There are no versions more uplifting and poignant than this one--including her own later performances of it. She was clearly affected by that moment and captured every feeling and emotion perfectly.
Does not matter what's in the heart of these world leaders. His kingdom is and everlasting kingdom. Every knee SHALL BOW and EVERY tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all to the glory of God the Father.
34And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 36At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellers and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. 37Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
I cant believe this doesnt have at least a million views and likes. This rendition by Denyce Graves is simply beautiful! It never gets old to me. Her voice is heavenly, literally penetrating the soul. Praise God! Bravo!!! Ms. Graves your voice is magnificent!!!
@@sandrafernandez3839 the wives look like they are responding to a sound that is heavenly. His will be done!
I remember watching this live, September 14, 2001, the national memorial service following the attack upon our homeland. I was just stunned and awed by this glorious performance.
I was on vacation in Italy when 9/11 happened. I was scheduled to return from Italy on the Friday after 9/11. Obviously we didn't fly since the Airspace was closed. My wife and I sat the entire day in the Alitalia lounge watching the TV. In the evening the memorial service from the National Cathedral was broadcast. When I heard Ms. Graves sing The Lords Prayer I was profoundly moved. There wasn't a dry eye in the lounge. I still think back in awe of Denyce Graves.
denyce graves is a national treasure. she has a magnificent voice and performed here a beautiful interpretation of this famous hymn. betty ford took note and she asked ms. graves to sing the same hymn at her husband's memorial service, which she did. the other famous interpreter of this hymn was mahalia jackson: different style (gospel) but equally beautiful.
The room filled with famous dignitaries... a few moments later the world does not remember them as this wonderful, beautiful, talented, humble woman demonstrates through God given femininity the beauty of God's example in prayer given to us from the lips of Jesus and put to music by this Angel's voice. I am in tears, overwhelmed, and propelled into heaven... because heaven is more than a place, to us the Christian it is the ultimate destination of all our struggles. Thank You Lord!!!! for this wonderful woman who puts in to song, what Jesus showed us in his simple examples. I am man, mortal, temporary, but for a short moment in your presence with a lovely song... I am humbled, a baby, yes safe and happy... Thanks again wonderful Lord!!!!
Ann Wolken He gave us this peace unworthy or not, his gift because we are his children, and he would not give us a stone, but rather his grace and glory. Peace to you sister!!!
I keep looking this song up, because I'm singing it in a wedding, and I find myself returning to this version. Denyce Graves is one of my favorite classical singers. By far one of my favorite mezzo sopranos (though she's switched to dramatic soprano now. Because she's a beast and she can do that! Ha!)
Lovely, just lovely. Brings tears to my eyes. I watched this live after 9/11. America is bounce back after this pandemic. We need great leaders again, not what we have right now. Leaders who have honor, integrity, wisdom, and basic human decency.
I needed to be inspired tonight, so I came back to this moment. There were no party lines or debate, there was only unity in this moment. The immediate President sitting in the same row as the current President after a controversial election; we really were "one" during those days. One thing I do know: this could not have been "Zoomed" or "live streamed" so beautifully.
This arrangement is very popular by ...Albert Hay Malotte...it is printed in 5keys and also instrumental arrangements....Ms. Graves is absolutely glorious..she is singing it in Medium key of C....I am also a Mezzo...it's a wonderful key and arrangement...one of my favorite songs of all time
I watched Denyce sing this prayer at the service with tears streaming down my cheeks. I have never forgotten its beauty or her stirring voice. Truly a gift from God. 9/11 is coming again soon and I will pray for all those lost, for their families and for our country.
First time I saw this video--it made me cry. The sorrow and sadness. We are still feeling it. HOPE, FAITH and BELIEVE we are all going to make it. BEAUTIFUL VOICE.......MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL and hope for the best.
Absolutely beautiful! What a way to start my day. What a God - given a voice! What a way to give back to the Lord with this rendition. How beautiful to see these world changers take a moment to acknowledge the Lord of lords. Praise be to God who is so merciful and so loving.
I remember watching this on TV. I never heard of her before and I was amazed. I also remember a writer I think it was from time magazine to describer her performance beautifully. She touched a lot of us that day.
I remember seeing this Live. I never heard of her before, but she was elegant flawless incredibly poised What a beautiful sound ennamating from her soul
Also, this is an AMAZING performance, I don't want it to seem like my comment is taking anything away from that. Her voice is so pure, great vibrato, nice full tone. GREAT
I sang here two weeks ago during both morning and evensong services. I kept thinking about how Ms Graves sang here so beautifully ten years before to comfort a nation in mourning and grief. The Cathedral is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places that I have ever been. It made me so sad to learn the Cathedral was damaged in an earthquake today and even more sad when people ignorant about the purpose of this particular cathedral rejoiced in its damage.
Beautiful! No other way to say it. Very spiritualy moving! Dr. Douglas Major at organ did a beautiful job. Thank-You both for the beauty of your music!
I'll never forget 9/11/01! She sent shivers down my spine during this service. Still does today !! I live downtown Portland. Every day is the "morning after " good bye wheeler. Goodbye brown!💀😑😎
Yes, it was sung flawlessly! However, what I got out of this was seeing the sheer awe of every president and their wives moved. You can see their heavy heart .... regardless of your political beliefs, it’s so touching to see the men who were presidents swell up with emotion! So proud of our world leaders and wives to honor the country in solidarity.

