      They must have been custom made for the cops because the P226 is officially chambered in 9mm.

    I own multiple P226s that my agency sold off after we transitioned to Glock. These are the old school internal extractor versions. They are absolutely fantastic guns. Not one failure from any of them. I sent one back to Sig for a tear down and added SRT, night sights, E2 grip, and refinish. I bought another one that was never issued NIB with agency name on the side. Cost? 278 bucks! Eat your hearts out!

    Seriously one of the best pistols in our collection which includes a SIG P220, Beretta 92S, 92FS, G19, G26, HK USP .40, HK P2000 V2 LEM .40, HK P30SK 9mm. The P2000 and P226 DAK are my favorites, I think I'm a double-action gal at heart.

    Nice to see you back and great review. The 226 is an awesome pistol and DAK makes it even better.
    At one time I had a 226, 220 and 239 that were all DAK. Love the trigger. Police trade ins are usually all great.

    Carried the DAK P226 for about 10 years then we went to the M&P. 45. My SIG was in fantastic shape when I turned in. At that price thats a freakin steal! Never had an issue with it. Always shot well with it. Good for you.

    Hello im glad with how in depth your review went into this piece, i sold my favorite glock 23 sub compact a few years back and had been in the market for another gun chambered in .40 as i can't get over the smaller capacity from .45 and picked this gun up for a great deal. Mid pandemic when most glocks are easily running over $600 USED i highly appreciate this gun and its mighty quality and affordability at any point in the market.

    I bought this hand gun several years ago, I reside in California, hence it makes it difficult acquiring this even more. I really enjoy shooting this handgun because it improves my shooting accuracy because focuses on smooth trigger squeeze so to hit the target accurate. Great review and have enjoyed your content over the years.

    sootch00, posting from the UK, you guy's are so lucky to live in the US. I'm a firearms user/owner and I weep when I watch video's such as yours. I have had my shotgun and firearms certificates since I was in my late teens (I'am now 65) and I can remember when we could have semi auto centre fire rifles and handguns.........but no more! We've had two aberrations during that time, the Hungerford massacre in 87 which caused the demise of the rifles and the Dunblane massacre of 96 which caused the demise of our handguns both were disasters for those caught up in them and for those like me who had to suck the mop afterwards. Because all of our (legally owned) weapons are registered to us as individuals, when a ban comes along there are no grandfather rights here and no exceptions, all civilian owned prohibited weapons must be handed in under threat of a police swat raid. We were given a final date for surrender to a designated police station in our locality. I remember with absolute despair arriving at the police station to hand in my two pistols in 1997, neither were particularly fancy, one was a S&W model 40 target pistol in 22lr calibre the other a Taurus PT99AF 9mm pistol, the latter I had owned for 9yrs and was in immaculate condition. They along with everyone else's were to be destroyed, I was mortified by the prospect but could do nothing about it. I will never ever forgive our "government" for their virtue signalling BS at our expense.
    The purpose of my waffle is to ask all you US shooters to collectively join a shooting organisation that protects your rights, always fight registration, personally I don't have a problem with background checks and stick together no matter what your shooting discipline may be when any new anti gun laws are in the offing. The anti's will always try to divide and conquer to achieve their aims and finally do not get complacent just because you have a pro gun President, they are just a cog in a huge government mechanism.

      @Prometheus203 6 лет назад +2

      The difference between you and us is that they will have to come, and in most places if they dare they won't make it to the neighbors house. Your police couldn't have fought you all, you and your fellow countryman should have told them to eat shit.

    • @raymondmajer8748
      @raymondmajer8748 6 лет назад +4

      Mark C. There are stark differences between the US and the UK regarding firearms ownership and law, we don't have a 2nd amendment (sadly) we don't have a right only a "privilege" which can be withdrawn at any time. We are a tiny minority within the population, most UK citizens have never held a firearm of any description and would recoil in horror at the mere mention of the word such is the paranoia in this dumbed down country.
      Your 2nd amendment gives you legal recourse to fight any anti gun legislation we do not. Unfortunately that is how it is here, believe me when I say that I'm sick to the back teeth with it.

