I was fortunate to have seen Callas on the last tour at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. It was an incredible experience. The voice, as she states, was not what it had been but her skillful use of it was just as great as it had been so the presentation of character through the voice was still extraordinary. What was also beyond expectation was how she used her body position, hand and head movements, and facial expressiveness to create the different characters she was singing. She became those characters without costume or makeup or staging. One could only imagine what experiencing her in a fully staged opera in her prime.
11:47 _"I think I'm not very difficult, I think that when you say no to somebody who wants you to say yes, then you become difficult"_ how wise is that
I heard an interview when she said she was putting a poker face and that sound wierd for her to say but she seem to be doing it here. You could see she is triggered by the personal questions as she should, but her strength of character allows her to make herself seem cool.
Callas should have run the Met. Bing should have listened to her demands because I bet they were all reasonable. Nobody cared about him. He was easily replaceable but she was one of a kind. Denying New Yorkers that talent that is one in a century should have been a crime and he should have been the one fired.
Maria war die richtige Griechische Frau über alles! Schönheit, Stimme, Stolze und Frieden bis zum Ende zu den Mann die wo sie verliebt war: Aristoteles Onassis!🤗❤️
It is amazing watching the interviews these modern times how misogynistic they sound… instead of celebrating this true genius, incomparable , divine voice - they gossip ab her private affairs…
Would a good business woman charge an exorbitant price, in excess of what is reasonable; excessive; extravagant; immoderate? Walking away from the table with nothing for gain? What if, for her own reasons, maybe even a rude Mike Wallace or station executive? Say no, and they beg, plead cajole, pry and twist at you, like vultures at dying, almost dead carrion. Incite a price above the stars in the sky? They walk away, shaking their heads at what might gave been.
Wallace shows no grace, no kindness, no real journalistic prowess :… he was a provocateur and a not very skillful one - Maria, on the other hand, exhibited restraint, graciousness and a kind of intellectual grit that was admirable
Zefirelli was so right :No one acts better than she does. And I strongly believe that when Callas was on stage (and I never saw her on stage) Callas was "out of this world". Bear in mind she didn't see very clearly She was shortsighted.. Only the Music led her. It must have been an almost religious experience indeed.
Gracias ❤❤❤
Angelina will play Angelina playing so and so. No, not looking forward to it much. However, I think Julia Garner could play a young Callas in a movie or series. She’d be great.
Angelina Jolie is actually quite good in “Maria,” but it’s a DREADFUL movie…In essence, a sadistic depiction of her demise. It should never have been made.
Challenging questions as it was normal at the time (nowadays interviewer are all a**licker). Callas is so cool and kind but she is also getting away without questions on the tour which notoriously showcased the harsh decline of her voice.

No matter how much Wallace tried to throw her off balance, as he always does, she was cool as a cucumber. And smart as a whip.

SHE SPEAKS WITH POWER AND AUTHORITY
"I do not cry with tragedies. I cope with them" ...... BRAVO !!!!!!👏👏👏👏
" your private life has not been as successful"
Maria: " no, not true"
Here Maria Callas confesses that she put men first, and that men couldn’t cope with her stardom ✨✨✨
We all agree that Mike Wallace got off on being rude as hell.
it's disgusting
8:45 stupid interviewer ......wonderful Callas❤

exactly yes
She’s so diplomatic. I would have leaved mid interview.
I agree, that man is terribly rude!
She handled it like a boss. It’s a testament to her integrity of character.

These questions are so insulting and rude, she had to put up with so much crap from male journalists and interviewers 😤
My difference beside ancient greeks is I don't cry on tragedies untill they happen. And if they happen I don't cry on tragedies. I cope with them✨

exactly! and that the public heralded mike wallace's interviews! awful.
She was so stunning.
Wished they had just paid her whatever she wanted to catch her on film!

A real man does not have to command

yes!
It’s too bad that Wallace focused on personal issues, rather than on *music!*
Does he even *know* enough about music to focus on that? He was a TV tabloid "journalist".

Bing said he Adored Callas and that any ill will was over long ago.
Mike Wallace as a thug and so is his son
Interesting Diva. A star extraordinaire.😊
She was a talker, she said many things when she spoke, but when it came to singing, in terms of "voice": little.
Can’t wait to see Angelina Jolie play her in the upcoming biopic!
Oh dear, no.
That's an assured mess

Now a woman has to learn to say no

MW raised the very. Rude Question of "Why she discarded her 🇺🇸 passport?"
Irrelevant Question
Did she smoke? Her voice sounds like someone who smoke a lot
Yes, she did smoke. I can’t imagine it must have been good for her voice.
those Waze marik is annoying