"Our" Father- says a lot. He's "Our" father. Puts it all in perspective doesn't? This is by far the most beautiful rendition of the most famous prayer in the world. Ms Graves is superbly talented.
I remember when I saw my first time. This was the National Religious Service of September 11 2001, Denyce Graves sung...absolutley Amazing!!! that sad day.
I remember watching this on the day it all transpired and falling in love with this voice. It is because of Ms. Graves that I study and sing opera. No doubt I owe her a great debt of thanks.
Never in my life has this rendition of A. Malotte's Our Father gotten to me. She did not sing this as if she was performing it, she sang it united with everyone in Penitent reverence to God the father.
She has a beautiful deep voice so lovely ! I heard many times her voice. The song was composed by Albert Hay Malotte in 1935. Yes he was... Most Christian like to The Lord's prayer by faith.
Who is still watching this 2024? Heaven came down this day..
We need this so much now...unity of peace in thought and deed...🙏
Who is still watching this in 2022? She nailed this song, thats all. May God's name be praised...
I love hearing Black opera singers
Thank you Father for ALL your blessings in this life including Denyce Graves! The Lord's Prayer!
There are no versions more uplifting and poignant than this one--including her own later performances of it. She was clearly affected by that moment and captured every feeling and emotion perfectly.
Well said, Tara . This is uplifting, touching and simply beautiful 🙏❤️🙏 - from the beautiful, tranquil Islands of The Bahamas 🏝️🌅🏖️🇧🇸
This is the most beautiful song ever written for the most meaningful prayer ever recited.

Amen! Amen!
So sorry that the camera didn't stay on Ms. Graves the entire time.
Me too. I can’t stand those politicians-both Dems and Repubs.
Wow !! Laura Bush really enjoyed this clearly. Only thing more amazing than the voice is her looks. What a stunning woman.
Enjoyed? I think she and W as well as most others who have a deep Christian faith were moved by it. Graves sings like an angel...

Magnificent in every way. Inspiring at such a time when our country needed it.
This is too beautiful!
I remember being grateful that she did this justice in concept , for that day. She was blessed with remarkable presence .
This is one of my favorite versions of the Lord's Prayer ever!!! Absolutly Beautiful.
GORGEOUS
Denyce Graves is an angel. The best female opera singer ever!

What a wonderful rendition of the Lord`s Prayer. Professional and heart-felt. I love her voice. And she is so beautiful. Simply fullfillment.

Beautiful and just as meaningful now in light of the recent Orlando terrorist attack.

THANK YOU! Ms Graves!
Outstanding performance and presence. I was totally impressed.
