Eric 2 program show about how they happened. Just want to say how much I enjoyed your presentation and how well you put it together to show how actually happened between both of them . Cheers from a 74 year old student of the guitar.
I've never yelled JOSH HOMME!!! QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE!!! so intently at my screen before..
6:50
who else was thinking:
"RUN RUN RUN RUN"
you better run all day and run all night
“Oh this show is too long”
No. Stop that. Shut up. I love these. I love watching people passionate about something talk about it at length!
I love these unstructured live episodes precisely because they’re so long!!!! I wish the weekly episodes were longer! I love you guys!
I agree.
same here
This is MY time to shine!
Its ALL about me from now on!
I'm branching out!
I'm on a roll!
These videos are just about public poses by ugly guys.
We talk the truth over at MY new channel.
This Internet thing is all about making ME feel good about myself.
I shall live ON !
U mad bro
Nick literally phoning it in is just comic brilliance. I so love you guys! 😂🥰
i love seeing you guys getting tormented by yourself. was a good stream!
Still loved the episode! Always happy to get any content from you guys. It wasn't bad at all!
I started watching this AFTER watching the entire Maestro live stream last night. Now I'm finishing the second half. So useful, and, I just became a JHS customer. Carry on!!
The HM-2 was my first pedal ever .Got it in 88' told the guy at Rainbow music I couldn't get a metal sound on my Peavey classic twin. He recommended this .I remember it definitely gave me a distortion sound .It came with a pamphlet that literally gave you a suggested setting for a VAN HALEN sound ! I used this setting the two left knobs at 10 o clock the two right knobs at 2 o clock if I remember right .I also don't remember it sounding that bad . Turned that Peavey in to a high gain voiced amp. When I got really into pedals about five years ago ,I was shocked to discover all the hate on this pedal .But not as shocked as I was when I saw the price for a vintage one ha !
A bandmate has a MIJ one and I can't find a bad sound on it. I don't use it for chainsaw. I find it to be really dynamic with my rig and with my volume knob I can use it by itself.
I have to watch these longer lives 2 days late, I work my ass off to feed my stompbox habit. I totally dig the chill vibe on this one, thanks fellas. Nice to see some of the pedals I've added on the show.
OMG I want that TCE Chorus+ - I have an old version but that update with the 9V power input is awesome…
Great show as always never boring!
My PackRat, which was on order for awhile finally shipped at Xmas, it is one of the best pedals of the year, SolidGold FX is a really good pedal maker, I picked up the EM III and the Lysis MK II, The Hizumitas and the Vezzpa are great new Fuzz pedals, some of my best of year choices.
wow. it really seems like Nic was phoning it in today. almost like he wasn't there at all. usually his rhythm is much snappier.
4:50
“What do I play? I think I play this-“
“The Memory Man.”
“I play the Memory Man.”
“Can I have it when you’re done?”
“No.”
“Ok.”
Having just the two Josh's was actually really great and funny. Theres a lot of dry humor in this one if you're paying attention
I bought an HM-2w specifically because it's a huge shoegaze pedal. And honestly I was surprised how much i love it. Its one of my main dirt pedals now.
It's not for everyone, but i love it. My favorite settings are, left-to-right, noon, max, 11-o-clock, max. switch on custom. smooth and dreamy.
I really wanna get into modding pedals and specifically I want to mess with an HM-2 to make it a little more flexible. I’m gonna call it the “Death Gaze”
The vibe of this video is "playing with pedals until the meteor hits the planet any minute", and that's awesome.
This was excellent. Thanks guys!!
Best show ever. Listened to it while doing work I put off for two weeks. You cured my procrastination.
Who needs those other two, can’t even remember their names anymore.
This is the Joshua Josh show now.
Thankfully I’m not faint of heart, because I love these long-form videos! Respect ✊
Love you peepers over in KC hope everyone had a happy new year. Favorite pedal of 2021 is probably the GFI skylar reverb. Keep it real!
This is not boring Josh, I love it just for you fantastic Conan shirt, oh and pedal info of course.
The Astral Destiny reverb is really cool and has some close sounds that the Harmonix Synth 9 pedal I own have. Very cool to have a reverb/synth combo. I might have to buy one!
