i think tiffany is has a deep connection with the american culture rather than the korean culture cause she's totally different and more natural when she's speaking in english (her native language) s
i feel like tiffany is comfortable with american culture more that jessica. i mean, i know they're both from the usa but tiffany seems more natural in everything.
true, but just because she left sooner than Tiffany and came to Korea with her parent which is easier to learn Korean.. then she might forget a lil bit of English I guess...
I get how people could hate on her for always 'seemingly' want to get the attention on her, and how people could get upset and debate over who's more fluent, Jessica or Tiffany. I only like Jessica among all SM artists, but really, even I would admit that Tiffany is more comfortable speaking in English than Jessica. The reason is quite simple. Tiffany is an extroverted person. She doesn't shy away from anything (not really 'anything', but you get the gist). She would be more comfortable speaking in any language over Jessica who, as I see it, is the quiet and observant type. It's not a problem of fluency, but esteem (or, to be more precise on Jessica's case, of giving a f*ck, cause she looks like she doesn't most times). Tiffany doesn't seem like an attention-seeker. Like I said, she's just an extrovert. She's always bubbly, always eager for conversations. That's just her. And the debate over accent is just ridiculous, imo. Why would people even argue over accents?
i have a special place in my heart for the kidols who speak english like its always so surprising to hear their accents and when i discovered Tiffany i almost died bc her english is so good (ofc bc shes from the usa)
Okay this is gonna be a long one. You don't have to read it. A bunch of people always pin Jessica and Tiffany's English speaking talents against each other. What they don't understand is that, not only did they come from two different parts of the US (WAIT before you say anything, yes I am aware that they are both born in California, San Francisco--to be exact, BUT many people don't take into account that Northern Californians (Jessica) and Southern Californians (Tiffany, raised in Diamond Bar) do in fact have different accents.), but they also spent different amounts of time with Korean culture and speaking Korean. Jessica grew up with that culture and speaking Korean was always a part of her, even while she was still in the US. Tiffany was not as submerged and, if you knew her, did not speak too much Korean prior to becoming a member of SNSD. People point out that Jessica's pronunciation is better while Tiffany is more comfortable. Yes, to those who don't speak SoCal (Southern California) lingo or aren't familiar with English, Jessica's English is better, because she enunciates more as that's the way she learned English, so she's easier to understand. Tiffany grew up in SoCal where we definitely use more slack in our pronunciation. To SoCal people, Tiffany's English is easier to understand and definitely more natural sounding. I would know, I've been here my whole life. In a similar way, it's like all of us who learned, are learning, or want to learn various foreign languages, like Korean, for example. I'm sure many of you speak formally rather than how you would in a casual conversation. Your pronunciation is as clear as you can make it whereas people who've been speaking Korean for a long time can just zoom through informally while talking to their friends. In English terms...where one person would say "Hey, what's up?" Someone else might say "Hello, what are you doing?" which is clearly more formal. That's all I really want to say about it. It just comes from perspective, but they both obviously know their English.
Jessica had the accent of a Korean now. When it was year 2007-2009, Jessica is very quite "fluent" (I mean with her original accent as she speaks English). On the other hand, Tiffany, until now, they (the members and other label mates) say that she still lacks knowledge about South Korea's culture. I guess Tiffany's still got her American accent until now.
I just love listening to Fany speaking in English. It makes it easier to understand what she's saying without reading the subbed & only focusing on her pretty face! I love her eye-smile! I just love seeing her smile! She's such a sweet and amazing person! =)
+0 no Tiffany is much more fluent, you can see her speaking english naturally and making jokes. Jessica has a hard time expressing herself in english at times
I wouldn't say Jessica is Korean American. She moved to Korea when she was little and grew up in Korean family. Other than the fact that she went to international school in Korea, she would have been in touch with Korean culture more.
Why does it feel like her accent changed now... It has a korean feel to it now.. Well, I guess it's because she's been basically living in korea for almost 9 years now or so
Its really interesting to find out seeing 2 of them speaking in terms i can fully understand, i actually like them more, they sound very humble and witty
