"60 Minutes," the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10. "60 Minutes" has won more Emmy Awards than any other primetime broadcast, including a special Lifetime Achievement Emmy. It has also won every major broadcast journalism award over its tenure, including 24 Peabody and 18 DuPont Columbia University awards for excellence in television broadcasting. Other distinguished awards won multiple times include the George Polk, RTNDA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Reporting. "60 Minutes" premiered on CBS Sept. 24, 1968. Denice Graves is one of the kindest people and most generous artists I have known. Denyce always made time to talk to her fans. I saw her politely tell off handlers that were trying to usher her away from the “cheap seats” fans like me to get her to talk to the rich patrons. She is one of the best humans I’ve ever met.
I met her in 1989. She played the sorceress in “Dido and Aeneus” at the Wolf Trap Summer Opera Theater, and I had the best view you could get of her performance-as a member of the chorus. She took a minor role that is normally played as an old hag and transformed her into a seductive, show-stealing powerhouse. The review the next morning rhapsodized: “she has the makings of a world-class Carmen.” I remember asking her at the after party if she had ever tackled that role. “No, not yet, but I’d like to one day.” What a privilege to witness that talent as it was just bursting into full bloom.
She is the most beautiful woman.
She sang Deep River in tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as the Justice lie in state. Her performance was absolutely wonderful! ♥♥
She also sang American Anthem by Gene Scheer that was written especially for her and the lyrics were perfect for Justice Ginsburg.
