Sometimes making your loved one feel good about themselves is more important than your immediate pleasure. I wish more people felt this way.
For sure! As a kid I would laugh at the obvious jokes, then as a teen I would say "this show is so boring," but as an adult I get a lot more of the humor in the characters' struggles.
@@LindaCooper-i3f Kinda, yeah. Remember the time Hank wanted Bobby to get into reading? Any parent would love for their child to fall in love with books and explore a world of imagination! Good grief! When he asked about it while confronting Buck Strickland over having an electric stove, Buck explained that it came with the house when he bought it years ago.
I never gave this show a chance and I regret being a child when it aired. As an adult everything actually makes sense and darn i wish it was still running
It’s a propane and propane accessories clan because of Hank…… why is he the big boss? If someone wants to cook with charcoal or use an electric stove they are free to. Also ending a marriage based on the usage of charcoal is downright insane!
Bobby: "Maybe no one has ever taken the time to tell dad how much better charcoal really is." Peggy: "It is no contest, the propane burger is much better."
Peggy may have come to her senses, except for taste in her words, however, as a grownup Bobby probably buys a charcoal grill to use whenever Hank’s out of town.
People don't understand how important Peggy's actions and the lesson of this episode are for life. That sometimes people need to be kind to loved ones and make sacrifices of pleasure for the benefit of a relationship. Hank has an incredible passionate belief of propane. If Peggy told him directly that she preferred charcoal, she wouldn't just be telling him, "I prefer this style of food," she would have been saying, "I don't like who you are." It would have deeply hurt Hank's self-image and value as a person. Having long term negative consequences for their relationship. In the modern day the lesson is always, "Don't settle for anything less than perfection." "Always speak your mind" "Put yourself first" etc, but that is just now how human relationships work. Hank is a great father who always is trying to provide for his family and show love with food. Telling Hank you hate his burger would be the same as a husband telling his wife she has an ugly face. Or a wife telling her husband that she wants a taller man. Blunt honesty has a place in situations with heavy stakes, but letting people feel good about their efforts and themselves is so important to a relationship. Because shaming others for who they are (or something they cannot control) is a pain that never ever goes away.
@Onigirli, For starters, that’s Ma’am to you! Secondly, how can an old fashioned figure of speech like ‘Good grief’ be spamming? Especially since it’s been part of the lexicon since Charles Schulz introduced America to the Peanuts Gang.

The little man from the draftboard in the classic 1945 animated short subject picture of “DRAFTEE DAFFY”.
0:08 i love the sound design here
“I’ll just drive this to the dump right NOW….” 😂
And someone else salvages it for themselves in the process while the burgers 🍔 that Hank cooked with charcoal are consumed by the rats 🐀 at the dump.
@@LindaCooper-i3fHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! What a twist.
i feel like this show got more funnier with me ageing. i can appreciate it more now.
Likewise.
For sure! As a kid I would laugh at the obvious jokes, then as a teen I would say "this show is so boring," but as an adult I get a lot more of the humor in the characters' struggles.
How about if Buck Strickland got the music group calling itself The Great Space Coaster to perform live at Sugarfoot’s Barbecue?
1:15 I'm hearing this out of context and really struggling to come up with meanings lol
Hank: “Hello, Walter. Maude. Vivian. Arthur. Glad that you could make it to my barbecue.”
3:31 Seems kind of wasteful that Peggy trashed the charcoal cooked burgers. I would've served them up along with the propane burgers.
So basically in other words, find a poverty stricken family that would eat them to keep them out of the trash?
3:52 SAVAGE!
Only if you count Lenore leaving Bill for Buck Strickland after terminal cancer puts Miz Liz to rest in the Armstrong plot at the Arlen Cemetery.
wtf are you on about hommie
@ShinzoX90 yeah I can't make heads or tails of it either
Hank likes charcoal burgers in the episode where he meets Kahn.
Kahn used Mesquite Coals. Which is different from charcoal.
@@APG19912009there is no such thing is mesquite coal, it is mesquite charcoal
Kahn was using plain old fashioned Mesquite wood 🪵, and that’s no lie!
Don’t you mean Mesquite wood chips and sawdust blended in with the formula at the charcoal factory?
1:57
It’s like being cheated except with objects
Depends on the circumstances of the outcome.
