40 YEARS LATER, EVIL RETURNS HOME. Did you notice the song on the radio when Michael breaks out in Halloween (2018)? I went back and found every easter egg! Halloween (2018) is not a remake, but this episode is. I first covered this film in 2018, when it was still in theaters, but since then I've noticed many more secrets that I want to talk about.
In this video I'll team back up with Jimmy Champane to discuss everything you might have missed in Halloween (2018). The movie is a 2nd attempt at making a direct sequel to the original Halloween, so despite the fact that it ignores everything from Rick's Halloween II onward, we see bits and pieces of the franchise's other timelines pop up as easter eggs and references. With 40 years of lore to consider, there's a lot to cover.

About Things You Missed
These videos point out some of the little details you may have missed in your favorite horror franchises as I analyze their meaning and why they are noteworthy. I'll breakdown every small detail, easter egg, reference, connection, motif, cameo, callback and homage that I can find! Typically, I'll cover Things You Missed in horror movies, and Things You Missed in horror film trailers.
About Halloween
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Master of horror John Carpenter executive produces and serves as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum. Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

Wait, so Jamie Lee Curtis was just singing random lyrics then 40 years later, they decided to transform it into a full song?? The dedication behind that amazes me.
They actually only recorded that one line, why neither of these "Halloween expert" knew that is beyond me.

