A National and International treasure we can only be thankful for having known her. Her talent, beauty and personality she was "A woman for all seasons" and will be remembered as such. She was my crutch to walk me thru the swamp when in deepest dispair. Her voice, her strength helped me to go on and overcome. She was an embodiment of divine for me. RIP dear Jessye, you were from another world.
It brought me to tears. Her loss and her magnificent incomparable voice. To me, she was the voice of the 20th Century. I was in the Philharmonia Chorus when she sang the role of Jocasta in Stravinsky's, Aedipus Rex with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Seji Ozawa. I have never heard a voice like it. I met her after the performance and her charisma was remarkable as well. She was very gracious. I will never forget that evening. RIP Jessye.
