The sound of the engine brought back memories of the mid 70s, where some of my mates had those 50cc Italian sports mopeds. Great work there ash and effortless firewood.

Brilliant one Ash. Definitely can't have too many chainsaws. That shorter bar really suits it. Nice to see someone bring something back to life. Take Care Bud

I actually stumbled on the dewalt 18v chainsaw looking for tools last week mate and made me grin thinking I finally had an excuse for getting one..just cause it takes my batteries😏
I just don’t think i could do it though..I’d be like a dog with sad eyes without that noise and smell!!! 😂
    I’m looking at the husq 130 14” or stihl ms171 14 now… damn you Ash 😂👍🏼

The electric saws definitely have a place. I have an off brand 40v one from the local hardware store and for small jobs or building things its absolutely ideal! No point starting an engine up to make one small cut and turn it off again. But yea, that engine is also very fun 🤣

I have questions... Is 5 too many chainsaws? My girlfriend has 3 and I am getting a bit worried. Mind you, one was kaput on arrival (bent tensioner bolt), and another is a Baby Chainsaw (which when using, we have found it necessary to sing to the tune of Baby Shark. Don't follow us).
Secondly, why were you checking for bar oil on the wood before cutting? Was this to make sure the lubrication system was working?
Do the bar lengths make much difference to cutting (apart from the very obvious ability for longer bars to cut through wider trunks)? Given that most of the trunks you seem to be cutting are no greater than (I am guessing) 15 inches, is there merit in having a significantly longer bar? We've only been cutting up to 10 inches so far, with (I think) an 18 inch bar.
Great vid, by the way. I always love to see a bit of successful restoration work. 👍

I'm not going to lie, I will probably get more🤣 Yea if it's oiling properly you can see a thin line of oil forming on the wood.
As for bar length it's all personal preference really. Obviously if you need to cut massive trees you want a massive bar but I like to use as long as I can because I find it just makes life easier. Even bucking firewood I use a 24" bar so can stand up straighter rather than crouching all the time. On my 550 I use an 18 to drop trees as it's easier to carry around.