Honestly, propane just kinda beats the purpose of outdoor cooking.
Burns clean i tell ya what
Pretty sad that Hanks "My-way-or-the-high-way" attitude keeps him closed minded.
It’s not a matter of being close-minded, it’s a matter of both pride and principles.
@@LindaCooper-i3f Same difference. It's thanks to that misguided pride that keeps him from seeing things from a different perspective.
And do you also assume that his principles are misguided as well?
@@LindaCooper-i3f Kinda, yeah. Remember the time Hank wanted Bobby to get into reading? Any parent would love for their child to fall in love with books and explore a world of imagination! Ya know, like books are SUPPOSED TO do for kids?! But oh no, that's not good enough for Hank! For him, it has to be books about adventures with a boy and his Dad or some crap about fixing stuff. Yet when Bobby bought a fantasy adventure book and got into it, and mind you it had no pictures, Hank threw it away! And all because "damn anything else that doesn't fit the standards of Hank"! 😑
You have just described Hank as being like Drew Pickles on “RUGRATS” in the nightmare sequence in the episode of “PICKLES VS. PICKLES” when he says, “I just wanted my daughter to eat broccoli 🥦! I was only being a good father!”
I like how everyone just surrounds them in silence as they all know by now this is a serious moment for Hank
Hank doesn't approve of charcoal grills, electric powered grills, wood smokers, open barbacue bits, and other methods of preparing grilled meats.
However, he’ll most likely consume the meat cooked with such methods if attending someone else’s barbecue.
I disagree with the part about wood smokers considering that he used it before. And used wood again in a campfire.
Small but overlooked detail is that when Hank eats at steakhouses, many definitely don't cook with propane.
"You ran out of burgers." Plate of burgers behind them...
Good grief!
I love how Peggy and Bobby automatically become ride or die as if they accidentally killed someone together.
Sorry to break it to you Hank, but charcoal is better than propane.
Only in Kentucky.
Shut your mouth 😅
"Shut your mouth!"
Most Kentuckians still use charcoal for grilling.
@@LindaCooper-i3fi don’t think it necessarily matters where in us. Where I am it’s just a matter of preference or convenience. It’s not odd to see either or both at someone house where I am.
I don’t think Hank even likes gas stoves. He just loves propane because of Buck acting like a father figure to replace cotton so he feels like he has to use it every chance he gets. He was so upset when he heard Buck had an electric stove in his home.
Good grief!
When he asked about it while confronting Buck Strickland over having an electric stove, Buck explained that it came with the house when he bought it years ago.
"Now, we are going to sit here and pray." Ah yes. Because using charcoal is not The Lord's way...
Propane is okay for barbecuing in Texas, but here in Kentucky, we’ll just stick with the charcoal.
Don't you go blaspheming against God now!
I never gave this show a chance and I regret being a child when it aired. As an adult everything actually makes sense and darn i wish it was still running
Ngl, I was also horrified to learn Luanne used charcoal. Dang it Luanne, your clan is propane and propane accessories clan only!
She's not a Hill she's a Platter. Two different families. Which is why Hank gives no $#!+$ about Luanne
@@migiplayz91 luanne is a Kleinschmidt now. And her daughter is a lasagna
It’s a propane and propane accessories clan because of Hank…… why is he the big boss? If someone wants to cook with charcoal or use an electric stove they are free to.
Also ending a marriage based on the usage of charcoal is downright insane!
@@carson11100 (cracks knuckles) sound like we got a charky user here!
But remember that Peggy is Luanne’s maternal aunt just like Hank is a maternal uncle by marriage.
Dude bought an entire charcoal grill just to prove a point
Bobby: "Maybe no one has ever taken the time to tell dad how much better charcoal really is."
Peggy: "It is no contest, the propane burger is much better."
Peggy may have come to her senses, except for taste in her words, however, as a grownup Bobby probably buys a charcoal grill to use whenever Hank’s out of town.
"If this is food, what have we been eating?"
Charcoal is king for flavor . Propane especially the modern IR grills are just about like baking the food in the oven it adds nothing
Wood over charcoal, charcoal over propane
@@simonkoeman3310 yea i forgot about wood , you need a really nice heavy grill for that
Mesquite gives meat nice taste of wood.
Charcoal for flavor, propane for convenience.
How bout you learn to make a sauce, or marinade
“Shut your mouth”

Exactly.

Eh?
"Peggy, something's come up that I'm not too proud of..." "Okay, so what I did to the governor with...my bottom was wrong. I hope you can forgive me."
Who else thinks Hank tried to cook the charcoal burgers bad on purpose?
Address the question to Sergeant Schultz of “HOGAN’S HEROES”, and shout it loud because he is obviously with Colonels Hogan and Klink in Forest Lawn.
@@LindaCooper-i3f Are you the same guy spamming "Good grief" in a lot of the comments? Cut it out
@Onigirli,
For starters, that’s Ma’am to you!
Secondly, how can an old fashioned figure of speech like ‘Good grief’ be spamming? Especially since it’s been part of the lexicon since Charles Schulz introduced America to the Peanuts Gang.
The biggest disappointment for Hank would be if Bobby becomes a charcoal and charcoal accessories sales men
Luanne looks so good in that red outfit.
When doesn’t she look good?
It’s just a B-I-K-I-N-I.
How about just after the explosion at the Mega-Lo Mart that got their license to sell propane and propane accessories revoked by the state fire Marshal and their insurance provider?
True!
Hank is usually the one with common sense and reason but these episodes if him being odd are hilarious.
For starters, he didn’t get a free barbecue grill with the purchase of a 100LB bag of charcoal from Mega-Lo Mart.
Now you two are gonna eat the whole bag
Good grief.
A bag of carbon monoxide? Hard pass.
I love how Bobby is distraught at Luanne using charcoal but still goes for a bite of his burger as he runs away lmfao
To be honest honestly I can't say I really had many burgers cooked on a grill but I am generally curious if one is better.
Interesting perspective.
Sometimes Hank is the hero, sometimes he's the villain.
Charcoal for food. Propane for heat.
Possibly.
I agree with you
🪵: nah I'd win bro lulz
When you try a new method of cooking and it’s like rediscovering food again but man Hank I feel like propane is his drug 😂
@Commander6727,
Great Caesar’s Ghost!
luanne would make a lot of tips in that get up haha
If employed at Hooter’s.
True
Hank might want to verify what was used when Bobby killed the 4.5 lb revenge steak...
Peggy is so ride or die 😂
At times.
@@LindaCooper-i3f Pretty much always (except for like 3 or 4 notable times). It’s the greatest thing about their relationship.
Apparently possible.
never realized how funny of a word propane is
Good grief.
Everyone else: Propane vs. Charcoal.
Me: * Laughs in mesquite.
Odge Botkins.
I see you have good sense in using the proper fuel for grilling and smoking meats, wood. Mesquite is a good choice, but have you ever used Applewood or pecan or hickory?
Mr. Kahn grills with Mesquite, and Hank said Kahn’s burgers were the best he ever had.
Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating on King of The Hill because I personally prefer charcoal
Bobby Hill grew up to be a nascar driver & he is hiding under the name Austin Hill.
Actually, he’s an owner-operator.
Meaning, that he’s a self-employed driver of a semi truck?!
So what if he only earns a $1.50 a mile?
The income is supplemented by the private music lessons given by Connie with her Masters Degree from Juilliard?!
@blacklisterd,
Why should Bobby be in a dangerous profession like NASCAR?
Why can’t he be scratching out a living by hauling cargoes for $1.50 a mile as the self-employed driver of a 1975 Kenworth K100 cabover?
Arlen-Austin Express might as well be his handle on the CB (citizens band) radio for all we know?!
Why are you so determined to make him a NASCAR racer instead of being a self-employed driver of a semi truck?
Didn't Bobby almost get run over by race cars because of Jimmy wichard's unruly demands resulting in Hank kicking his ass? Just a thought is all.
"Charcoal or me" is brutal
If I want rich, smoky flavor, I'll smoke something.
Yeah, Bobby was wrong for that one. I don't get why he made a spiteful remark towards his dad.
"I thought it was drugs!" 😂😂😂😂
"I thought it was drugs!"
I love how Peggy thinks that's an improvement over charcoal; as far as Hank is concerned, they're one and the same.
A lousy excuse if any.
my favorite part of the episode was when hank sniffed them and asked "Have you been Charcing again?"
