awesome performance... I didn't know that he is such an excellent guitarist as well... and this song has really some hurdles playing simultanously to while singing... great :-)
I think Paul was heavier around the Muddy Water Blues time period, but the aspect of this video makes him look very puffy. He sounds great though. He did a video in this time period in what he called high waisted pants. He introduces the video by acknowledging that it was a bad look on his part. He was embarrassed by that look. I guess he isn't embarrassed though by going shirtless in 1999 in a Bad Company reunion concert, or showing all of his chest hair back in the 70's. It's easy to think of Paul Rodgers as being more handsome than he actually is when you hear his great voice. Your mind imagines a better looking man. You don't think of a very hairy man with big teeth. If you've ever seen the Bad Company period in the 70's when Paul was missing a tooth, you'd realize he has big teeth. Paul was kind of rough looking in many of his appearances in Free. He looked better without all of the facial hair. Paul was more elegant and bad ass in Bad Company. In Free Paul was more rough and ready. Paul transformed his look around 1979 during the Desolation Angels period. His hair was shorter. He was clean shaven. He looked this way during The Firm albums as well. Here Paul has grown his hair out again. In just a couple of years he was going to be losing a lot of his hair. This time period was around 1994 and 1995. By 1997 Paul had lost a lot of hair. I'm not knocking him. I have the same problem. Now Paul is always wearing a hat on Instagram. The guy must be mostly bald. I'm sure he has been wearing a hairpiece for the last 20 years, maybe a bit less.
1:04 Here is where we get a little more information than we might have wanted. This is a bit shameless on the part of the camera person. It's OK if you want to see this. If you want to see Paul's junk in leather or vinyl pants, well OK then. Sometimes I feel that Rock and Roll, with the long hair, always had a sort of "trans" appeal to it. A man looking a bit like a female. Now men just try to become women. Maybe Rock and Roll jump started the trans movement.
The powers that were wouldn't allow Elvis to be photographed from the waist up. And later we got camera work like this. Who filmed this? Was this filmed by some random person? I doubt this went over the television.
