  • @JCIIIBULLET
    @JCIIIBULLET Месяц назад +2

    Just a suggestion, But a more accurate comparison would be acceleration versus wattage voltage ect
    The price of a scooter has nothing to do with performance and should not be part of a performance review
    Anyways, regardless, still another cool video, friends ✌️
    Edit *
    I have a Segway GT2 Megatron# 324
    still running stock 52v battery and performance numbers are different compared to your testing
    Our SGT2 easily hits 48 MPH on level ground, 55mph+ going downhill,

      Thanks for the feedback. The comments I get most are things like “what’s the fastest scooter I can get for $xxx” or what’s the longest range scooter for $xxx. We always want to answer the most asked questions. But I appreciate your perspective and will think about what that approach would look like.
      The problem I come across with with motor wattage is that it’s the least accurate spec. So it’s almost like plotting acceleration vs scooter color. I’m joking of course, but I’ve seen “500W - nominal” scooters just blow away “1,000W nominal” scooters.
      Almost all of my metrics are ranked vs price because it’s revealing of performance per dollar. I do a few charts which are range vs weight and top speed vs weight since some folks want range or speed but they can’t lift a super heavy scooter.
      I love scooter data. Even when I don’t put graphs in the videos, I’m looking at 10 or 15 graphs every time I do a review so I have an idea in my head where each one stacks up.
      It would be an interesting (and easy) video to make, to compare spec wattage to acceleration, since I have all of these numbers already for 180-something scooters. I would feel like I was calling out some of the scooters if I did that, because I think much of the time even the brands don’t know how much power the scooter makes.
      Some day I’ll get a scooter dyno, but even then I don’t think I could figure out a way to dyno front and rear motors at the same time, since the wheelbases are all different and the scooter would be trying to fall over the whole time because I wouldn’t be able to clamp the front end in place as you can with single motor scooters. When I raced motorcycles I dyno tuned my race bike myself a couple times a year. My race sponsor would loan me dyno time and I’d run it myself :-)
      All of our top speed numbers are tested on flat ground and are the average of the top speeds during two opposite direction runs. This cancels out small headwinds or tailwinds as well as small inclines.
      -Paul

  • @landsurfmarin
    @landsurfmarin Месяц назад +1

    Great video, but what testing equipment was used to verify speeds? Racebox GPS or similar?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Месяц назад

      Thanks for asking. We use a Vbox Sport. It’s GPS based, but uses accelerometers to interpolate 19 data points between GPS pulses, so you get data at 20Hz.
      For top speed I take two opposite direction runs and then pick 2 to 3 seconds of sustained top speed in each direction and take the average during that few seconds to eliminate spurious peaks and valleys. Then average the two opposite direction numbers together.
      The 0 to 30 numbers etc are also two-direction averages, but here based on single data points in each direction of course.
      -Paul

    Nice video. Really happy to watch a video about acceleration which the most important spec for me. However, why not compare the ninebot g2 max which is probably the most sold out scooter in the word at the moment ??

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Месяц назад +1

      I tend to use the Ninebot Max G2 a lot as a reference point in our videos, but didn't think to quote its 0 to 15 time in this one since it's not one of the best for acceleration vs price. It's a lot quicker to 15 than the original Max though. The Max was 6.4 seconds from 0 to 15 and the Ninebot MAX G2 is only 4.2 seconds from 0 to 15. I could have just stuck it in the middle of the graph at the beginning as a reference point.
      I'm glad to hear someone asking for it to be used even more as a reference point than I've been using it, because sometimes I feel like we refer to it too much. I love benchmarks!

    You mentioned NIU having a 2 year warranty. I've owned 3 KQI 3's, Two Blacks and one the step below that. They do not honor their Warranty very well. Their tires frequently go flat on pavement only driving. The cost to ship to NIU is on the consumer. If you don't save the box, (I did for all 3) you have to purchase something to ship it safely and cover the cost. Considering the KQI3 Black was purchased for 800.00, shipping of 150.00 to have the tire repaired (which we tried to repair ourselves and could not find a local dealer to do - it was impossible for us) is a huge cost. Lastly, after a negative review of their poor customer service on Amazon, they offered a full refund - then reneged on their offer and Amazon decided to offer a partial refund upon return. So 1 scooter was returned due to the faulty tires. The second KQI3 Black, is sitting in my garage with a broken Valve. We had no problem (I have a friend who puts on wheel chair tires all the time with spoons etc) taking (the prior) tire off, but getting it back on is really meant for professionals. The tires went bad 2 out of 3 scooters. If you haven't had to deal with their warranty, please be aware.
    I now have a Segway GT2 (Love it - amazing scooter) and ended up, as part of their recent competition, getting a 200.00 discount on the ZT3 Pro. After watching your reviews of the ZT3 Pro, we purchased that so my wife could keep up with the GT2 (in eco mode). Thanks for your amazing reviews, it made the ZT3 Pro, completely worth it. THANK YOU! Keep up the great work!

      Interesting subject. It's been a surprise in 2024 to encounter so many 11" tires on scooters which traditionally would have had 10's, like the Teewing GT4, the upcoming Apollo Phantom 2.0, the Segway ZT3 Pro, Gotrax GX3, then we have the oddball 10.5's like the Teewing GT2, Segway P65 and P100! -Paul

    I'm going to have to retire my Gyroor HR9 purely because the power cable to the motor is too short to be able to replace the worn out tire (the amount of force required to change non split rim needs more than 1 inch of slack). Maybe a video ranking most maintenance friendly scooters? The Inmotion Climber for example claims 10 minute tube changes, while changes on my scooters typically take 60 minutes and extreme effort. Or at least more mention of it in reviews.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion, I rank all scooters we test for reliability, though I don’t always mention the rank in the videos (next week I mention it for the Varla I’m testing now). The reliability score takes ease-of-service into account along with spares availability, IP rating, whether it’s UL listed, battery brand, type of tire, warranty length etc.
      can you open the deck and unplug the motor from the controller? Most higher end sports scooters have motor cable plugs now near the wheel, but not the smaller scooters. -Paul
