i canceled my tv service ,we just watch the jhs show here. no news ..no weather..no bob sponge ..just jhs.
Jhs n spunch bob
I literally just watch this most of the time.
This might be the most incredible comment in the history of the Internet.... And fellas I've seen this whole elephants creep into the room. In the beginning there were flaming comments
Bon sponge 😅
@@shaynejoseph1527 you watch Sponge Bob most of the time ?

Cool episode guys!
Josh for president
That’s a great quote . Simple ingredients. But I don’t think I’ve heard anyone else say it 🤔!?
“Not in the real world, but on a forum you would.” Truer words have never been spoken.
I paid an extra $10 for a gold Korg tuner over a black. Worth it. Sounds way better
I think the gold metal flake in the paint picks up the RF that harmonically enhances the signal, but only while tuning.
Definitely.
I SAVED a few bucks by purchasing a limited edition version of the Keeley Compressor Plus. I should’ve SPENT the few dollars more and gotten the original version. Every time I’d look down and NOT see the classic version it would annoy me so much I ended up selling it. Most guitar players are neurotic about their choice of gear and I’m no exception. Sold it to a bassist and he thinks it sounds better than the original version he currently owns! 😎🎸😂😂😂
Amen brother
Live pedalboard builds in this conversational style are the top tier content guys. Please do more of this type of thing.
Plus one
+1
Imagine getting actual artists building new pedal board.
Agreed I loved this
the shade of it all 😅
"Putting your hopes and dreams on the alter of our abilities." That is classic. It is a T shirt.
Did you alter “Altar”?
Did one of your hopes and dreams involve correct spelling??
The JHS show is kinda life changing, planning on going back to school to learn about circuits and DSP for musical reasons
just a heads up every audio engineer will tell you to go into something else
@@nation5478 you're right, that's why I want to be able to maintain audio gear every musician needs a repair person
totally, it’s just 100% a labor of love. but it’s an awesome one
Cool good luck man!
Here's an idea for a recurring episode - a watcher (me) sends in a picture of their (my) pedalboard and pedals and you then do an episode about what's cool and not cool about the board, suggested improvements, and general verbose commentary about the pedals. The user you select (me) could then be sent a free JHS pedal of your choice for their troubles. What do you say - pretty neat eh? Yeah, I thought so. I'm ready when you are.
Check out rate or roast my rig
@@donjuniper Ya But that guy sucks. He doesn't explain his choice yet rates some of the same stuff good or bad depending on what else is in the picture. Not consistent so we don't learn anything. Not that I watch to learn always but .... big missed opportunity to make your show even better. Josh always has some kind of education in his vids even if you have to understand where he's coming from. The other guy just goofs on everybody. Got boring to me after 10 or so vids.
unpopular take but,
our pedalboards just with some parts just swapped out with jhs pedals so we can see how our board would sound with their gear.
inb4 they make this and the morning glory winds up on every board submitted.
@@MediHusky i like that idea a lot.
I'm pretty sure they already do that with the new Patreon member tiers
Nick coming clean with his pedal/gaffer tape fiasco is nothing short of charming. Don't ever change Nick.
Nick deserved the attention he received in this video. Watched, and loved, every single minute of it! I ended up playing around some with some pedal signal chain stuff (moving gain pedals around) while you guys were doing it, so it felt like we were working on pedal boards together! Woo! Thanks for all the great content, gents.
Aaaaw! Quality time with the guys, I love it. You had me half-thinking about rewatching it to do the same thing. Sincerely though, it does feel like just hanging out. I feel ya.
I'm 4 mths late but I pulled my board out and started messing around with it also. Then I read this comment.
@@sparkyguitar0058 heck yeah - that’s great!
When they say: ‘A box of any string’, my mind was imagining a case of B’s.
That would be super useful
Brains am I right
YES
I make all my strings b. Easier to memorize
"Are people enjoying this?" Well, I'm 45 minutes in and loving it.
It feels like we're just hanging out while you guys sort out the important pedal shit and what could be better?
Seeing how happy Nick was using this board during the jam made me smile.
I think this might be the first time in the history of the show where we actually see a pedalboard being build! Eloquently and adequately that is 😄
Would love to see a “where is he now?” video with this board. Also more videos like this.
It had only been like 3 months when you posted this. A "where is it now" would be good now for sure. But after 3 months? Nah.
I think now would be a good time for a “where is he now”
Felt like I just spent a very relaxing 2 hours with my friends. At least I imagine this is how it would feel to have friends....
I loved this.
So cool seeing it all unedited, like being in the room.
Thanks gents.
I find myself coming back and watching this again more than any other live. Petition to build boards for more folks on live!