she was born and raised in a california suburb, she said she left America at the age of around fifteen (15) to go to Korea to become a Korea pop singer and her parents were against it. She was picked for SNSD around that time.
Thanks bro. You are the best brother I would ever have. That's a big sacrifice. For your big heart, I think you deserve her more than I do. I luff you. *I'm in tears.*
yo u could speak clearly if it's not you're native tongue.. Tiffany speaks better and more fluent that's why she's speaking it in a slang way cause it's her native tongue
Ah!! I've been looking for this video for YEARS!!! Tiffany interviewed two Israeli people, those Sharon and Amit were Israeli, thinking of Tiffany saying 'Amit', an Israeli name, that really makes me happy cuz I'm Israeli haha :P
@MelDiaz1995 they werent talking about yongseo!! lol they were talking about the guy that taeyeon married, i dont know who he is but i know he was a comedian :)
Thank you so much. You made my day. Tiffany and I are coming to see you tomorrow. You're a great guy. I would make Tiffany's happiness my number one goal in life.
Everyone is comparing Tiffany with Jessica ... what does have a whole another person to do with the another?? Tiffany speaks in her way and Jessica in hers. What the duck is not to understand?? I'm giving up in humanity really now ..
Interesting. Where does her Korean accent show itself in her English? When I listen to her speak English she sounds like other native speakers here near SF.
i think people get confused about tiffany's accent because she speaks english with a slight lisp. back when she debuted she spoke korean with a lisp too but it's mostly gone now.
Here we go again. Watching compilation video about an American girl speaks in english. What's so special when an American speaks english?.. SNSD Tiffany is American just like SNSD Jessica. They're both Californian Girls. Their nationality is U.S.A even their native country is South Korea. Don't you know that?..
Well the girls are K-pop stars, so when we see them in the public eye, they are usually speaking Korean. Despite their United States backgrounds, there isn't a lot of footage of the girls speaking in their native language, English. I just think there is a fascination of hearing the girls speaking their first language since they usually speak Korean most of the time. And there's nothing wrong with that :)
I accidentally clicked on this and was about to go back but decided to watch it to see if there would be any funny cuts and laughed right from the beginning when Sooyoung awkwardly said hi will eating :'D
Well, "ethnicity" actually refers to someone's customs, culture, language and dialect, not their biologic or genetic reference. Even though (aside from Native Americans) all Americans are immigrants(or descendents of immigrants) from other countries, we do have our own very unique culture and customs and accented dialect and language. That's like saying someone can't be half German. Tiffany is Korean American since both her parents are Korean, but someone can be 1/2 American.
(cont.)American because a person's ethnicity is partially defined by the language they speak and the culture they share. Your NATIONALITY is that of whatever country you are born and raised in. If you were born and raised in Canada, then you are Canadian, regardless of your race, ethnicity, heritage, or genetic make-up.
i think tiffany is has a deep connection with the american culture rather than the korean culture cause she's totally different and more natural when she's speaking in english (her native language) s
Tiffany came to korea, with 14/15 yo, She spend an hard time, bcuz she, didn't like the korean culture
i agree nigga!!!
Jeric Rauces you aren’t black, why are you saying nigga lmao
Tommy Hass what the hell does rap music have to do with anything lmao
They have no idea how lucky they are meeting up with them lol
ikr..!
i feel like tiffany is comfortable with american culture more that jessica. i mean, i know they're both from the usa but tiffany seems more natural in everything.
fashionsucks jessica left when she was still 10 yrs. old..
Tiffany has lived in America for longer than Jessica
and whenever she has no schedule in korea, she goes back in LA.
true, but just because she left sooner than Tiffany and came to Korea with her parent which is easier to learn Korean.. then she might forget a lil bit of English I guess...
Jessica doesn't seem like a talkative person
I get how people could hate on her for always 'seemingly' want to get the attention on her, and how people could get upset and debate over who's more fluent, Jessica or Tiffany. tiffany is so talented
i have a special place in my heart for the kidols who speak english like its always so surprising to hear their accents and when i discovered Tiffany i almost died bc her english is so good (ofc bc shes from the usa)
+Viveca Antila what'd u say about Ailee, they're both half-American... :v :v :D
+0 yesyes I know her and I actually am a fan of her too! :)
Okay this is gonna be a long one. You don't have to read it.