@mistersmiley9136 was still turned into a song for the 2018 film. Lmao calm down
I love how you pointed out that Laurie was actually the ‘new Loomis’. She knew he was evil and wanted him dead. It consumed her life, just like it consumed Loomis’. 🎃🖤
I like how in H20 Laurie said that she hoped and prayed that her brother wouldn’t find her. Where as in Halloween 2018 she said to Hawkins that she’s prayed every night that he would escape. It’s like we’ve seen Laurie portrayed differently and I think Jamie lee Curtis has done such an excellent job.
Oh yeah the Laurie's from each timeline are very differently written and for the better too
I have to rewatch them, but, I used to wish, hope and pray that my abusive ex wouldn't find me. To the point that my son and I where couch hopping bc he always found us. We where afraid of staying somewhere to long.
Now, I want him to find me. I want to get that confrontation dealt, & over with.
I stopped running years ago.
I'm mentally ready to put it behind me.
@@xLoVeKiLlS2829x What you just said here reminds me of my abusive ex-wife. The barrage of insults & non-stop rage was unberable. Her corrosive behaviour would drive you insane. I am glad you are doing fine now.
It's confusing
Something we all missed in HALLOWEEN ENDS was that JEREMY, the kid who died Halloween Night 2019, was a massive PAIN in the ass...
I believe the dollhouse was Laurie’s house in 18. It both represented Laurie’s obsessive nature with knowing the layout of her house but pushing it to Karen as a young girl. It’s Karen’s toy but it’s also a training exercise in survival merging the messed up parenting Laurie gave her and her childhood innocence.
It burning is just meant to parallel the actual house burning
The white horse could be a reference to the four horsemen of the apocalypse, the white horse being ridden by a figure that often represents pestilence/the anti christ/conquest. Michael has been a plague onto haddonfield and the strode family, and as an embodiment of evil, could be likened to the anti christ. And with Laurie being the main person to survive him, he could see her as the thing he needs to conquer, and Laure likewise might feel the same, that she needs to conquered him, for the alternative is death
Laurie causing the bus crash which freed Michael always felt to me like what was supposed to happen. It's a shame that the test audiences didn't agree.
@@BoniJNeto she’s obsessed when the movie starts. People keep saying he’s just a guy who randomly killed a few of her friends and she should be seeking therapy instead of buying guns. He’s been locked up for 40 years in this timeline. Laurie freeing him and realizing that he’s not obsessed with her like she thought and trying to stop him is still a redemptive arc.
@@rubberlover666 A rather psychotic one.
@@rubberlover666 I’m not sure if it could really entirely make sense though. If she caused the crash it would make sense given her obsession to go inside the bus and absolutely make sure to finish the job (make sure he’s dead). In that case the only two likely outcomes would be that he either kills Laurie or has to run away from her. In my opinion if he ran away from her so early on it would be way less satisfying to see her become the hunter again in the climax of the movie.
Yea agree due to the way things played out and her wanting him to escape again
@@the1brucewayne But, like CZ said, that would fit in nicely with the “gender swapped” roles in this film. Laurie is now the obsessed one who has been waiting patiently for years for a chance to kill Michael. It would be her stalking him through Haddonfield. It would also be her realizing she wasn’t chosen for a reason, and that even if she killed Michael, he already won because he took 40 years of her life away. It would then be her trying to honestly rebuild her life. I wonder if any of that will be in Halloween Ends?
I don't remember if you stated your "Laurie Causing the Bus Crash" theory in a prior video or I saw elsewhere, but in any case, I'm glad the filmmakers didn't commit to that as it would drastically lower any sympathy for Laurie as she and Dr.Sartain would be directly responsible for the murder spree in this film and Halloween Kills. On paper it makes sense, but in execution could drastically backfire as the audience and fans of the character would see this as an irredeemable act. You end up wanting The Shape to kill Laurie for her sins.
In a separate continuity, she unintentionally beheaded an innocent man because Michael switched places. As a character, Laurie isn't tainted by the act, but causing a bus crash to satisfy her need for Vengeance? She'd be no better than Michael Myers.
"It's Halloween. Everyone's entitled to one good scare."
- Sheriff Brackett
I like the universe where Michael and Laurie are related. Thats the lore everything spun off from.
An additional (albeit looser) element that I felt tied H18 to Halloween II is how Loomis and Laurie both give a brief farewell to Michael before setting the fire that is meant to kill him.
Loomis: "It's time, Michael." (flicks lighter that causes explosion)
Laurie: "Goodbye, Michael." (drops flare to start housefire)
This is 99% well-researched and thorough, and 1% "Okay, we're stretching it, buddy."
Fun fact. The "lady in the window" that gets stabbed in the neck is a friend of mine. Her hair at the time was past her butt and she said she lost hair for like 3 days because he yanked it so hard. She's a stunt woman and a kung-fu instructor. She could literally take him out in real life 🤣. We worked on the Divergent series together. Marian is a cool chic.
What a very lucky woman to have Michael pull your hair so hard it comes out 😳
I wanted at least ONE timeline where Marian survives. This is the third timeline now where she dies.
She would not beat micheal irl.He would fold her like an omelette but still pretty cool that she is in a movie and a kung fu instructor.
@@jaquan323 she was reffering to James Jude Courtney, the actor who was playing Michael Myers.. she couldnt beat Myers in real life because.. well.. Michael isnt real clown
@@TomGunna88 I thought you were referring to micheal himself, shouldve been clearer…clown
Another idk if you want to call it an Easter egg, but during the scene when Michael looks at the baby I’ve noticed at first the baby is crying, but when Michael walks over and looks at the baby before walking off subtitles say the baby soothes, dropping the crying act. Weird and I wonder what they meant by that
Only new to this channel but I’m so impressed with how much detail you get into with all these movies. I just watched some of your Final Destination videos and loved them. Keep up the good work🎉
I like your channel a lottt!! Can't wait for this year's Halloween
Let's hope it meets the hype!
You can subtilely see the eye injury when they try to trigger Mikey with the mask. He slightly turns & it looks like he’s squinting
Same in kills when he puts the mask on before the stand off with the mob
But in this story he never gets shot in the eye?
@@SpyriMix in the first film he gets stabbed with the coat hanger
@@RickJames-wf2rm oh mb thanks for reminding me
@@SpyriMix he got poked in the eye with the hangar by Laurie when she was in the closet. That’s where that injury comes from
The needle hole from when Laurie stabbed him in the neck with her knitting needle, i loved that detail thats visible when myers turns his head to the right right before he kills the woman thats on the phone (halloween 2 sequence) @22:31
The untied shoelaces thing might also be a clever nod to “The X-Files”/Vampire lore. In the “X-Files” episode “Bloodbath” in season 12, Mulder and Scully run afoul of some vampires in a small town and Mulder knew that, at least in this version of the lore, vampires are extremely neat and anal retentive and that they are bothered by shoelaces that are tied while not being worn. The patient in question in “Halloween” (2018) apparently required an umbrella to keep the sun off of him, similar to a vampire who could not stand direct sunlight.
Season 5, episode 12. It's called "Bad Blood'.
But the difference is that halloween is 🔥 and Xfiles is ghey
@@joshrobinson6785 Terrible take. They're both great.
Been waiting for this one to come out. So pumped for Halloween Ends.
Also the crossover with you and Jimmy in this Halloween series has been awesome.
Jimmy wasn't in this one like at all lol
@@SmudgyCritiques You must not have watched the whole video. Jimmy comes on, just after 32:00
@@lisaheisey6168 I meant his presence in the video, it took up to 32 minutes for him to show up and the video is only 36 minutes.
@@SmudgyCritiques That's still not the same, as not being in it "at all".
@@SmudgyCritiques I agree, I thought it was weird. In their last Halloween breakdowns it was more far balanced. Either Jimmy didn’t have a lot of input for this video or he didn’t have alot of time to record his portion.
The truck saying Resurrection could also be a meta reference to how Hollywood likes to resurrect old ips.
I'm not a psychologist by any means, (so do not take what I say as fact. Know the difference between presenting things as information and discussing a layperson's understanding. I can't believe I even have to put this disclaimer, but apparently some folks don't understand the difference.) but from what I have learned watching a lot of shows covering real psychopaths and sociopaths, the idea that psychopaths feel no emotion is a misconception, it's empathy that they lack, so Sartain seemingly comforting Michael is not something that would be entirely pointless. He could still experience fear and concern for himself.
(I knew psych majors were stereotypically egotistical know-it-alls, but I've never encountered someone that is that stereotype before now. 🤣)
Please don’t share information on mental health unless you actually have a valid education in that field. I do have a psych degree and it’s astounding how many shows made for a general audience (true crime, documentaries, even just popular education) are years behind the scientific community in their understanding of the mind and human behavior
@@maddieb.4282 I outright said I am not a psychologist. I was not "sharing information", I was talking about what I've heard. I never tried to present any of what I said as fact. There are plenty of people spreading inaccurate information and presenting it as information that you could be saying this to instead. If people reading my comment don't take what I said with a grain of salt, they would likely encounter people who were genuinely misinforming people.
35:27 The way they panned down to show Allison holding the knife felt more like they were trying to imply that she's going to go crazy and replace Michael as the new danger, like they did with that shot of Jaime on the stairs.
or it could be that, as this is now the era of elevated horror, they're noding to the fact that in the original slashers, the heroines would always drop the weapons they attacked the boogeymen with because they thought they were dead, but they weren't. I think it's saying both that this heroine is more intelligent than that and that the monster is still alive, so she needs to keep the knife.
Ever since I first watched this movie (I hadn't seen as many of the previous installments, I think only 2 and H20), I've had this theory that Michael has a passive power: his evil is so powerful it's able to corrupt others. If this is true, it corrupted Laurie, Loomis, Jaimie Lloyd, Sartaine, and even Haddonfield itself to an extent. Everything his shadow touches becomes infected with his poison. I'd love for writers of a future Halloween movie to actually lean into this idea.
They saw this comment and made 2
Ι can't believe it took them 40 years to get a proper Michael Myers mask.
Hahaha! I can't get over the Fifth one. Lol
@@irisbrown7267 shut up...some wounds will never heal. :')
Thank you for your attention to even the minutest of details. That heart pillow and the black globe was a hell of a capture.
I used your audible link a while ago and I haven't stopped using it! I listened to Carrie, Coraline, The Shining, and now I'm reading through Doctor Sleep. So worth it!!!
Also you both rock ❤️
I never saw him as New Loomis because Loomis would never be Like Sartain and wants to end him and not free him. Loomis > Sartain
This is my favorite time of the year because I call Autumn the season of Horror.
I think the doll house is actually a recreation of the Doyle house, much like Laurie's house is actually a replica of the Doyle house in a weird way (exposed 2nd floor balcony, slat tri-fold closet, etc.)
The tiny scar on Michael’s neck is such a thought out detail!
Michael unmasked in the car looks like the old man from don’t breathe
You are so right ✅!!
I seen she had the same hat from when she wore back in 1978 Halloween. I did noticed as well the whole she pulled the disappearing act when she was thrown over the balcony trick the way he did when he was shot those 40 years ago. And yes her hunting him in the closet same way with him finding her in the closet and her face emerging from the shadows of the doorway exactly as his was.
How is it that everyone who goes in depth for this movie misses Michael's reaction to his mask. HE LITERALLY FLINCHES as he senses the mask! He can feel it as the British Vlogger says.
What a great way to start off my day by watching my two favorite Halloween experts.🔪🎃🤘

