The Kats at AMT spared no expense in bringing this beauty back into more glory than every. They have retooled the missing hood for the advanced custom version and more importantly have tooled up new parts “missing” from the kit since its inception including the firewall, radiator, battery and master cylinder. According to our source at AMT, "we opened up some closed parts gates too, to get a few other small bits back in there." Sweet, sweet, sweet! This great AMT Advanced Customizing kit of a classic subject is now for the first time ever, a true and complete jewel.

The Impala is Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and is generally among the better selling American made automobiles in the United States.[4][5]For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-size model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994-96, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8-powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.
The 1963 Impala featured rectilinear styling with an engine-turned aluminum rear taillight panel surrounded by a chrome border on SS models. Engine choice was similar to 1962, with the small-block 283-and-327-cubic-inch (4.6 and 5.4 L) V8s most popular. The Sport Sedan featured a new, creased roof line. A new "coved" instrument panel with simple indicator lights for hot and cold engine conditions. An optional factory tachometer was built into the dashboard, just above the steering wheel; it was rarely ordered. Impala wagons got triple-unit taillights for the first time.A special 427-cubic-inch (7.0 L) version of the 409 engine was used in the 1963 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe, ordered under Chevrolet Regular Production Option (RPO) Z11. This was a special package created for drag racers, as well as NASCAR, and it consisted of a 427 cubic inch engine with aluminum body parts, and a cowl-induction air intake system. The aluminum body parts were fabricated in Flint, Michigan at the facility now known as GM Flint Metal Center. Unlike the later, second-generation 427, it was based on the W-series 409 engine, but with a longer 3.65 in (93 mm) stroke. A high-rise, two-piece aluminum intake manifold and dual Carter AFB carburetors fed a 13.5:1 compression ratio to produce an under-rated[clarification needed] 430 hp (320 kW) and 575 lb·ft (780 N·m) of torque. 50 RPO Z11 cars were produced at the Flint GM plant.

I may have to get this kit. My late older brother had one of these back in 1970. It was white, with a black interior and bucket seats. He dropped a 283, bored out to a 427 in it. He also fitted an Oldsmobile tranny in it. He had to split the Olds & Chevy driveshafts, then have them welded together and balanced. At 425 hp, that car screamed! He had a six-inch steering wheel in it, a Hearst shifter, and a Holley 4-barrel. I learned to drive a stick on it, when I was 15. My brother was a talented guy, as far as mechanics and bodywork went. I miss him, and I miss that car! --Cindi (Granny Glue-Sniffer)
Very cool, thanks for watching Cindi!

Nice Decal sheet. Like the way you make up a little story on the model that gives reason for the way you build and paint it
My Nephew been looking all over for a 63 Impala for a long time thanks. Really like the videos great stuff Thanks
When you build these nostalgic annual 60's kits it brings a tear to my eyes. I built most of those AMT kits when I was a kid and I loved the Chevy 409 and I played the Beach Boys song "SHE'S REAL FINE MY 409" until my mom told me that's enough! I mowed lawns and gathered pop bottles all summer long and bought models to build. I had a whole fleet of 63 and 64 Chevy 409's in all the colors. I had to take summer school one year so I took typing, glad I did. I wrotr a story about a guy named Chevy and his 409's. Teacher was impressed by my typing but didn't understand the story line.
Sprayed the rollback frame with your favorite Rustoleum 2X flat black, I can see why you like it, it's smooth and covers great. Fantastic build by the way, I'm not sure I remember all those accessories that is with the kit now. Trophy, TV, record player, etc were to cool back then. I remember a 3 in 1 kit.
Thanks a lot Larry!

Great memories car. I was 11 when my dad bought a new 1963 Impala. Silver blue non ss, 283. In the showroom I kept telling my dad to buy the SS model. He said I was crazy, "Do you know how much gas in?" Lol....yes under 20 cents a gallon thinking back! Final cost with seatbelts and floor mats thrown in was $3,000 out the door. I'll buy and build this one!
Thanks and enjoy your hobby!

Gotta love those cram- packed non rattling boxes, most times they help me in making up my mind on which models to purchase. Lol Once again thanks thanks thanks for the videos. 😘
Thanks George!

When I'm interested in getting a new car kit, this channel is where to go for a first impression. Great!
Great to hear!
One of my pet peeves, molded in exhausts!! 😳😲
Beautiful work mate, as always! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Thanks for watching!
The music you play for the paint booth is always so chill and mellow. And that first one you had in this video was especially soothing. Dangerous to watch these late at night lol. 😄
Thanks man, glad you like it!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
That's kinda like the general lee in the fact that it was built as a street legal race car
Nice Build looks easy enough to put together. Yours turned out very nice.
Thanks, it's a peach!

