So i got the APX A1 compact 6 months ago. It now has over 1000 rounds through it and it's a dream to shoot. Smooth, accurate , level, very controllable. It is an awesome gun. Folks have fussed over the trigger but after shooting a walther PDPF, I can say with confidence that I prefer the Beretta. Some will disagree with me , and that's OK. The APX A1 compact is now the first thing I grab when I need to do a perimeter check.... its reliable, durable, and fun to shoot!!!

Thanks for watching Keith! Although I do complain about the trigger in the video, I have since made two more videos using my APX A1 testing out different optics. The latest one should post this Friday. I can now say that the trigger has improved immensely as I have put more rounds down range. Seems it just needed a short break in.

Just got one. Love the look and feel. My true cost was only $260. Not a fan of the trigger. Tended to shoot low and left more than normal. A heavy trigger isn’t necessarily a bad thing on a SD edc. My armed encounters of which I have many were within the length of a car.

I'm a little disappointed on the accuracy with the Beretta, but when you got to shooting steel it seems to be improving. So it might be a break-in issue and as it gets more use and you get more trigger-time, it might become your favorite carry pistol. I am impressed by the CVLIFE red dot. Thanks for taking us shooting and showing how to dial in the new sight.

Hmm 🤔, groups on open sights seem pretty normal, but the red dot (IMO only) seem a little too large, inconsistent. Ammo, shooter, or gun?🤷‍♂️🤔. I can’t stand those rubber/wood inserts, but to each his own. Hogue grips, wood or their “rubber” grips (stocks?) just work better for me. Glad you were shooting at 35 yards. I can’t stand folks shooting at @ “7” yards! If your pistol & you can’t make a group of 2-3” at that short distance, you need to spent some more time at the range shooting! 35 yards, excellent. I like 25 - 50 yards, cause if you can hit from there, 7 yards is a piece of cake. Thanks for the video 👍😎.

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked it. I agree that the Hogue grips are superior to the wood insert grips. For some reason I fell in love with their look back in the 80's when they first became popular and that is why I have them on both those revolvers. But truth be told, I'd shoot them better with Hogues. Especially in 357. The big rubber grips make them much easier to control.

@@texmexshoots I have only the one rifle in .22LR, a Winchester 9422 with a Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 scope on it and I love it. While it is far from a match or precision rifle, it is capable of 1MOA on a good day but not always. I tested Eley Match, Tenex and Lapua Center-X, but it does not do better and I need a precision rifle to get the full value out of any of those, so I stopped testing the expensive stuff. Racing fuel does not make a slow car faster and precision ammo does not make a sporting rifle a match rifle. The best ever I got from the 9422 is 7mm (0.54MOA) at 50 meter and 15mm (0.52MOA) at 100 meter (109 yard), all with the CCI SV, but I could not repeat it for now. I would like to have a Marlin 39A and a Browning BL22 as well but they are not common here.

Thanks Tex Mex! LOL I was thinking this was the full review. That's what I get for not reading the title completely. We'll it leaves me something to look forward too. So I prefer these "enclosed" red dots like this for my turkey hunting shotgun. It keeps the trash out. I have a reflective TruGlow on my shotgun and it works great, but is exposed to getting dirt or leaf litter in it blocking the laser from projecting the dot on the reflective screen.

I agree. Although they make some great Reflex style sights for pistols, I would prefer enclosed ones for them as well. Just easier to maintain.

Do Revolvers like a 38 special need less maintenance?

    • @texmexshoots

Not necessarily. It depends on what you compare it to. However, all in all a 38 special revolver does not require too much maintenance.