CZ Bud I appreciate you and Jimmy's time for all the work you guys put into these
So weird i just rewatched H18 this week and noticed what you mentioned about Laurie’s house floors being shot through the basement but when you see closely its tile. Also- in Julians room did anyone notice the pumpkin with the heart eyes Dave brought over was in the fish tank when Hawkins finds Vicky? I was wondering if there was meaning to that? 🎃
Not gunna lie i was just trying to find this on friday! Watched the other things you missed on the older halloweens and was hoping you had the new one but didnt see it! Keep up the good work!
Halloween 2018 is fire 🔥. Didn't realize Danny McBride was one of the directors!
Wanna say he was a writer of all 3 films too
Great video it's cool how you caught all of these. Keep up the amazing work. By the way are you doing halloween kills. If so I'm so excited
Yep, Kills is next week.
12:32-I always thought that was nacho cheese not pudding 🧀🤷🏼♂️
I have a theory about the opening title sequences. The original is Laurie is the pumpkin and Michael is the focus of her story. Then the same is there but like it being 40 years later that we are reintroduced to them both and brings life back to the franchise. Then kills has a the fire or chaos of Michael spreads to the town. Hence the fire burning up I can't wait to see how Ends finishes the themes of the opening.
I hate no one talks about the mechanic that Micheal killed to get the jump suit
Sort of a call back to H4 when he does the same thing to the mechanic then.
Jimmy making cameos. Never a bad time to see Jimmy. I think you guys got a beef going. Poor Jimmy🤥. Love seeing you back brother. Always something extremely fresh and in-depth. Loved this.
Thanks for another Great and In-Depth Video 😀

