Sadly, that's not too far off the truth. Years is common. Also, as another mentioned, likely no interest either. Just the backpay owed. Assuming the franchise ever pays. Often franchises are shell companies with minimal assets even in the best of times.

Yes but if it's franchises go bankrupt with stores. Means they might not get anything. There need laws that says u go bankrupt all ur bills and money to pay people. Is consolidated you need pay no matter what. REMEMBER ITS A FRANCHISE RESTAURANT NO BO JANGLES. THAT MEANS THEY PUT SIGN UP AND PROVIDE PRODUCT. Owners r responsible for hiring and paying vendors and employees. So for example if he owns 7 stores he owes 2 million on all the buildings plus a million on employees vendors. After sale he should have to pay what is left. Just like people u go bankrupt other than medical every needs consolidated. Plus banks need know what u wrote off. Example I heard a guy spent like 30000 on like tv computer goes bankrupt. Then in a year banks give more CC out we'll say 20000 goes bankrupt after the 7 yrs. This shouldnt happen plus to get help why u loss job wife has cancer bills piling up. When u use CC for stupid stuff. There is difference. This was example or close to it guy went bankrupt 3 times so he didn't have to pay CC. The point is I don't care if ur mom and pop restaurant or Amazon. Everything is consolidated. Some people like I guess trump for example goes bankrupt don't pay people then banks loan more money.

@@MrBadjohn69 gov don't have laws that need be there if a franchise owns five stores net worth of three million. They should pay out of own pocket. Don't care what it's worth quit allowing bankruptcy for people or business. To not pay everything. U consolidate and pay. All employees and companies u own money. Some restaurants go bankrupt. Year later start another business. WHY SHOULD THIS BE ALLOWED. ESPECIALLY IF U Didn't PAY FIRST DEBT. EXAMPLE a person over does CC and all that for stupid reason. If u go bankrupt and all money is cleared banks will give person more CC maybe loans car house. To go bankrupt again. Don't get me wrong if ur family has serious medical problems like cancer. Yes on medical debt maybe if only income father lost job he had cancer yes. If ur overspending because u want new technology. Like on guy 3 times got CC spent 10s thousands then bankrupt all three times with over spending on technology. How bout this like paying off school loans. Gov let's u go bankrupt or pay off. NO VOTING NO CC NO LOANS 20YRS. Especially loans u can't pay why give u more loans. Let say u go to school write a book. U think living off gov til u have best seller. The degree ur getting unless great pay over min wAge. U chose school pay for it. If u don't pay home loans u lose it. College part this includes everyone on loan. How bout laws kids needs job if they want loan. Don't blame gov for ur choices. Like Biden wants to go by what u make. So one person makes 10 hr gets 150 payment 15 hr gets 250 payment. Then after 10yrs. Same loan same school and degree. That's discrimination and hate crime racism. Democrats r only helping women minorities mainly. Simple no more pay off after so many years. IF U MAKE ALL PAYMENT 0% TILL OUT OF SCHOOL, THEN 3% AFTER. U MISS 3% DURING 8% AFTER. PLUS ANYONE DOES EXTRA WORK IN FIELD AFTER 10yrs. Gets 20% off entire bill. For example if a lady on fixed income welfare no job during COVD got rent help free. Know reason that money couldn't pay students loans down. If same with 100 wk job lost she made 450 instead of 50 plus rent 600 gov pays. WHY THE HELL WASNT THEY PUTTING TOWARDS LOANS. EXTRA 1000 MO. THE GOV SAYS U DONT. TO ME UR ON FIXED INCOME NO JOB U GOT EVEN DURING COVD NO PAYMENT KICKED OUT. UR ON WELFARE NO TAXES FOOD STAMPS AFFORDABLE HOUSING PLUS FREE INSURANCE. U WASNT HURT BY COVD. AGAIN WOMEN MINORITIES. RACISM AND HATE CRIMES. THEN BIDEN WANTS TO GIVE LOWER PAYMENTS TO THEM. EQUALITY U WANT EQUAL TO MAN OR WHITE. BLACKS WHINE SAME AS WOMEN. THEN STEP UP. U NEED MAKE EQUAL PAYMENTS LIKE THEM. TAKE CARE OF UR KIDS LIKE A MAN SHOULD. MEANS NO GOV HELP

Your comment is VERY close to what happened here. My mom was a BP Gas Station franchise owner. They have vetting and an approval process where the people who approve are also franchise owners in the area along with business reps for the BP company. Here is the thing, if people on that board are shady, more than likely they will approve like minded individuals. So yea.....I am willing to bet they are selling their franchises to people with questionable and unethical backgrounds.

I feel sorry for this employee, but I’m confused, most businesses pay at least once every two weeks. How can they owe her over $5,000? 0:50. Did they not pay her for a couple of months? I can see the business shutting down overnight, and haven’t paid the last payroll, & disappearing. She hasn’t been paid in a couple months. If that’s the case, as a fast food employees I would be quitting & leaving, for another fast food place, the first day that paycheck was not there.

Like a fairly expensive Italian place, but they have two for one Mon-Wed. We told them we couldn't pay their normal price, but they were happy to have us on slow days. This is a lesson that when pay problems start, that's the time to search for a new job asap. Otherwise, one could be working for free. Also, don't expect authorities to help much. One would think not paying employees would be considered criminal, but it's often not. Civil penalties may be limited to backpay owed. Employees shouldn't figure on anything extra. It's a very unfair system. On top of that, they're not employees of Bojangles, but rather the franchise. Another loophole many franchises use to take advantage of workers and avoid liability.

It’s makes a lot of sense. The employees at the location in New Carrollton would come to the store intercom and announce what was not in stock and they would mention that they had to go to the grocery store in the same shopping center for supplies. It’s shame 😢I never went back. A business under poor management does care how they treat their employees and customers. I hope they get paid for their labor.

I can't believe he said not to act "gheto" on him. That is blatant racism. I rarely if ever use the word. This time, it's valid. Completely.

You can stiff employees, suppliers, creditors and contractors and get away with it. However, if you don't pay taxes, then you're going to be in serious trouble and could end up in jail.
