Well I've been living in the US all my life and Jessica's English is perfect in fact if I was talking on the phone with her in English I wouldn't know that she was Korean American, so I don't know where you people are getting off on that she's not speaking perfect English, or has an accent or is timid it to speak english, all of y'all are full of crap
same here - i've been living in canada since i was one, and her english is perfect, although if i was speaking to her on the phone, i'd recognize her immediately and be so happy to hear her voice cuz it's just so beautiful! :)
I agree, I think people just think she doesn't speak english well because they compare her to Tiffany who is more talkative. If you compare Jessica's and Tiffany's english, Jessica speaks in a more proper and professional manner and Tiffany speaks as if she's a college girl. Tiffany tends to respond to questions right away with barely a thought and Jessica tends to think about her choice of words before speaking. I feel like it's more about personality than skill.

Although she moved back to Korea when she was 10 or 11, she studied in an international school with Tiffany so she actually keep speaking in English when she got back to Korea. And Tiffany once said that they tend to communicate in English too

I think its more so for the fact that when she was in SNSD she wasnt really the one to talk when interviews happened and when speaking for interviews she had to be careful of her words. Also she awkwardly articulates her words as well because... That's just how Jessica is when she's in an unfamiliar setting. Of course now that she's on her own she has a stronger confident voice.
yeah I just checked out her interview in Thailand and yes she is a lot confident now.. I guess she got used to the situation haha :)
No she said it one of the interview that it's hard for her to do interviews and words can't come out the way she construct it in her mind even in korean that's why she always quiet andlet other members speaks more.
But now that she's alone, I think she's confident now in carrying an interview than before

It's so hard to find Jess' video clips where she's speaking in English because she tends to be shy when they are conducting interviews (w/ SNSD) and at the same time, she don't need to say a lot since the other members are talkative and mainly handle the conversation. quick question what episode of hello baby was that when she called her mom?
I know she was born and raised in California and so she speaks English fluently but why does she seem hesitant and nervous when speaking it at times?
she moved to korea at 10 or 11, so she probably hasn't been speaking english much after that so her english level, athough good, is only about the same as that of a child or young teenager

Where I live school is divided into primary and secondary so I'm not sure what age she would have been in middle school, I just know that shes been living in korea since she was 10/11
I find when knowing multiple languages fluently (for me its 2) when you speak one language more often, in Jessica's case since she's living and working in Korea, it would be Korean, it is confusing to go back and forth with the 2 languages. Even if her native language is English, the Korean sentence structure is almost the opposite to English, so I can see why she hesitates on words and stutters. I do it a lot, lol!
Lian Saha i've been living in canada since i was one and by the time i was 8, fluency in english sticks with you. i had an art teacher who taught english in china for only 3 years, and he can speak fluent chinese. because if you live there for over a year, it becomes a requirement, a necessity, for you to speak that language so your fluency in that language will not change just cuz you live somewhere else. especially since those ten years she spent in america were her childhood years - things you gain during your childhood sticks forever
