Yes! They're called anthocyanins and they're also present in a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially the purple ones. You can actually use red cabbage juice as a pH indicator because of the anthocyanins. They're also pretty healthy. ^_^ I still wouldn't recommend eating (or drinking) soap, though. Perhaps just stick with blueberries.
That's also the thing about making soap. You don't really have to clean the equipment afterwards, everything is already soapy, you just have to rinse it :P

The forget-me-nots might have also reacted to the alkaline nature of the soap, not only the heat. There's so many plants and vegetables that do that, like hydrangeas or red cabbage :) And the reason that tea looks like part dried flowers and part coffee might well be because there's aromas in it, I know that that's often granulated and added to stuff like fruit tea (at least here in Germany) :)
One of the labs for my organic chemistry class was making soap but we synthesized it from lye and oil. It was pretty cool and it isn't as hard or dangerous as it sounds with ingredients like acids and bases.
If you ever do venture into Cold process soaping... I think you would love it. It's addictive! I got a kick out of watching you two play with colors, scents and textures. It reminded me of when I made my first few batches of cold process soap. With soaping, the sky is the limit. It's artistry meets science. I always say that it's baking without the calories, since I love to bake as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience! The melt and pour soap is soap that is already saponified, and that is why your olive oil did not absorb into the liquid of your "pizza" soap. People use melt and pour to skip that saponification process, [the danger of mixing lye and liquid], so they can just add color, scent, and mix-ins and get instant gratification. Cold process soap takes a minimum of 4 weeks to cure after you make it, but it is SO worth the wait! If you ever want to try cold process, and have any questions, please feel free. You need to be very safe if you attempt it, and you want to start with a simple recipe first, [no fancy colors, swirls, additives]. So I found your channel a couple of days ago and I’ve been watching random videos, I’m loving them all! Don’t think you’ll ever see this comment BUT, the moisture drops you guys showed at the end are (from what I’ve heard from my aunt who makes melt-and-pour soaps) basically the soap “drying” up, getting rid of all the moisture in them, to prevent this sweat you have to individually wrap each soap with something like plastic saran wrap, making sure the wrap is in contact and covers all the surfaces of the soap 🤷🏼♀️
Most people put botanicals on top because they wash away quickly and won't be likely to mold that way, and can also be easily removed if you don't want soggy flowers on your hands.
Oregano, basil, rosemary are the three most common pizza seasoning ingredients, plus some mix of fennel seed, ground pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, and I've seen small amounts of brown sugar or sea salt in some recipes/premade blends as well

So I found your channel a couple of days ago and I’ve been watching random videos, I’m loving them all!
Don’t think you’ll ever see this comment BUT, the moisture drops you guys showed at the end are (from what I’ve heard from my aunt who makes melt-and-pour soaps) basically the soap “drying” up, getting rid of all the moisture in them, to prevent this sweat you have to individually wrap each soap with something like plastic saran wrap, making sure the wrap is in contact and covers all the surfaces of the soap 🤷🏼♀️

Most people put botanicals on top because they wash away quickly and won't be likely to mold that way, and can also be easily removed if you don't want soggy flowers on your hands.

Well, maybe they did. Most people put their failed attempts behind the camera! You can imagine how many videos they couldn’t post because something went wrong. It’s amazing how they keep up their schedule anyways! But of course, nobody is perfect!
