We all love you "this much" Claire! Aaron is just the lucky guy to have you to himself ! (you're lucky to have him too ;-) ) Aaron's cooking, teaching, presentation , and your "in depth" reviews and reactions bring the videos home for us!!! Lovely to see you both and your love of cuisine, cooking, and culture. Thank you both! My son and I try all of Aarons recipes and share Aaron's book . All winners!!!
I made this today and it was so yummy! I have tried other doejang jjigae recipes and this has been the best. I'm mexican cooking for my korean boyfriend. Thank you!
Since I started getting back into cooking about 2 months ago, I've watched more of your videos than any other recipe videos combined! I love your "catch phrases" Aaron. Don't worry about it. 😊 And your English accent and inflections make them all the more hilarious. Such a shame it took me until 2023 to find your channel! ❤ Much love from Pennsylvania in the US.
Aaron, I cannot get Korean Radish here in England but I can get Japanese Daikon easily. I know it will not taste the same but this what I have to use. Potato is plentiful in England as we love our potato. I am going to cook this and as for the meat, I will buy a brisket and slice it, myself. Love to you and Claire, from England
Aaron! I received your book as a birthday gift and bought ingredients to make this tomorrow for dinner. Im prepping now by watching this 😊 Wish me luck!
After watching many Korean movies and always they have food. I decided to try cooking and followed your recipes. Results family loved them. Thank you very much.
Just tried it, using the recipe from your book. I used frozen china vegetables I had in my fringe instead of of the radish and shrimps for the beef and it is still an amazing stew!
Greetings from Tampa Bay Florida, USA. Your doggie is adorable! This dish looks amazing and Claire truly looked deeply satisfied eating this. I think she was pleasantly surprised! I’m sold! I’ll be making this too. Hugs to both of you!
@AaronandClaire, I think you two are geniuses. I love your lessons, cinema and can imagine how your food tastes. I'm commenting from the USA. RAID SHADOW LEGENDS!!! Play it!
Really appreciate your cookbook and channel. 된장찌개를 첫번째 만들었어요. I’m getting less nervous that my lack of skill with Korean cuisine and inability to find ingredients like 단무지 will stop me from making a good meal. 된장과 chili crisp are my favorite flavors so both went in happily 같이. It’s not a traditional version with anchovy broth, etc but the flavor and fresh ingredients were in it. And 사랑 🥰 도움을 위하여 고마워요.
I always find myself dancing and grooving to your entry music. Well done Arron keep this amazing content coming. BTW I’m about halfway thru your book, my family loves the recipes!! Couldn’t have done it with out you brother!
id love some Jjigae for dinner, its just SOOO humid and hot in Korean right now. the thought of having hot stew is not appetizing right now. but i will definitely try this when the weather gets better. thank you!!!
I cooked this last night and it was 😋. Perfect for the evening on a uk wet day. I substituted for the chaldobagi with some marbled steak. Popped that in the freezer for a while and then thinly sliced it. Got lots of tasty oil and it cooked quickly.
I’ve always loved doenjang jigae - since before i knew how to pronounce it lol. Haven’t tried it with beef brisket though - looking forward to the video!
I decided to make this tonight, despite having to make many substitutions. Including the doenjang (I used 2 kinds of Japanese miso). It was delicious, and I am looking forward to making it properly. Also, good to know another way to use rice water other than watering my plants.
I’m a vegetarian and I’ve made this several times on rainy, cold days or when I’m feeling a bit blue. It’s comfort food at its earthy best. I just substitute the meat with both dried and fresh shiitakes, use the shiitake hydrating liquid, and add yondu and a little msg at the end.
I was once that whiny voice but this year I grew my own Korean radish! Highly recommend everyone try, very easy to grow, I am zone 5 and planted in spring and mid summer for two harvests! It’s like Super Mario 2 in your garden lol!
Aaron ! Im confused now... I thought I bought two dolsot pots to cook in/with at home, but they look a lot like your ttukbaegi? Is there one better? What is the difference? I hope im not using it wrong...
hey Aaron and Claire love your guys stuff I just have a question...I follow your recipe down to the tea and still some how I make it to salty. Can you give me a pointer on what I'm doing wrong or how I can make it less salty. Because I LOVE your guys food that you put out....pllzz help
@@davidchung9503 thank you for the intel I was just asking in general. maybe you can help one of the two recipe I love are Bulgogi Noodles and Soy Glazed Chicke both way to salty and don't know how to make them not so much salty
OMG, if you are enjoying cooking your own Korean food you MUST make this, AND if at all possible find an Asian market and buy the sliced beef brisket and shitaki mushrooms. The brisket was expensive here in Greensboro (US$17.99 a pound) but it goes a long way. I made this with all of the ingredients, including Korean giant green onions, I did leave out the chilies but it was absolutely the best dish I have made so far. Aaron, you are a great teacher. I will get 2 meals out of the ingredients listed and I will make this again soon. The Korean soybean paste is a must, if at all possible go to a good Asian market and indulge yourself, you won't regret it. I knew I should have married that Korean/Italian woman years ago... ah, regrets... 👍👍👍
Aaron and Claire!!! I wanna travel to Seoul! But how do i contact a Doctor before i arrive? Also are they any groups or anything i can contact and hangout with? Im from Denmark. Thanks guys love your videos ❤️🙏🏽💪🏾
@AaronAndClaire The raddish, that’s known as “Daikon” or “Mooli” here in England. Could you check that Daikon/Mooli is the same thing as the raddish you’re using, please? Our Daikon looks like a ginormous white carrot, and tastes mild and sweet, but works brilliantly as a good filler vegetable when I make soups and broths. 7:05
Best goddamn soup I’ve tried ever! I had the seafood version. Not sure I want to attempt this soup in the kitchen tho. One day when um not too lazy! I will leave it the OG Koreans to achieve that umami flavor! 🤤
I loved the video, but I think potato is also optional . I will go as far as to say that your eating experience will be enhanced if you skip the potato.
Does anyone know if I can substitute Soybean Paste with (white) miso paste? I still have some left over in the fridge and genuine Korean soybean paste is expensive and hard to come by where I live.
It won't be the same (especially with white miso). It's a substitute, but it doesn't have the depth and deeply fermented taste of doenjang. Some of the darker miso options would be better, but doenjang has a stronger flavor. Give the miso a try, but you can order a tub of doenjang for around $10 online, and it will be enough to cook doenjang jjigae for two 6 or 8 times. Good luck!
I made it just now with miso, for that same reason, and it’s totally delicious! I want to make it again sometime with Korean soybean paste, but it’s still really tasty with miso. 😊