I seriously spend more time watching/listening to this channel (or Fluff) than almost anything else. It speaks to the music and tech nerd in me.
I love the shout out to the JHS 3-series compressor, that's my favourite compressor and I can't live without it now.
The blue hippo sounded amazing right off the bat. Made me put chorus back in my lineup.
This is a fantastic episode !! I love it. Suggestion: Have your followers send in photos of their boards, you have thousands of pedals, you recreate their pedal setup and critique/improve it. I'd love someone to do that for me!
I too love the JHS 3 Series Compressor with the bright switch on. Brilliance in a box!
If you’re never going to turn the morning glory off switch where that and the emperor are on the board so you can easily access it to turn it on/off and use the tap if you change your mind and want to 🤷♀️✨
This was fun and chaotic, 10/10, did enjoy.
“It flees like this tuner is not committing “ will be all over guitar forums from now on
I want to keep adding comments. This video is like the best Christmas I could imagine. Nick is amazing, and I love seeing you guys guide him through. Trust is magic.
I’m going to watch every moment of every JHS video. I don’t know how long it will take, but I will do it.
This guy, Nick, is a great and stand-up guy. He's such a noble soul. He's also a very good drummer.
A year later and I’m still enjoying this.
JHS definitely deserves a Streamy award for this episode! Love it!
Next "Building a Pedalboard Against Your Will"
The JHS show has become one of my all time favorite channels. This was an enjoyable thing to watch. Loved everything about it.
My pedal board remained unchanged for about 10 years, then I started watching this show. Now I have three boards that are constantly changing.
I knew it! I shouldn't watch this cause I been sitting here messing with my board. Now keep that G A S under control. I DON'T NEED ANYTHING. Just keep telling myself that. But look at that cool looking thing. I don't even know what it is. Uh oh G A S.
@@sparkyguitar0058 yesterday I was really content with my board. Today I’ve just ordered another JHS Pedal, GAS gets you quickly
Got to say I love this.
And on tuners ... use the one you, and everyone in your band, likes to use, then get enough for everyone.
S Mclean I never understand all the hype over tuners. I got a Kliq cause I got the headstock Kliq and haven't had any problems. But I bought the pedal cause it's $20. I wouldn't pay any more than that. As long as it tunes and shuts down my board for a minute while I switch pedals on and off, what else is there for it to do. If I could get a different color for $20, I might switch. I hate all black but I like best sounds so always looking for best pedal for my money.
@@sparkyguitar0058 The idea for using the same tuner is that they are all a little different. I like the one I use because I feel like it's quicker for me and I like the feedback. I also like the alternate tunings on it and it works well on my bass too. That said I don't really get the big money ones.
@@Scoots1994 Oh Ya I have always felt we as a band should tune to the same tuner. Problem is the keyboard and drummer complain "Its too much work to tune to THAT. L O L.
I’m in love that fuzz
I had that Ernie Ball shirt 40 years ago when I worked at Carlsbro Sound Centre!
2 hours?? I'm trying to decide, this or Braveheart...
You'd barely get passed tape 1 in 2 hours so I hope you chose this 😂
I love this! I keep missing these live sesh' and I earnestly love watching them after anyways. As a person who put together a pretty discordant pedal board I greatly appreciate and understand this.
Josh, a super nice guy. He bought that delay for Nick. I'm not sure if Nick had to pay it back. Man, I love this show more and more.
i actually found this process very interesting... its different when you have a gigantic amount of pedals to choose from. thanks for sharing!
I could watch 2 more hours of this, easy. 🙌🔊🙌🔊🙌
More pedalboard builds, please! I love seeing them come together, in every aspect of the process
I love landing on your shows. Your commenters are all so right. It's like hanging out in a room of good friends. I am going to pick up the three JHS Pedal set after the first. Something that I'm looking forward to big time. Merry Christmas fellas to you and your families...
Ye have the best sense of humor of any guitar channel. The intro music and copy are just gold. “Hush your babies” love it.
I'm gonna need a gigadelay episode now, I know it's been in episodes before but if it's the greatest delay ever made it needs its own episode defending that position
I'm gonna buy one soon so he'd better not. I fear his price inflating powers.
Please do it, I just bought one and would love to see the price go up lol
Yeah I just ordered one now. I now encourage Josh to make this episode.
I also bought one because of his statement 😅 and he didn't lie. Played a tc nova delay for years, but the possibilities on the DD-20 are really huge. The only drawback: Only 4 storage spaces (the tc nova got 9).
but apart from that... Thanks josh 😄
Yes
Josh: "This has been fun"
Addison: Manically scrambling to patch everything with only minutes left
JHS Van loaded with Pedals, P. boards, cables, power supplies etc - "Dial a Pedalboard" !
Turn up at peoples homes and sort out a nice PB for them.
Appreciate all your cool advice delivered with good sense of humour. All best, from Scotland.
This is so very heartwarming... I’m exactly as obsessive as each of the three of you. So great! Need more of this hot mess.
I've had a board, a floor full of pedals, and a bin of cables sitting in my house for 2 months. Turns out this video was the motivation and amount of time I needed to finally wire it all up. Thanks! Most productive 2 wasted hours ever.
4 mths later how'd it work out? I built my board 2 yrs ago and just started changing things now.
@@sparkyguitar0058 I've ended up moving everything around multiple times and experimenting with different orders, but I'm really happy with the board that started when I watched this video.
@@disprefer Awesome. You can be happy with what you got. I'm trying 2 new pedals right now to see if they're worth it on the board. For under $30, they worth the money in the collection. 1st is Donner Echo square. A delay pedal. Cool thing is you can combine the 2 next to each other for completely different sounds. Next is a Coolmusic modulation pedal. Cool light-up effect on the pedal but I gotta find good enough sounds to keep it. Has 11 different effects but some aren't worth it.
Baby coconuts juice is pink. As the coconut grows, it goes clear. Eating FRESH coconut is so good and so different than the dried shredded stuff I grew up with.
I wanna see an update on Nick's board. How it's been working out, whether he likes it, etc!
maybe not for this week, but is there a way for your vocal audio to be louder on the livestreams? it comes out like half volume of the prerecorded episodes, it's difficult to hear out of laptop speakers on max volume. thx XOXO
i dont really have this problem through my macbook speakers.
Fine for me on my pos phone
Yes audio output level is low.
I have always thought that with Nick's mic when he uses the gold one behind the drums. He is always way quiet compared to everyone else
I have this issue on my laptop as well, can barely hear this episode.
I've rewatched this several times now 😂
Pedalboard PTSD is REAL 💯😂
I'm happy for Nick that he had the courage and humility to ask for the help he needed 😂
This is the most entertaining back and forth I've seen in some time, and have now decided, I'm hanging in til the end.
Watched it over a few days... enjoyed it, thanks!
All I can think about when Nick pulls out the case with pedals stacked everywhere is-- "Mint Condition" posted later on Reverb :D :D
This was one of my favorite live ep ever cause it’s just guys talking about pedals
Loved this show, guys...felt like i was there. actually helped me out quite a bit..and coconut water turns pink due to a reaction to light...
Thanks for this energetic video on the new pedalboard. JHS is definitely helping me cope with a strange year
Hi guys, your live mics are always really low level. Normally this is against the instruments, so ok, but today when you cut over to the b-roll of Nick's channel it blasted me with volume. The live mics need to be level matched to the other audio inputs levels pls? it was a jarring transition. thank you 🙏
Pretty cool, I’m looking to get one of those mono boards. The side board idea is a great idea too. I’m gonna steal that one! Awesome guys, good fun!
There’s a company that does modular pedal boards and you can get different sizes to add n shit it’s cool
It’s called Morgan boards or something
Love the little dog in the background - they've got a cone on too! Poor doggo, hope they're ok now.
I’ve never commented on a RUclips video before, but by far the BEST part of the whole video was around 71 minutes in. “It’s a recipe for success.” I laughed out loud. I’m 40 years old and I can’t believe I watch all of your video start to finish. You guys are doing a great joerb.
I'm building my first pedal board from scratch with wood on this day that I watched this episode. I feel the excitement! That is a dream board.
"What do you want? " "Uh, how about that Klon #1?"
DD-20 is the shiznit!!! That has been the anchor on my board forEVER. Love it. Run it in front of the amp but last on the board, and with the TU-2 set up as a mute, the tone and delay decay brilliantly. I also think running a chorus stack creates a symphony of sexy feedback so harmonically intense you'd be a fool not to add it to the board.
Eagerly awaiting the next sequel: building Addison's pedal board 😉. Something similar in your pipeline? Would be spectacular 😀. New favorite Sitcom!
Julian Baker runs a dual amp setup where she has a low octave that comes out of one amp like that. It actually sounds incredible, & creates a very ethereal sound that’s completely encompassing. Anyhow, I would love to just jam with you guys. There’s no one in my area that plays any alternative music with any originality. Those sorts of musicians are hard to come by here. It’s all mostly country bands, and bar cover bands that play 60’s-80’s classic rock. So you guys don’t know how lucky you are to have 3 people who have similar music interests. Take care guys. Love record time & all the incredible albums you showcase.
One of the best episodes ever
This video rules. Curious - what kind of adhesive are you guys using to attach? I didn't catch that if you mentioned somewhere. Thanks!
Beyond inspirational. I’ve watched this whole thing, all the way through, 3 times.
