  • Using two Browning Buck Mark pistols (hunter and contour) we compare precision shooting at 15, 25 and 40 yards using a Burris Fastfire 3 RMR (Ruggedized Miniature Reflex) and the TruGlo Fiber Optic sights.

    Overall I think they both did quite well. I did see the red dot group tighten at the longer distance, but the open sights still worked well at that yardage. Thanks for sharing.

    Great test! I'm sold on red-dot at 40 yards, I get great results at 25 with open sites. I had the same problem with failure to eject, cleaned my magazines along with my firearm and didn't have the same problem next time

    I love this video, thank you. I am curious how much of this was not needing to reset your hand after every other shot?

      Thanks for watching James! One of the great things about doing these videos is that I get to critique myself on how I shoot. Before watching my videos, I didn't notice how much I readjust my hands when shooting. I've tried to start using a more aggressive grip, especially when doing rapid fire.

    I had bad luck with Norma, the once time I bought it on sale. There was so much extra lube on the casings that it wouldn't feed through my Buckmark and I set it aside to only shoot in my .22LR revolver. I think the real test between iron sights and a red dot on a carry gun is how quickly you can acquire the target, and accuracy would be like a 2nd or 3rd concern. I'd like to see that test: testing the speed of two pistols and accepting "combat accuracy."

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  Год назад

      I plan to do another test like that soon. Plus one using laser sights on a defensive pistol. As for the Norma, it seems to have the same smell as Aguila, so I expect it has a similar lubricant on it. It has done well out of some of my rifles and pistols so far, although I never shoot more than 50 rounds or so at a time and always clean out the chamber and bore. That's why I always have to shoot a few rounds out of my 22's after cleaning to get the point of impact back on target.

    • @frankhinkle5772
      @frankhinkle5772 Год назад

      @@texmexshoots But I've had no problem with the Aguila, except getting the Chinese puzzle box open. i don't see any difference in the different bullet weights, all of the Aguila works.

      @texmexshoots  Год назад

      @@frankhinkle5772 LOL. I agree! I've never been able to open a bulk pack of Aguila without tearing it somehow. I may have to do some extended testing with Norma to see how long before it starts to gun up the action.

    I am looking for a fibre optic front sight for Contour, did you know where I can find one? I found some but they are not suitable for Contour. Cheers

      Glad you liked it. Browning sells the fiber optic front sights, but don't think the standard sight will fit on the Contour. However after researching at some of the forums (mainly rimfirecentral) there is an after market one available out there:
