I live in North Carolina, where Bojangles came from. I am totally not surprised. The turnover at the restaurants is unreal. Never the same employees twice. And the food has really gone downhill in the last few years. I'm surprised more stores aren't closing.
I’ve noticed a slight dip in quality in the Goldsboro and Smithfield area Bojangles locations, but nowhere near as severe of a dropoff in quality as I’ve noticed from KFC and especially Popeyes. Funny how Bojangles gets the wins, profits when everything is going great and when things aren’t….(those were franchises) aka we don’t take any blame when things go bad only good.
I have always liked Bojangles from North Carolina days. Most important of all, I hope the employees in Maryland receive the money owed to them and the franchise owners correct this issue. I always stopped at the Upper Marlboro location whenever I was in the area and always had great customer service and food.
we don’t know her full situation. sometimes it’s harder to leave and find another job and interview, then wait to hear back. even after that point you still have to start training and wait until your checks do start.
It's interesting if the employee stole money from the restaurant that's an instant arrest and go to jailed. But when the company steal money from the employee, there's certain things that have to be done to correct the situation? 🤔
I've noticed Bojangles has a habit of expanding their base, then closing stores. It has happened several times in the last 20 years or so. Maybe the problem is poor upper management. It's a shame because their product is all right.
Bojangles current CEO said in June 2023 that they'd "like to get out of the chicken business". Every move that I've seen them make feels to me like they're trying to be Chick-Fil-A. If I wanted Chick-Fil-A, I'd go to Chick-Fil-A. I go to Bojangles when I want Bojangles. Bojangles has a CEO issue.

It is becoming too expensive to eat out. We cook at home six days a week. We take turns whipping up a good meal. We've found several good places to eat out. Like a fairly expensive Italian place, but they have two for one Mon-Wed. We told them we couldn't pay their normal price, but they were happy to have us on slow days. How much can a plate of pasta with a sprinkle of chicken and a side salad cost to make? At the most $4. We also get an annual coupon book.
So Bo Jangles doesnt care that employees were left high and dry becuaee its a franchise. So corp takes money but isnt there for employees. No more eating there when I travel to where they are
Not defending anyone, but chances are the franchise owner was hiding or fudging his financials from Corp. otherwise they would have stepped in and took over before it got to this point.
This is a lesson that when pay problems start, that's the time to search for a new job asap. Otherwise, one could be working for free. Also, don't expect authorities to help much. One would think not paying employees would be considered criminal, but it's often not. Civil penalties may be limited to backpay owed. Employees shouldn't figure on anything extra. It's a very unfair system. On top of that, they're not employees of Bojangles, but rather the franchise. Another loophole many franchises use to take advantage of workers and avoid liability.
MANNN let me tell you about this particular Bojangles! I’ve lived right up the street from it for 3 years now and I have TRIED to try that restaurant about 6-7 times and I have NEVER successfully gotten food. Every time I go through the drive thru, it don’t matter if it was one car ahead of me or five, the wait was always UNBEARABLE. I’m talking I waited 25-30 minutes one time! And then all of a sudden they just randomly closed, no notice no nothing. This explains a lot!
1:26 how dare they say that to an employee that’s so disrespectful and unprofessional she should sue for harassment due to that hostile behavior. I hope she can find better employment elsewhere 😢
How do you even end up with thousands in back pay owed to you? Twice now I have been shorted at two different jobs and both times I went into the office the very next day and told the manager I was not starting my shift nor going anywhere until the problem was solved. Neither boss was happy about me asserting myself in such a way but it got settled right then and there.
Both stores owned by the same franchisee. That's the only reason they're ALLOWED to transfer stock between stores. Moving didn't change a thing for you.
@@The2ndFirst And then, at the end of the year, the franchise owner uses it as an excuse to not give the manager their "Proper food planning bonus." Because he couldn't be assed send the orders in to the warehouses. No, I've NEVER worked Fast Food before. Yeah, that's the ticket.

The Labor Department has no authority to force the employer to pay employees. I was part of the largest case in upstate NY and the owner of 10 businesses owed employees over 13 million dollars and they " fined " him but they can't make him pay. We were told we would receive all owed pay and interest, but not a single one received a dime. He still owes all of us and still owns the businesses 30 years later and still cheats employees. The Labor Department should be called the Employer Department
That's common. Much of the franchising business model relies on shifting responsibility and liability to others. Not just in the food business, but across many industries.
A highly competitive industry, perhaps there are just too many resturants of every type. Here in North Carolina the local Bojangles have great food and at least appear to be well ran.
Bojangles recently opened franchises in parts of Texas, offering a condensed menu of tenders, chicken sandwiches, and breakfast. There's one near me in the Fort Worth suburb, Euless. I'm surprised that corporate is ghosting this Maryland franchise owner's former employees. Corporate should be assisting them in getting pay they're owed, and answers.
"I didn't have enough common sense to leave a job that didn't pay me." If you're not getting paid, you're not an employee. You're a SLAVE. Years ago, I was a delivery driver for a Domino's franchise that mismanaged its money. The first time my paycheck bounced, I was given cash. The second time...I came in the next day, and made all my deliveries. When I got back, the manager avoided my gaze, so my path forward was clear. I had roughly the amount of my pay in cash. I put my sign on a table, walked over to the manager, held up the money and said, "I'm keeping this." No response. I put the money in my pocket and walked out, never to return. If they had said anything to me, I was calling the cops. Please stand up for yourselves, fellow workers.

When a company is in financial trouble wages should remain THE top priority, Rob Peter to pay Paul all you want, pay off one vendor and shaft another it happens but when wages come into the picture you need to close shop BEFORE shorting your workers.
So if you are working at this wage level, how do let the "owed" wages build up to $5000? Makes no sense, two short checks I am gone, every fast food joint is hiring. Stop looking for a pay out, they owe some funds, but come on girl no one is going to let it build that much. Drama and lies. So if there’s a Problem with your Paycheck you should call the Police? When did the Police department turn into a Accounting, Audit and Collections Business?
some people open restaurants NOT to make money from the restaurants themselves... if fact, they can make LOTS more money by having it open only for a year or two, then closing them suddenly. the loophole is huge.
Funny how the owner disappears and can't be reached. That shows how crooked he is right there. Hopefully criminal charges be filed on the owner for fraud.

It’s makes a lot of sense. The employees at the location in New Carrollton would come to the store intercom and announce what was not in stock and they would mention that they had to go to the grocery store in the same shopping center for supplies. I live in North Carolina, where Bojangles came from. I am totally not surprised. The turnover at the restaurants is unreal. Never the same employees twice. And the food has really gone downhill in the last few years. I'm surprised more stores aren't closing.
