1. Resellers tryna gaslight the market audience so that they can leverage themselves which is just pointless considering the price differences.

Resellers are one of the main reasons people have to wear fakes. They tax people so hard it's insane. Back in the 90's pretty much everyone got shoes if they wanted to, from a regular shoe store.

Chicago 1s for example. A basic white and red Jordan 1, great casual shoe that goes with a lot. Huge demand for a sneaker like that, but Nike isn't meeting that demand. So, if someone is set on getting that shoe, they have two options. They can buy it from a reseller at a massively increased price, or they can get something else as you said. Reps are that something else for a lot of people who just like the shoe.
If Nike won't sell them the shoe, then they won't be buying the Nike shoe.

I have a fake pair of Yeezy’s that are now 8 years old. I just cleaned them up and they still look brand new. I literally beat the living hell out of them and they won’t die. The most bullproof pair of sneakers I own. Definitely outlasted all my real sneakers that old.
I recently bought some Yeezys from a guy that was selling them in the flea market,one of them you can easily tell are fake because of the SPLY=SPLV but the other pair you can pass as real and I like how comfortable they are I bought them 10xs less than what 1 original pair cost but not a lot of people care what you wear nowadays only the resellers and or sneaker heads the rest of the world have better things to do than to pay attention to what you wear
It’s not necessarily trying to be somebody that you aren’t. Some people just want to get away with spending money on something that shouldn’t even cost that much (fashion wise).

My biggest preference for fakes is simply because of how cheaper they are. Even with this fact, I still rarely even buy fake shoes and jerseys having only done it in a total of 6 times. It was always the thought of having that look I wanted with the shoes which make me appreciate having fakes instead for the benefit of my allowance or my parents if they're the ones who buy it.
*edit*: I only focus on the thought of why they bought these fakes for me, and any gift they give me is never worthless. I don't even ask my parents to buy me anything anymore, I just do my best in school to make them happy so that I make sure the money they spent for my wants are paid off by my hard work.
Even if the sneaker they bought for me is fake, the love and thoughtfulness they put into spending that money to buy me makes it worth more than any legit sneaker worth over a billion dollars.
Plus, I actually prefer window shopping more than actual shopping, to the point where I try to learn prices of objects and calculate an imaginary budget. When I said "preference for fakes", its cause I like window shopping through this big ass market selling them nearby. Since I live pretty far from where those big shopping malls and outlets can be found, I like spending my time looking at all the fakes at that market and counting how much each would cost.
So sue me, but I have a soft spots for fakes.

I honestly do agree, I don't see a reason for buying reps at all. If I don't score the shoe I like on release then I just get another pair or try again next time. There are also other brands than Jordan and Yeezy out there, just saying. If you get a fake shoe then you are most certainly trying to associate yourself with that 'brand', there is no way around that.

The only opinion that matters about which sneaker you wear is your own, as long as you're honest.
I think it's a mix between "not trying to get bullied for wearing cheap brands" and not being able to afford the expensive ones.
You can get the real brands without breaking the bank. I just bought brand new Pumas for 30 bucks at Ross. A few months ago I bought slightly used Air forces near perfect condition for 25 bucks at a flea market. So what if it's not a super limited edition sneaker that only whoever is famous wore.

When you buy a sneaker that isn’t on the market, you’re not even taking money from the brand. You’re just not giving it to somebody trying to make extra off a product you couldn’t get.

The only real downsides are that if you don't know exactly what you're after, the appeal of cheap designer/fashionable clothes promotes buying a lot of clothes you don't need, aren't versatile, and will leave you pigeonholed in the typical r/fashionreps flashy style - very easy since those flashy but one note pieces are what's produced the most. Shop smart and versatile, know what style you want, and reps can be a useful tool

Resell culture has made the rep culture stronger. Especially since people dont want to have those shoes not to wear. If you got fakes you can wear them without a care.
