Personally, I loved Minecraft Dungeons. It was amazing and so were the DLCs imo. After the Nether Portal, it got kind of boring. Sad it died off. Also Amazing video, very high quality!!
I agree. If the devs focused more on the end game and its lasting appeal, instead of DLCs, this game could have been a long-lasting success with its addictive gameplay.
It did get lots of love, it received very positive reception from Critics & the community, Dungeons is considered the most successful Minecraft Spin off, it even outselled Story Mode.
I can see why it could outsell story mode as it had a large boom at the start and a slow decline and it was updated frequently as that may have appealed to players. And as a player myself I must say it can get very addicting. Other than the problems that arose for the game it had a great ground structure that definitely could have expanded into something great.
I have had dungeons for almost 3 years and i started a co op world with my friends and it really hits hard. They show up to my house, grab one of my joy cons, and then we enjoy. Honestly, mojang should have put more attention in dungeons
Agreed. Legends wasn't competition for Dungeons, because Legends was a fail at launch. Dungeons was and still is great, and I'm mad they dropped it for no reason.
I'm sad because I never got to play the game but I was here since the opening cinematic and I explored the lore for years I'm still hopeful that I'll be able to play it
I love this game because of the story and dungeon crawler aspect of the game i stopped playing it because of the lack of content towards the end, id love to see a sequel to this game but it probably wont happen because of the fails of fails of these new games that they make
My family of 3 absolutely loves this game still and we show no signs of slowing down since we’ve made it to Apocalypse 12! I hope the creators will pick it back up with a re-boot to satisfy those who abandoned the love for this game. February 2024 & we still love it. 🥰 ❤
Minecraft: Story Mode needs remasters. Game preservation is key! At least Minecraft Dungeons isn’t gone from existence like MC:SM! I thought Dungeons was fun, but it had flaws and also I didn’t play all the DLCS. Dungeons could’ve been much better, but still my second favorite spin off besides Story Mode.
It died because there is no meaningful endgame content. There are many ways to get op items, but there is no reason to get them since there are no difficult gamemodes or competitive leaderboards
I like to start a playthrough from time to time, if microsoft adds mod support to it like bethesda did to skyrim and fallout 4 i think itll survive for much longer
I got Minecraft Dungeons: Ultimate Edition at 50% off on Steam. This edition included all the DLCs and was a bit over $15. So it was a lucky buy for me. Gameplay-wise, difficulty ranks up steadily then starts getting higher and higher, idk if its skill-issue but I hate the way the game put me through at those difficulties. At the end its all about the grind and trying to get the best gear possible by redoing levels over and over.
The biggest flaw I think this game has its just there's not enough meat to chew on which is a sin for games like these where replaying the same missions is the core gameplay. Just adding more meaningful progression and end game would have been nice, nothing hardcore but a skill tree would have probably made this game a bit more fun as you had something to grind towards. If the game ever does get a sequel, and I pray it does, I hope they give it more mechanics and flesh out old ones, obviously more items and weapons but also more enchants, like why not have unique enchants that completely change how a weapon type is used or add classes that restrict what kind of equipment you can use so you're incentivized to switch classes if you want to play a certain style. This is a problem I see with both MC Dungeons and Legends, for as fun as it is and as easy as it is to get into, the core gameplay loop is too shallow that it gets stale really quickly. They're restricting themselves because of Minecraft's generally younger fanbase that they end up sacrificing depth to make the game as accessible as possible and that's not an entirely bad thing but there could have and should have been more to this game. But yeah that's my entire thoughts unloaded on this game.
The game would be way more fun if player character wasn't so fragile. I swear to god, I've been playing Diablo since 1998, and probably every single ARPG in existence, including Path of Exile which many consider hard, but none of them was nearly as difficult as this game, which says a lot I think. Ammo is limited, no real spellcasting, and if you try melee you get squished. FML
To put it plain ans simple, it was made for kids. Nothing more nothing less. To make the game more interesting it would have needed a much better item system, a much better upgrade system and a end game gameplay loop. The gameplay, how chars move and how you attack, was awesome.
If Mojang hadn't just left it, it would've become sooo much more. That goes for Minecraft Legends as well. Also when you used to play the game (I'm not sure if you still do :D) what level are you at right now?
I Know They Said They Would Not Update Dungeons Any More But If They Relize Alot Of People Want Them To Update And Support It They Might Even Tho Prob Not
It failed because I paid and THEY failed to link the purchase to my account. Literally played it once, closed it and it was gone for forever. Microsoft sucks, switched my OS to Atlas after that disapointment
They had a massive game breaking bug which basically killed the game for almost everybody. I got the strongest weapons available in two days by doing ti
the concept and game is good, on steam it has "Very Positive" reviews but its a bit naked, it needed a some more updates to keep it interesting and they just did the minimum and bounced to another spinoff instead of fully making this game
Reason 1 - It was born like a fish on dry land and left to flounder. Reason 2 - It was the creative dumping ground for every concept and cool idea that Minecraft never got, basically, it had so many interesting and appealing things in its world that we all know would never make it in regular Minecraft and the devs were probably squirming like someone having to go to the bathroom ASAP with clogged potential ideas and things they could have used in Minecraft. The sheer amount of items in the game is just a broad example of that. Now it's just a sad source of salt for anyone mad about the regular Minecraft not getting anything meaningful and this game has so many great things ready-made practically they could pull from while the devs spent years adding Polar Bears, Bats, and every new wood type under the sun. While the game suffered, they still haven't addressed problems people probably stopped talking about a long time ago and modded out, like inventory space and the terrible options for travel, enchants, combat, etc. I'm glad they're finally taking a look at these game aspects now but it's been too many years in the making to even expect any positivity about it. Reason 3 - Going off of Reason 2, this game had so much more concepts and elements of the Minecraft world enriching it, but in reality, it was more like a slideshow than a game. All that stuff and the game is as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. My perspective on it, as someone who doesn't mind the style of game this is, but thinks that it just slights normal Minecraft so much that it hurts its ability to be enjoyed while people are launching literal smear campaigns the last mob vote. Reason 4 - This games longevity sucks, and can't survive well without more content, but that's a major design flaw, especially with games in this genre and stuff. At the end of the day, randomized things and procedural generation can only go so far and it's not really deep or interesting. I know this focused mainly on being mad about regular Minecraft feeling sidelined while this thing got all the shiny new things that didn't take decades to finally add a decent amount of things besides just blocks, but this really feels lkke it should be talked about more, cause I haven't heard of another person with this sentiment so far, who actually plays Dungeons and it'd be nice to get another perspective on it too, cause I feel like it's a valid complaint and aggravation to have with it.
At least it didn't flop like Minecraft Legends. That one was not finished at all and actually sucked. Minecraft Dungeons? Oh yeah, that's way better than that even after development stopped.
Real conversation of Mojang when discussing on how to make the game: "Alright boys, do your best, make the game very good, stop caring about it and abandon the player base, profit."

Agreed. Legends wasn't competition for Dungeons, because Legends was a fail at launch.

Well, I got minecraft dungeons last year on steam.
You can still play it, Hero Edition includes all DLC. The game isnt dead, they just stopped adding new content.
It was my fav game, then I completed everything. And then I just got kinda bored of it. Still holds a place in my heart❤

Story mode is meh at best, also the game is already preserved since release (iykyk)
3 years later…I’m the last player still playing this game.
I remember when the ocean dlc came out in the good old days
Deep dark dlc is really needed