It is amazing how Josh bangs a couple of chords out on the Ten Years pedal and suddenly I am 17 years old again. At that time the Decade sounded like a really shitty practice amp in a world of overproduced hair bands; now it sounds like nostalgia and makes me want a solid state Peavey again.
Loved this episode, just wish it could have been longer!
Thats what she said
Cause You're trying to avoid responsibility.
Against all odds, this was somehow one of my favorite episodes ever
This is informative beyond just the usual fluff you hear. Yes I miss the drums but people sometime can't show( That and the fact people actually take time off, occasionally).
I'm going on 58 years playing. I have focused strictly on Tone for the past 4-5 years. I adore straight talk. There are a few of us left who care.
I forgot, but I hope everyone's Holidays were better than the Covid story, ew...Feel better dude, I hope! Been watching for a year. I need this video program. It's shown me a ton about what is needed and preferred. I haven gotten a poor choice of a pedal, since, Thank you!
Thanks so much. Feeling much better :)
“Win some, you lose some, I guess….This is a great pedal.”
Y’all rock.
I like the HM mod! And I really enjoyed Nick's contribution to the show!
I am really hoping that a “best of 2022 compressor pedals” is going to include a JHS compressor that has an auto-attack, auto-release, auto-makeup gain, a 4:1 ratio, and just two knobs: one for the threshold, one for the mix, and an led meter for gain reduction
;)
Happy New Year JHS !!!
I bought the memory toy 5 years ago ..love it..my favorite pedal of all time is the Way Huge Atreides....crazy fun
It’s obviously impossible to have enough pedals. It’s an unreachable summit.
I don’t have a pedal because I need it. I need a pedal because I don’t have it.
Always enjoy watching Josh review pedals!
Good to see Joshua back, you have been missed.
Thank you 😊
I thought the "What is a blues breaker" video was your best so far... But the ending to this one... It's just taken the awesomness of your videos to new heights...
this chapter is not boring, it is depressing.. well done!
I missed the live but thanks for the help on the emails Joshua👏
You're welcome!
i wasnt here for the live episode but i did sit here for 2 hours...3 mins...20 seconds to watch the entire video ! im here for the Joshes ....and invisible guitar player....lol !!!!!!
Episodes.... needed this one. Thanks for returning. Is Nick really actually mad? Sam Hatman... possibly your oldest youtube subscriber with his own youtube channel. Stay strong, it promises to be an amazing and also powerfully taxing year. Hang in there guys! Samuel Hatman
I missed the beginning of the show. The Heather Brown Electronical pedal you showed was The Blessed Mother Fuzz Assumption. Same layout as the Blessed Mother but the original Blessed Mother is a OD pedal that goes from clean to near fuzz, and the Fuzz Assumption goes the rest of the way into a dark fuzz.
Thanks for the clarification!
all in all, it was a pretty relaxing episode.
it is 2 degrees above zero out......... it is 36 degrees in my bedroom, i am avoiding the outside world here under the covers, it is Sunday morning, and i am enjoying this show. i'll play some guitar later. thank you.
So many great pedals! But the Ultra Wave may be my fave. And I loved this episode despite our absent friends.
Joshua you’re amazing. Don’t ever change.
Thank you. I won't.
Sending you guys positive vibes.
I just got my Carbon Pedal and this thing is outstanding, a very clean yet dynamic overdrive , stacking with a TS 9 it is sonic bliss
I got mine yesterday and was a little underwhelmed. I stacked it with my Golden Boy and they sounded really nice. Experimenting on stop to find a spot for it on my board.
" we call tomato a vegetable because Humanity is broken" Josh 2022
Loved the episode. The more you lost it the funnier it got. Thanks for all the content.
Like your channel, been experimenting with my Taylor mini acoustic and pedals, from vibrato to wah, fuzz & Mel 9 with loopers and trust me when I say I'm not by any means a good guitar player but I find the sounds so interesting. My question/thought for you would be how extreme could you be with an acoustic & pedals. If you've done this type of video then point me in the direction, if not it could be a good idea for a video? Cheers
My kid had a bully named skylar. My kid shoved skylar down in the playground and made him cry. He never bothered him again. Weird cowinkydink. Love the show. Love your pedals. Keep killin it.
Good show. Great t-shirt! All hail CROM!
Nick's best drumming. Ever.
I have my Chorus TC since 1994 still in my pedalboard
8:42 T-shirt worthy quote: "We call tomatoes a vegetable because humanity is broken."
EHX pedals seemed like big, empty sheet metal boxes to me. I remember opening up my Russian Muff and there was a tiny little curcuit board inside!
Josh,i really love bender fuzz and morning glory, fantastico pedals!
Thanks!
This episode is exactly what happens when Addison is not around. 😄
Enjoying the packrat with a bad bob in front while watching. Love the rat!
I really, REALLY want that fart pedal!!!
BECAUSE, no matter how much money I spend on new gear, my band members never hear that I have something new. Never a compliment about my wonderful sound. They just don't hear it. But I'm sure with this pedal I am going to be heard. And they'll look at me, but I won't say a thing. I will only stare at the bass player in disgust. I will use this for months and just every now and then I will step on that fart pedal and look angry at the bass player and maybe step away from him a bit.
💩💨💨
i've been playing out of a strymon iridum with 10" speakers on the fender setting rather than a real princeton and it's pretty good. i would say even the mustang gt/gtx series does an impressive (not as nice as the iridium, but still impressive) job at a princeton sound.
Matthew's Effects - The Broker is my favorite pedal of the year.
Hi Josh! Love what you do and your presence on RUclips is a mainstay in my book. I do enjoy a good Vibe pedal sound like anyone. Unfortunately I’ve never owned one YET. But now I’m torn between all these new Uni-vibe-like pedals, would you still say the Gypsy vibe is the best? Or not so much with the addition of J. Rockett’s Uni-verb and Cornerstone’s Aquarium? Thanks 🙏🏼
The Ratsbane sounds MegaDelicious…that’s a really BIG SOUND right there!!!!
Time to show LPD some love - amazing pedals made in Mesa, AZ!
Heck yeah!
cool video, you should also cover new pedals from 2022
A "Skylar" pedal... to go with the "Heisenberg" pedal... Breaking Bad officially wins the award for most pedals named after characters in a series or movie category! :)
Love the oracle, will there be a "who is mythos pedals?"
I got my Packrat a couple of weeks ago and I’m a big fan.
Josh, just so you know - I am still learning guitar at 55+, and I don't own a single pedal (see fact #1), but I will still watch this entire show.
though probably not in one sitting. I'm old. I'll probably have to go pee or something.
Welcome!
well I made it through. I was busy over the weekend, but today was back to work, so I had some time . . . .
glad I made it to the end. my life is forever changed.🤣
Best show yet!!!
I still want to get the Benson temp controlled germanium fuzz. I was torn between that and the Spaceman Sputnik III until i got a Reverb offer on the Sputnik III and took the offer. I absolutely LOVE that pedal and it was my introduction to Spaceman Effects and germanium fuzz and now i have the germanium fuzz bug. My only experience with fuzz before was a big muff pi, and man was i missing out. I still really want to hear that Benson pedal, but kinda hard to justify having 2 germanium fuzz pedals on my board since the Sputnik III has a permanent spot on my board now.
RUclips keeps tossing this into my rabbit hole chain and I just keep watching this video like a 20 minutes at a time. I’ll get through the whole thing eventually. You guys joking about live users but I’m just getting RUclips algorithmed in somehow.
That rats bane is nasty. Dig it
I like watching pedal demos because i can only dream of owning all these fabulous devices. Learning about effects and history is very interesting to me
Man, just get a decent old multi FX unit like the Boss GT3. It'll cost about a quarter of ONE of these pedals and sound about the same and give you loads of distortion options.
Well Josh for somebody who plays only four chords you're playing is pretty interesting. I enjoy it
“We call tomatoes vegetable…because humanity is broken.”
Indeed kind sir. Indeed
Probably my favorite episode
@42:40 as a huge doom metal guy, I love that non-doom and even non-metal guys know of, and use the term :) makes me smile
Love the stack on 100's. Perfect.