Same. I don't even remember how I came across Virgin Suicides
Keep up the great vids CZ’World.
LOL love the H60 movie poster! Well done 😂
My theory as to why Michael ignores babies and kids, he was said to be killing to get home and he’s just murdering anyone he comes across. While that must be true, the movie stated it after all, I think he is sort of like a wild animal. He’s killing anything he THINKS will get in his way to getting home. He’s territorial and will also kill anything INSIDE his home. So he is specifically killing those he deems as a threat to him or his territory. Kids aren’t a threat to him so he ignores them. Animals have been seen doing something similar, while of course not always especially with predators, but they have been seen ignoring/avoiding kids of other species or of their own species if they aren’t hungry, invading their territory, or a threat.
So I’m curious if that was on purpose with all this “Predator Prey” themes they’ve been having in the new trilogy. Then again this is probably pretty established and I’m just voicing something everyone already knows 😂
Anyway, happy Halloween 🎃🖤🖤🖤
That is okay, I kind of agree with you!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃🤪😜 To you as well!!
My only question then is why did he kill the kid at the crash site? That was the only thing that seemed out of character to me since he ignored all other kids.
@@TheArvenduri I haven’t seen the movie in a while, was the kid dialing 911? Or maybe was holding the gun? I can’t remember to be honest.
@@mrhalloween3592 from what I remember he was hiding in the car. May have just been that since he was in the car MM wanted he had to die.

@@CZsWorld Great job with this breakdown, but one thing you didn't mention was about the strange woman in the Resurrection bus at the gas station where Michael kills the podcasters. When Aaron, the male podcaster, looks up at her while he's gassing up the car, the woman appears to signal him with her eyes, like she's trying to warn him about Michael. I think she was able to see what was happening in the garage from where she was sitting but was perhaps not able to move for some reason. She is clearly looking from Aaron, over to where Michael is, and then back several times.
Maybe it qualifies as something you think everyone would catch while watching? I didn't think so.

33:30 small nitpick here but floors are typically wood then have what ever placed on top of them, IE wood flooring or tiles.
I always thought that the Oscar kill was a Halloween Resurrection reference, since the red head lady who goes to Michael's little sub basement and she is impaled into the gate, Oscar's was just much better xD
Good point!
@Carra good point I never thought about that but your right. Maybe off topic but..Speaking of Oscar’s death did you/anyone notice or think this as a reference/throwback to Halloween 5 and the man in black? The reason I say this is cuz at the beginning of HKills when Cameron is trying to call Oscar then his VM picks up and when the camera pans up on Oscar’s body he’s all in black..it reminded me of the scene in H5 where the man in black gets off the bus and they pan up a bit after they show his black boots and pants..it kinda reminded me of H5 if that makes sense
Are you going to do Rob Zombie's Halloweens too? (or have you already?)