      You should have protested and thrown out every Politician that even whispered gun restriction . Stand up for yourself. We will riot if the Gov even thinks about taking our right to defend our selves. I carry a gun every where I go even to work. The USA will not come to your rescue when the terrorist take over your country. We should have let the Germany taken over the UK. You would have been better off.

    I love the .40 and love the Sig even more. No criticism to 9mm - I own some - but I really hate seeing LE dumping the .40. I heard all the arguments for the rationale on why they are, but I have a feeling the .40 will make a come back in a few years. I might be wrong. Time will tell.

    • @jordanaug81

    • @clamum
      @clamum 6 лет назад +3

      I don't think it will. With modern ammo, the difference between 9mm and .40 cal is negligable, IMO. It's gonna matter wayyyyy more WHERE you shoot someone than if you used 9mm or .40. But I could be wrong about the come back, who knows.

      @grantorino2009 5 лет назад +5

      2016, I agree with you. I carry a G19 with HST +P 9mm, but the .40 is a great cartridge. I think one of the dirty little secrets about the LE move away from .40 to 9mm lies in current hiring practices. Some "folks" just can't shoot the .40 well for non-PC reasons, but in order to meet federal hiring guidelines, agencies have to "lower" their standards with handguns that recoil less.

    • @mongojoe21
      @mongojoe21 4 года назад +1

      grantorino2009 I have the DA/SA version of this in .40 and I don’t think the recoil is all that much worse then a 9mm, maybe a little “snappier”. My fiancée shot it just fine once I showed her how to hold it with a proper grip

    That is a nice pistol. I bought an old .357 229 back in 2004 from my best friend who was a sheriff's deputy. The blue box even said "Law Enforcement" on it. I think it came from his brother's agency that was getting ready to trade it in. I ended up keeping that gun around for like 12 years. I just ran into hard times and was living in my van to save money. I ended up selling it back to my friend for what I paid for it. I even gave him like 5 boxes of Ranger SXT to go with it since I wasn't planning on getting another .357 Sig. The ammo is just too expensive and not as common as I'd like. I've missed that gun so much, but I really think I could be happy with one of those 9mm 226 pistols. My friend had one back in the day and he was IN LOVE with it. Putting a few dollars aside. Maybe some day.

      Sootch I live on a low SSI disability income ( $735.00 a month ) so I had to make a few compromises when I built my AR-15A1. I could not afford an actual A1 upper receiver as they were close to $200.00. I went with an Anderson flat top upper I bought locally for $65.00 and I bought a AR carry handle online for about $20.00.
      I would like to eventually switch to an actual AR--15A1 upper someday. Do you know any place I can get one for a good deal? I think Brownells had them for $150.00 but they seem to always be out of stock on them.
      Here are some pics of the build. Oh after I took these pics I switched to an actual suplus M-16A1 butt stock.Numrich has them for about $24.00.

    I got a P226 DA/SA in 9mm a while ago that the gun store said was a police trade-in. It cost me $400. It had a lot of surface wear on the slide, but some cold bluing took care of that, and it's in good shape internally. Carry often, shoot rarely makes for good deals.

    I have a P239 in DAK. GREAT gun. No issues with DAK. I shoot revolvers in DA and also my 380's are also in DA. I like the safety factor of the DA pistol. Probably gonna look for a P229 in DAK. As far as ammo, I've been catching free shipping day at Midway and getting it just about the same as I pay for 9mm. I had once gotten out of 40 but I got lured back in with some trading and some pistols that were cheap just because they were 40 caliber.. I guess that's the way it is!

    I picked up a used P229 in .40 several years ago and it is my best shooting pistol! It was a bit rough and no case and cost $400. I dropped an SRT in it and it is really sweet! Hey Sootch, had an interesting experience today. A guy came by and wanted to trade me his SIG P226 .40 S&W with rail, night sights (still good) and four factory magazines along with a box of Winchester FMJ ammo. This one is in pretty good shape and is a traditional DA/SA model.
    The best part was that he wanted to trade even for a used RIA GI .45 ACP. I thought he had lost his mind but he just wanted a 1911. He said he just got this SIG at AIM Surplus. It came in a blue LE box. Maybe they got some more in, don't know. But I'm happy to have mine. .357 SIG barrel is on the way!