Started modeling when I was 8 years old. Missed a year of school due to illness and my Dad thought it would be a good hobby to occupy my time. Almost 60 years later and I'm still at it. I'm so glad I found your channel - love your philosophy and approach to modelling...totally agree. Add your building skills, calming voice and the detail you provide in the presentations to the mix, well that's a win-win-win. Thanks you so much! PS - Gonna add this '63 Chevy to my build list. Cheers...
Thanks a lot for the nice words! Enjoy your re-found hobby!
Love all your videos. You never go by the book and always give them character and a backstory
I got one of these for my dad for Christmas I didn’t know it didn’t come with paint i gotta get some now
Most models do not come with anything but the model.
I haven't even watched this video yet and I love it. I owned a 69 and I miss it. And I currently own and drive an 08 and there very big and beautiful cars
Thanks Stephen!
I appreciate your style - your techniques
are something that Joe Modeler
can replicate in the real world without
breaking the bank and complete
in a reasonable timeframe.
Plus - you keep things fun.
Way to go !
Absolutely!
The 63 is great body style. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!

Very beautifully built model. Awesome body color. Congratulations and thanks for posting the video. I got the Revell 1:25 scale 1963 impala kit which has only two versions, stock and low rider, but looks like a better kit in my opinion, just from what I saw in the AMT box. Don't stop the nice job.
Another great looking build. I do like those Impalas. Nice colour choice too.
Thanks a lot Steve!

You do an awesome job building these kits. This 63 brings back memories of riding around in a metallic green 63 SS with a guy that worked with my dad in 1965.
I was 17 and though I was king riding shotgun 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks man!

once again, another stellar build. i think that tv would look good on that workbench in the shop build
Thanks you bet it would, it's really cool!

I just got into car model building after a 35 year hiatis. I'm not doing so good. I am not having good results with spray cans and I dont know what I could do any different. I wash my plastic thoroughly, I use Tamiya gray primer, and testors, rustoleum spray cans. I have problems with gloss paints running up to the trim and puddling ?I try and use short thin coats in the beginning but I still have problems. I dont have this with airbrushing. I'd like to save time by using cans but the results are poor. Im not looking to do a show quality job, just a decent job. Great utube channel
Usually runny paints are being out on too think, but it could be a lack of shaking, too hot, too cold, etc. Impossible to diagnose on the internet.
Thanks and enjoy your hobby!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Make sure you're not spraying paint in hot and humid conditions. Moisture in the air will play havoc with paint jobs. Otherwise, spray several light coats - beginning with a fog or misting coat - instead of just one or two heavy coats. Allow at least 20-30 minutes drying time between coats. Also, don't hold the can too close to the car body when you're spraying back-and-forth. If you don't get any dust or dirt particles trapped in a paint coat, allow the final coat to completely dry for 48-hours, then lightly wet sand or polish to a mirror finish. At least, that's the process I use to obtain good results.
Tail lights awsom. Whole build awsom. You the Man.
Thanks Bob!

I was born in 1963. I love the big full-size cars, so this is my absolute favorite Chevrolet. Only one thing that could make this thing better, dual quads. You do amazing work. I would like to build one of these.
Thanks bud!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Like the silver detail on the interior makes it more detailed and realistic than just all one color. Great build.
Thank you Robert!

That is a great looking build, I just added it to the need list. That kit is the first one with a 409 without it going through the oil pan. Keep up the great work and Rust In Peace.
Thanks Chopper!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
It looks really nice! I like the gloss coat on the seats, dash and panels and it gives it a very realistic look to them. Thanks for sharing this.
That was a great 27min escape from reality. Thanks Chris. 🏁🏆🎯
Glad you liked it man!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Came out very nice, small town stock car works well.
I notice it's the convertible interior so it's good that round 2 included the boot.
Thanks for watching!
Great build as usual. I originally was going to skip this kit but after seeing this build, I think I will give model roundup a call.
Thanks Craig!
i built 1 of the amt ford phantasy i think van kits about 10 yrs ago i put the rabbit,.tv, trophy record player from one these older release kits it turned out pretty nice i cut a full window out in the slider door so you could see in it turned out pretty cool i thought but you sure cant beat the xtras in the 63 imp for sure
Good looking build Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks as always Charlie!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Sweet Retro Ride! , Chris keep up the inspiring work..... showing the begainers & the youngsters it's not that hard to get a fantastic model straight from the box. As you always say, " build for yourself and enjoy"
Thanks Jon. I'm all about FUN and easy model making!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
When I paint the vehicles. I first paint the interior top and sides. Then I paint the body.
Whatever gets the job done for you!
Stock cast iron manifolds, no headers? You do a great job with your models, they're always so nice and neat. I guess you just have to work with what you get. My first car was a '63 Impala, age 18, a senior in high school. It had a 327 cubic inch engine, 4-barrel carb, Hurst 4 speed, dual exhaust, with headers, Thrush mufflers, 12 bolt posi rear. Gabriel highjacker shocks in the rear. It was a two-door hardtop, no post. It was a true SS, in Honduras maroon, I put grey, American Racing, torque thrust rims on it,15 x 7 in the front, 15 ×8 in the rear, with a 60 series tire in the back.
Yup, I review out of the box but there is a billion things a custom builder can do with this. Thanks!
Good god man you make painting a model car quick fast and easy, I like it
Thanks, putting the fun back in models!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Beautiful but no other like the Autocar dumptruck you made. Thanks Chris for sharing.
Thanks Charlie!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Nice build, was thinking during the video it'd be fun to build this car into the one in cheech and chongs first movie, the brown car with the blueish green furry interior and the chain steering wheel lol wonder how many kits I'd have to bash to pull that off. Lol
Thanks Mike!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Like always a knock out of the park...... I really love the way you did this one!
Thanks John!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop

Thanks Greg!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Do you think you could provide a list of colors you use, for said parts.. a list would be amazing, I've watched so many of your videos! Just soaking up the knowledge. Love your channel!
Very Sharp car. This custom looks great. Fine 409 set up. 😀
Thanks William!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Nicely done Impala. Not showroom stock with all the fancy details, but a mild custom will do. Like the owner wants to drive the car, not park it and show it off like a trailer queen.
I've just never really fancied the older cars of the early to mid 60s. I like all the chrome trim, but it can be a pain trying to detail all that chrome. Molotow chrome isn't perfectly chrome, but it's the cheapest thing to getting the closest chrome finish on trim. BMF is the ultimate in chrome detailing. I just don't have the patience to use BMF. Going through so many blades just to cut out strips is aggravating.
Thanks for watching Mark!
As usual an awesome build
Thanks man!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
great build as always Chris, but I gotta say, I love that blue colour you used. Couple that with the lovely matt black, it makes the whole model 'pop' - Can't wait to see the next build! Maybe do a boat or a plane for a challenge ;-)
I've got all kinds of cool stuff coming up. I'll be giving more previews on my new FB page, check it out!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
another masterpiece, nice chris! keep 'em coming! looking forward to see saturday's project
Thanks man, that's going to be a total change of pace, hope you enjoy!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
thanks for posting ... anybody remember the old Pyro kits from the sixtys? I think they had brass plated chrome parts 1/32 scale ... mostly antique cars
I have some cool Pyro ships but no cars.
Another beauty
Thanks Lance!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Oh man, just accessories alone are worth the price of the kit!!
You bet!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Your color scheme came out good. I've been looking for the colors at ACE and HOME DEPOT. They have some primers but none of the rest. AMT is doing a lot of good things with their kits. I think they stretched it a little with building the drag version though.
Interior pieces, side pipes and decals do not make a drag version.
I still bought it though. I used to have one, and I'm going to build the kit like I wanted the real one to turn out. Keep up the work.
I'm glad you took time out of your day to watch and comment! Thanks!
I like that little television
Me too!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Another fantastic build. Have you ever put your builds In a model competition? Because I believe that your work is competition worthy. Cris have a wonderful and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thank you but no, contests are not for me. My models have plenty imperfections and being judged by rivet counters is not my thing. I do like going and looking at other's models though!
Nice kit of a beautiful car.. You did a really nice job, as usual, and I love the color you chose for it.
Thanks Hisham!

Thank you!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Your welcome😀
At this point you should get yourself some 1/24 1/25 scale figures and have a car show. Also have you thought about doing any dioramas?
I've done some but I try to stick to the kits since these are reviews of what can be done with the parts in the box.
Another great build, like it alot
Thanks man!

Beautiful work!
Thanks man!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Beautiful build. To make the headlights look real, wouldn't putting mudpudge on them make it look like they have glass in them once it dry?
Hmm, I could, nice idea.
That thick of a layer may take some time to dry. I'll try to remember that and try it out!
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Love your vids and your attitude towards building. Keep it going.
Thanks!

I'd like to see a cottage industries co. make a few 1/24-25th scale figurines of Jay Leno. 1 standing and 1 in a seated position. That would be cool. Love Jay. Easy going guy even b4 he became wealthy. Maybe a Jeff Dunham with Walter,Bubba J , Achmed, Peanut, Jose on a steek AND SWEET Daddy D !
Man dude that looks awesome

That’s exactly what I have
Precioso trabajo,enhorabuena
I had a bout a 64 chevy wagon with sraight axles in 1986. Was really nice. Any ideas? What it was? The axles were steel.
Beautiful work mate, who says you can't build a nice model from those old 60s kits.....oh yeah the same old whiners...lol
Thanks Gary, always appreciate your support!
For once I would like for a kit manufacturer to include a 40"-50" 4k retina display flat screen t.v. with the modern and restomod custom classic vehicle kits.
LOL
