It’s criminal that Ralph Fiennes has only been nominated. If even Matthew McConaughey can have an Oscar, Fiennes certainly should have one by now. Edit: I just watched ‘Interstellar’ for the first time and take back my jab at Matthew McConaughey. He was phenomenal.
great cast, at the very least. i wonder if they will present the origianl version of Odesseus, him being a scheming, betraying, cunning man driven by ego and self-preservation alone, or is he written here as an honorable man?
What is with movies still sticking with "The" insert single word, as the title of a film? How about The Return of Odysseus? or The English Patient pt. II.
I absolutely Love Ralph Fiennes, he is truly a brilliant Actor, but I wish they had kept Sean Bean as Odysseus he played and suited him soo well in Troy
Swan Bean is a very good actor, but he does not remotely have the acting chops of Ralph Fiennes, who is easily one of the best actors of his generation. And I say this by the way as someone who has been a HUGE Fan of Sean Bean, from Sharpe to Patriot Games to Borromini to Alex Trevelyan (Goldeneye) to Ned Stark and everything beyond.
@@madnessintomagic Unless you believe that gods like Poseidon, Zeus or Athena are historical figures, any story involving them can hardly be counted as "historical". It's only historical in the sense that Greeks at the times believed in their reality and intervention in human affairs. But both the Iliad and the Odyssey are hardly historical accounts of factual events, as exemplified by Achilles. He is a demi-god, son of a Nereid, a sea nymph, and a human king. She makes him immortal by dipping him into the waters of the Styx (the river of the Inferno), holding him by the heel, which will be the only vulnerable part of his body. And Achilles will be raised by a centaur... If you believe all this is real, then The Iliad and the Odyssey are indeed historical accounts...
@@jackatkI meant historical fiction lol which is usually based on some truth and requires some research on past civilizations. But that’s good enough for me. History is way more interesting but you have to seek that out these days which is fine.

C'est vraiment honteux de faire des films sur l'antiquité gréco-romaine en langue anglaise ! Ça n'a aucun sens! C'est comme si vous fesiez un film sur la vie de Shakespeare en langue chinoise.
I translated this story I read the story and I never got, how it has interested and facinated so many. It is a collection of dull tricks and a violence and a blody ending with no caracter development whatsoever. Just a soapserie set in ancient Greece. another modern movie-making excuse for violence and revenge, the trailer for which leaves little to the imagination. the original story is about a clever but arrogant man who defied the gods and was set to wander at great length on his journey home. for a more thoughtful treatment with subtle, memorable acting, see the 1997 version of "Odysseus" with Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, and Isabella Rosselini.
"original story is about a clever but arrogant man who defied the gods and was set to wander at great length on his journey home" With um, a lot of "violence and revenge." That's in the original pretty heavily.
The original story is not the story of a man who has defied the gods : actually, he has defied none of them : he has just blinded Polyphemus, Poseidon's son, who asks his father to revenge him. Ulysses did not even know Polyphemus was the son of a god. For the rest, the Odyssey is also the story of a final revenge, a violent massacre : Ulysses not only kills the 40 suitors, he also executes all the servants (men and women) who served them during his absence. Anyone who read the Odyssey remembers this violence. And for me, the best adaptation, so far, is the one by Rossi and Brava, full length story, many episodes, in 1968.
They both starred in the iconic an English Patient. I’m here for it
They also starred in Wuthering Heights as Heathcliff and Cathy.
Don't forget Wuthering Heights in 1992!!!
Yes! But the truth is Juliet binosh had already been an iconic actress before the movie EP. If u are an art film fan, u know what i mean 😊
@@guitardiary12 It's not a question of Juliet already being a famous actor. It's what she and Ralph had done prior to The English Patient.

WOW! The most "realistic," age-appropiate Odysseus & Penelope. Stunning actors. Can't wait

Agreed. He was amazing (unfortunately) in Schindler's List.
@ He was robbed. I love Tommy Lee Jones, but he didn’t deserve to win for his performance in ‘The Fugitive’ over Ralph Fiennes’ in ‘Schindler’s List’
With all due respect who cares about awards. He’s ralph fiennes.
I would say a few.
If I see this it would only be for Binoche. She's one of the best actresses out there.
Juliette is aging gracefully and beautifully
I came for Fiennes and stayed for Binoche.. finest actors of their generation
Wow, Ralph Fiennes as action hero... I'm down for that!..
Oh! Juliette 👐❤! Super! Magnifico!💯👏
Good clasic of the universal historic of greece and mediterranean history thanks for this nuestra cultura
Casal maravilhoso... será uma honra assistir aos dois juntos novamente ❤
I’ll watch anything Juliette Binoche is in not even gonna lie
Must go see this movie ❤❤❤
Great casting. I'm looking forward to watching this.
Right on time for the Oscar race

Homer's Odyssey- loosely based on mel Brooks' 'Blazing Saddles'.
Fiennes is only academy award nominated? I thought he had won one! Travesty!
Speaking of RETURN Binoche & Fiennes have worked magic together 3x
Wuthering Heights (1992)
The English Patient (1996)
The Return (2024)
And Nolans next movie will be about Odysseus, too?I'm interested...😇😙
This looks good
Οδυσσέας 💪🏻🇬🇷❤️

the whooole movie??? come oon...i read the book and you spoilt more in this trailer than the whole book....
But we all know the story
Looks like Voldemort turned his time turner back a lot longer than expected
wow, the english patient's casts re-unite... and after conclave, ralph fiennes has another movie? double wow... 😁

If he was so clever, why'd it take him 10 years to sail 5 days?
Because he had an ego the size of a mountain and spurr a god, Poseidon, who sent him flying so far away that it took him 10 years to return.
Intervention, the divine kind
Sea Monsters, sirens, and cyclopses can do that to a voyage.
is it a trailer or movie summary