nailed it
Agreed.
lmao that caucasian girl in the beginning didn't seem keen to socialize with Tiffany
I find Jessica's accent more natural... but Tiffany has wider range of English vocabulary and she sounds more confident

Tiffany just seems really sweet.

I just love listening to Fany speaking in English. It makes it easier to understand what she's saying without reading the subbed & only focusing on her pretty face! I love her eye-smile! I just love seeing her smile! She's such a sweet and amazing person! =)

Just my opinion.

+Yến Nhi Phan agree.... prefer Tiffany's english..
+Yến Nhi Phan but I think Jess was more fluent, Tiff is just using basic/easy daily life English, while I watched Jessica she's more fluent....
+0 no Tiffany is much more fluent, you can see her speaking english naturally and making jokes. Jessica has a hard time expressing herself in english at times
wahhhhh.... fanyyy so coool... her english voice is like hypnotizing me, and making me smile the whole time.. :D
I wouldn't say Jessica is Korean American. She moved to Korea when she was little and grew up in Korean family. Other than the fact that she went to international school in Korea, she would have been in touch with Korean culture more.

Tiffany is better
she was born and raised in a california suburb, she said she left America at the age of around fifteen (15) to go to Korea to become a Korea pop singer and her parents were against it. She was picked for SNSD around that time.
I could spend all day listenig to Fany's english *-* Love her so much
"Unable to participate in the conversation, Sooyoung can only eat." Story of her life.
Thanks bro. You are the best brother I would ever have. That's a big sacrifice. For your big heart, I think you deserve her more than I do. I luff you. *I'm in tears.*

Do those people have any idea how lucky they are to be interviewed by Tiffany?
@ 0:22 the model was just asking about them and have no idea how big snsd will become on that time. im sure shes a big fan now.
My Bias😻😻
she's been learning ever since she entered SM entertainment she's still learning now. i think it was in 2005?
Interesting. Where does her Korean accent show itself in her English? When I listen to her speak English she sounds like other native speakers here near SF.
i think people get confused about tiffany's accent because she speaks english with a slight lisp. back when she debuted she spoke korean with a lisp too but it's mostly gone now.
What show is that in the beginning where she is talking to the model and asking the people on the street about their style? Please and thank you! ^^
Tiffany is really show off when it comes to english but still love her
did NOT expect such a strong accent!

I love when Tiffany and Jessica were talking about Yongseo in 04:53 ♥
Tiffany!!! I lOVE YOU!
Here we go again. Watching compilation video about an American girl speaks in english. What's so special when an American speaks english?.. SNSD Tiffany is American just like SNSD Jessica. What show is that from 2:43 till end? I really want to watch it full can you give me a link please? thanks!
what a nice way to explain it!
i love her accent!!
I HAVE THE SAME GREEN SHIRT IN THE BEGINNING!!!!!
I accidentally clicked on this and was about to go back but decided to watch it to see if there would be any funny cuts and laughed right from the beginning when Sooyoung awkwardly said hi will eating :'D
I just realized im watching an american speak english for 6 minutes. O.o. But shes pretty so it was soooo worth it :3
So tiffany was born in america? her english is so fluent
she fluent english, cause she's Korean - American. she has just studied Korean since she was 15.
AAAAAH! I LOVE TIFFANNYY!!!
@TaeViiShiDae Where can I find the full interview with Fany/Sica where they have the words "KBS World Radio, It Brings Korea to You" behind them?
i think its Jung Hyungdon when Taeyeon was in ' We Got Married'
I love how her voice changes when she speaks english ><
they sound sophisticated when they talk in english. different when they talk in korean.
I wonder what the people that Tiffany talked to are thinking now, since they debut in USA now.
yeah jessica's from san francisco and i think tiffany's from like san bernadino or something? closer to LA than san fran
that prada guy should be proud of himself that he had an interview with Tiff
Tiffany definitely has a Californian accent and way of speaking.
@snowell28289 i knoww right, shes so good at everything? but how do u hear her accent? i dont thnk she has one
Tiffany: "Hi. We're actually Korean singers and we're just doing this for experience, working as interns"
Girl: "Cool story, bro" *not giving a fuck*
then what would her nationality be if one of her parents is in the US and one is on Korea and she went back and forth?
Well, "ethnicity" actually refers to someone's customs, culture, language and dialect, not their biologic or genetic reference. Even though (aside from Native Americans) all Americans are immigrants(or descendents of immigrants) from other countries, we do have our own very unique culture and customs and accented dialect and language. That's like saying someone can't be half German. Tiffany is Korean American since both her parents are Korean, but someone can be 1/2 American.
i don't care if she was born in America
i love hearing her english !
u r a genius man lollllllllll i couldnt stop laughing at ur cmt lmaooooooooooo
Yeah, she grew up in California, so good catch on the accent.
What is the show called
@97jaygirl Both Tiffany and Jessica are born in America then later on moved over to Korea :)
I Love You Tiffany
Tiffany is completely Korean and completely American; Korean is her ethnicity, American is her nationality.
Lmao with the first guy she interviewed. Everything is PRADA.
HEY that model i have seen her before omg i think she is in dolly or that girl that was scouted omg cool what a small world
sooyoung looks so funny in the beginning!
what song was Tiffany talking about where se was like "it doesn't sound like us"??