It's possible that I've been enjoying this video more than any JHS video I've seen, and I REALLY like a bunch of the other videos.
Love the long form casual format, especially during Covid. Thanks!
I’m SOOO HAPPY that I’m not the only one who tapes the back of an enclosure on to a pedal I built/modded!lol
That was a solid “Solitude is Bliss” riff.
Thanks 😊
I actually came down here to comment that you were playing it wrong. Not sure what the real ascending chords in the riff are called but it's really fun to play if you play it right
@@cashfreeman6148 omg! Chill Mozart!
@@GratefulNachos I will not chill until he apologizes and issues a retraction.
@@cashfreeman6148 he has to play it wrong most likely, to avoid DMCA
I watched the whole thing. Learning so much!!!
I cannot like this video enough. I love the journey
I know this is no longer live, but the question “are people enjoying this?” was just asked, and I have to say I most certainly am.
I’m in the middle of building my first real pedalboard after 16 years of playing guitar. All-in-one units suited me better at the time since I often had to sing and play simultaneously (against my will), so tap dancing on multiple pedals freaked me out.
HOWEVER, I can honestly say this channel single-handedly fueled my newfound obsession with pedals of all shapes and sizes. Now that I’m strictly recording in my home studio, the possibilities and combinations are endless. I can’t wait to apply the information in this video to my own pedal trauma.
PS: The first (technical) pedal I ever bought in 2006 was a Johnson J-Station (pun intended?) and I once again own one. Question is, how come I don’t see this classic example of modeling technology on that wall behind you Josh?
To the person asking about a pedal that instantly reverses the sound of the guitar: check out the EHX Attack Decay.
Obviously it's impossible to reverse the sound you are playing at the same time, but this pedal simulates the sound.
Love the free form video. Definitely prompted me to do my board rebuild and tidy the cabling. Been putting it off for months. Thanks for the motivation and kick up the backside. Although my missus will probably not thank you for the shopping I did too!
Some of the most enjoyable content I’ve seen. I really enjoyed this.
Josh is “weird dad” on the episodes and “too cool” guy on the livestream.
Damn that is so true and so funny lol
You guys do great! I rearranged my pedalboard. You give me a lot of inspiration and input. I regret commenting on one of the last videos “a little more practicing wouldn’t hurt” this was disrespectful. I definitely would go to the venue if you’re on tour... on Sunday: jhs on RUclips - this is my church.
Fun show, guys. I've had a TU-2 since forever. Love that damn pedal.
I really enjoy these laid back streams, just a few guys talking guitar and trying somethings for a friend.
I absolutely love this, more of these informal build alongs please
You guys are great because I learn so much and you guys seem to work great together and have a lot of fun.
I legit lost it at "TRASH!" "Work of art." Thank you for the lol
I like listening to you guys. It's just fun and relaxed.
The most cook thing about your shows - you’re so funny ! Most of the time
Pedal Board Therapist is a show I would watch .
I tried and tried reviewing the spot when you mentioned the maker of the power supply but with everyone talking in the room I could not understand it. Could you write it in here please? Also I am currently building a board about the same size (Gruv Gear’s modular board and I have the Trio) and have 2 power supplies and I don’t know if I should stack them on top of each other and build longer cables or should I place one near the right and left side of the Trio and build shorter DC Cables? Any help would be amazing Please.
Following because I'm curious about the power supply too
I even scanned the notes to last week's videos for the name of the power supplies, lol
@@christopherclarke5254 I found it, it was on the best pedals of 2020 livestream, but the power supply is called Anasounds K+ power source
Thanks Tyrone!
I am enjoying this immensely as I think and overthink how to set up my pedal board.
Man, it took 3 days to watch this episode ! And I couldn’t let it go ; I had to watch what was gonna come next !!! 😅
You guys are insane genius !
Love you !
That is a BIG pedal board!
Two Questions:
How much does that beast weigh?
How does he move it from place to place (home/studio/gig)? Does it have some sort of huge case (like a body bag)?
I have only heard of 20% of the bands these guys talk about but I like that.
New musics :)
This show was great, it helped me tremendously, and entertaining!
Love all your o.g pedals. Thanks for sharing guys
I could and would fit like twice as many pedals on that board lol. I am proud of how many pedals I can fit on my board and still be usable. Also the power supplies not being underneath is kind of painful - not to bag on these guys at all. Nothing wrong with how they set it up, it's nice and clean. It's surprisingly entertaining to just watch them try out pedals and build a board. It would be a really cool series to just have a guest or something and just build a board without any pre planning
Also appreciate the dd20 love. And I do agree it is the greatest delay pedal ever made. It's so versatile and powerful, but also extremely easy to use
Nice shirt Nick. Dig it