Korea has some great soups and stews
Love the radish replacements!

New to this channel love that he makes fun of the commenters complaints in real-time lmao
Food is love.
quick question: i was cooking for many people and end up adding 10 cups of water. in that case do i add 15 tbsp doenjang?
I'd vote for Aaron as President. That's the influence his "trust me, don't worry about it" has over me.
Oh come on Aaron how can you do better in every video there has to be a limit to geniusness 😅looking amazing as always😋
Thank you for saying that 😍

The inventor of tofu was a genius. Can you imagine how many people he fed and is feeding without the need for meat?
Thank you for the recipe! Can I just cook the dish from the start using the ttukbaegi? 1 less pot to wash haha
Sure! No problem at all! 😁
Aaron and Claire!!!

Is there a big difference between korean soybean paste and miso?
Does it make a difference if brown tofu a little?
Where did you get your wok?
I am going to make homemade gochujang with less sugar (diabetic) so now I know what to make with the excess bean paste--- !!!

Is this spicy? I can only eat a little spice. But it sure looks good!
If you skip the fresh chilies, it’s not gonna be spicy! Don’t worry! 😉
I’ve made doenjang jjigae many times, but usually with pork, as beef is so pricey!
I want to cook this for the family, but I'm afraid I might not be able to find that kind of kroean beef here.. Is there any way of replacing it?
Any cut of beef would work. Don’t worry about it! 😍
