Thank you for a very thoughtful and appreciative review of one of my favorite movies. I've always loved old films. I discovered this gem back when no one else, it seemed, knew of it's existence. I did a lot of babysitting as a youth. Each week I would scan the TV week magazine published in our local paper, for movies being broadcast that week, particularly during the times I'd be babysitting. I knew to look for stars like Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Bette Davis, William Powell, Katherine Hepburn, etc. And as you said, this movie was shown a lot. I introduced it to my family,(to my surprise, my parents had never heard of it) and they all loved it. I'd recommend it to friends, and later, clients I met at work. No one had ever heard of it back then. This was in the early eighties, after I'd found it as a teenager in the seventies. When VHS came along, I was so excited to have my very own copy of it, and watched it religiously every year, especially after I married and had kids. We'd all watch together. It's part of the reason my sons, to this day(they're now early 30s), have an appreciation for old movies, which is sadly lacking in many young folks.
