I cry every single time I hear this. I'm not even exaggerating. Literally every single time I hear this song I cry. This song reminds me of my grandmother that passed away. My mom wasn't around much when I was a child, in a way my grandmother was a mom to me. What really gets me is the lyric " I could die I love you so" that gets me every time. I'm a very cynical person, so you know when I say that my grandmother was the kindest human being in the world, I really mean it. She loved every human being or animal that she came into contact with. I love her and I miss her and her husband every single day of my life.

In case people don't know but Phil Everly has died ages 74. What a sad loss to the music world. Arguable one half of the greatest harmony/music duo in history
Not everyone has an ear for "Music".These two and many others, were the pioneers for everything that has followed since. This is a great song done by very talented musicians. You have the right not to like, just don't do it publicly because you only embarrass yourself!
Don't know how many of you know this, but those are basically the Crickets, Buddy Holly's original band, playing behind the Everlys. Drummer Jerry Allison & bassist Joe B. Mauldin.
These lyrics hit really deep. Think just for a second, the line “only trouble is gee wiz I’m dreaming my life away”. Think about how sad that is. Instead of living his life he’s laying there dreaming about somebody he really wants that he can’t have when he’s awake. Such powerful stuff. Truly inspiring music they had back then
It depends on your perspective. First, it's only a figure of speech (to dream one's life away) and he's just being figurative in the song lyrics just as most love song lyrics are figurative. But apart from this, many people are waking up to the realization that too much emphasis in life is placed on doing and achieving instead of dreaming/imagining and just being. Even Einstein famously said, "Intelligence isn't measured by a person's knowledge and achievements, but by their capacity to dream and imagine." There's nothing sad about people who are tuned into their creative selves and dream/imagine more than most. The sad people are those who strive to achieve goals in order to justify their existence to others and to themselves while losing out on ever connecting deeply with their own selves and imagination.
I was 12 years old when I first heard this song 🎵. It takes me back to the 50's. Such a great era because everything was cheaper then. I remember I could get a coke for 10 cents. This song was playing on the jukebox the day I meet my husband. Good memories.
Impossible not to like. Clearly one of the top ten love songs EVER! This song takes you on a 3 minute romantic journey you never want to come back from. I’m a bigger fan of the 60’s music over the 50’s but the Everly Brothers could have released it in 60’s or even today in 2019 and it still would be a monster hit. Timeless.

My favorite Everly Brothers song of all time. It's a timeless beautiful classic. It was their distinctive voices blended together in gorgeous harmony that made their music so special. They were true originals. Paul McCartney said in an interview about them, that when he and the others first formed the Beatles they were each going to do solos. Until he heard the Everly Brothers. Then he realized the beauty of power of harmony. That changed everything for him. They inspired so many great musicians who came after them. Their songs have stood the test of time, the true measure of greatness. I am just grateful that there was a Phil and Don Everly. We were truly blessed. RIP Phil. Thanks for the music. Don, condolences and stay strong. Thanks to you, too, for the music.
Oh, what I would give just to turn back time when music was this great. I wasn't born until 1961, but nevertheless, I LOVE listening to The Everly Brothers, The Righteous Brothers, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, etc.