  • @wfrentzel7503

    You can get a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel for the Sig without changing the slide from EFKfiredragon.com just like you can for the Glock 22. This conversion barrel is specially fitted to the .40 slide. You can also get a .357 sig barrel from them with no modifications required.

Some of the Sig's had no coating left just stainless steel and aluminum but always went bang and we're accurate!

    Managed to pick one up from my LGS, paid $450 after tax, so price went up a bit. But I've always been in love with this gun ever since I played Battlefield 4 and shot one in Europe. So I'm quite happy with my purchase, it's a beautiful gun, 9mm too. Definitely takes a bit of training to get used to that DAK trigger, first shots I was really thrown off because of how far back the trigger pull is

    FYI I ordered the E2 grips (Fell in love with them with the P220) and also the Masterwork grips, if you can find 'em, are fantastic. I can't stress enough how happy I am to have this (I had an SP2022 and P220 but Im happier with the 226, even though I miss the P220 but not enough to give up my HK P2000 LEM!)
    I am curious as to if the LEM/DAK combo I now have will have one improve the other.

    Good price. I bought yhe SIG 226 earlier this year in .40 cal DAK trigger. Police trade in $416 from CDNN. Like new, made in Germany with tritium sights.. I put Hogue synthetic stocks on it. Very nice pistol. A bit large for CCW. Being used to single action, the trigger was a bit strange to me. (My concealed is a Springfield 1911 compact commander length slide and officer's size aluminum receiver,.)
    Seal teams love this gun.

    I got into .40 caliber during the last ammo shortage as well and I prefer it for self defense. I have adopted the philosophy of buy a 40 then get conversion barrels for 9mm.

    • @2Aknight762
      @2Aknight762 6 лет назад

      I bought the caliber conversion kit from 9mm up to .40/357 sig which requires a new slide. I am sure there are barrel conversions for Sigs. Stormlake works good in my S&W M&P 40 long slide to 9mm.

    Police Trade in Sigs are a Great Way to purchase a Top Quality Sig Pistol for about a third of the price of a new one. I purchased a Sig P229 in 357Sig and paid less than 450 dollars for it in Like New Condition. The pistol came in the Blue Sig plastic case with all the paperwork. The frame had one little scratch by the trigger guard more than likely from holstering and some holster wear in the front of the slide but the everything else was perfect. I ordered a Sig P229 parts kit from Brownells that runs 30 dollars and is available from all Sig Sauer Pistols. The kit includes all the normal consumable springs plus a new set of Grip Screws. I also put the short trigger on my P229. I also own a 40sw/357 Sig P226 E square model that I purchased BNIB and paid almost 1100 dollars for. I like having the capability of having a P226 and P229 both with the 40SW and 357 SIg barrels that way I can share mags as long as I am running the same caliber on both pistols at the same time and that is something I so allot just like with my Glock 22,23,24,35 and G31. I also own both barrels 40/357 in my Glocks.
    CDNN carries both the SIg Brand and Mec-Gar mags on sale all the time as well as used mags. I have been able to get the Extreme P226 40/357 12rd used mags for less than 20 dollars in Very Good Condition and I use them for Training Classes and Range use. I use the Mec-Gar 13rd flush for my carry plus 2 of the 15rd for my conceal carry double mag holder. I do like to swap out the springs in the used mags and I replace them with Wolff's Springs plus 5% springs. Sig Sauer webstore had a big same this past November they were selling the Extreme mags Brand NEw for 10 dollars on clearance keep an eye on the Sig Webstore they have CRAZY sales.

    Picked one up and I hate to say it but I may like it more than my P2000 V2 LEM. Is the DAK SRT special or a normal function? I find the SRT function amazing, as crisp as almost any 1911 ive felt, just a tad hefty but not unmanagable, and yes far out but still, crisp as all hell.
    The LEM and DAK triggers are misunderstood by a lot of folks (whether you love or hate it) myself included, but I'm learning. I think the concepts behind both are great for a carry/combat/duty weapon. Even good for tactical courses and training, especially that really.

  • @Jojo69869

    Doesn't sig use the same barrel blank and just cut for caliber? I've always heard they wont say you can convert barrel because they want you to buy the exchange kit.
