One of my absolute FAVORITE Korean dishes 🥹🥹 I don't eat pork so I normally go for seafood and mushroom tofu stew, but this is my best friend's favourite so maybe I'll make this for her birthday coming up!
Hi guys. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your cookbook. The section on sauces is worth the price on its own. I also love the way you organized it! Thanks so much.!
I made this a few weeks ago and it was literally the BEST 순두부찌개 I’ve ever tasted. The pork really transformed it! I’m going to make it for my family tonight. Thank you!!
This is my all-time favorite soup! I’ve never had the pork version. I always have the seafood one. Now I want to try this version. Claire makes me want this more!!! OMG i need this in my belly! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Sundubu jjigae is my favourite winter Korean dish..wobbly silken tofu is yum. Best part is breaking the just set egg yolk and mixing the golden gooey goodness into my steamed rice.😊
I got your cookbook for Christmas and watched your soondubu jigae videos. My stew was a hit in my house for dinner. Thank you for the detailed instructions and helpful tips. Can’t wait to try more recipes from your cookbook.
I made this yesterday and it is SO GOOD!!!! Could not get my hands on soft tofu, so I made it with regular tofu and it is delicious! I will definitely make this again because its ridiculously easy and also budget friendly. Also, tastes even better the next day 😁
I made this and the wife loved it. It was also as easy at it looks in the video. Things I learned: need to let the egg cook a bit on the stove since the soup isn't hot enough to cook it, thin sliced jalapenos worked well as garnish too, adding mushrooms and seafood makes this more delicious, and when saving the rice water, dump the first round of water or your wife will hit you.
My husband loved the flavor. He said it was better than having it from a restaurant. Plus, it was a quick make when you have all the ingredients on hand.
Darn! I already ate some of my Korean style soft tofu... guess I need to go get more... this looks delicious and I am looking forward to trying it when I have more of the ingredients!
Wow this is like my MUST order korean meal! Thanks Aaron for sharing the recipes and Claire for the honest review 😄 I’m hungry already………. I’m definitely gonna try this at home too!
This is too good! In Poland we don't have a lot of things from your kitchen. Sometimes in local shops during theme weeks we can buy for example kimchi. I found one and decided to try this recipe. I love it! Maybe it is too spicy for me but stl delicious!
I've made this stew quite a few times now using homemade kimchi, and I'm honestly surprised every single time at how utterly delicious and flavoursome this is considering how quick it comes together. Just so, so delicious 😋. Thanks for the great video guys.
Amazing! My family loved this! I only used a third of pepper flakes which was spicy enough, and my eggs sank, but very easy and the "wow" response rivaled Claire's. Definitely will make again. Thank you!
Wonderful! Sundubu Jjigae is a monthly staple since living in Seoul! I truly miss Seoul so much & by cooking, it brings the sense of Seoul to AZ for the meal!!! Happy July 4th! ❤🤍💙 Hi Aaron & Claire!
Lol i love the voices for the whiners 😆. Also I don't understand a lick of Korean but i always love listening to Claire do her reviews in Korean. She's so cute 🥰! And this dish looks amazing, I'm going to try making it!
Sundubu jigae is one of my favorite dishes. I first had it at a mom and pop kbbq. Then the next time I had it was at a American chain restaurant and boy, was that a disappointment! I started questioning if I actually liked the dish or if I was just misremembering?I learned to make it myself and my love came back!❤ I even got a ttukbaegi just for soups
Tq so much for sharing this amazing recipe. I have tried this today and it taste so good and tasy than ever. Start from now, i just cook from home. No more going to Korean restaurant, hehe.
Ok I’m a complete beginner and soooo clueless in the kitchen but I just followed step by step and it came out perfect 🥹 thank youuu Also it gave me so much more appreciation for Korean restaurants who make this for customers because it was sooo many different things to remember and I needed to rewatch the video so many times, so many dishes too!! 😭😭 def the worst part of eating this is the dishes… Also I cannot handle super spicy and the measurements provided makes this a perfect Mild spicy soup! And it serves about 3 bowls as well :) so having this tonight and the next two days :)
Just ordered your cookbook, should get here for my birthday! very cool. I was at your store and wondered why you don't have an "I'm not responsible" t-shirt, coffee mug or hoodie. if you don't get it, I'm not responsible!
Sundubu Jjigae is my favourite dish. I followed your other sundubu recipes and they are always my go to meal. It’s so delicious and comforting on a cold day. I can’t eat pork belly so I will use pork mince. I can’t wait to make this again with kimchi
This recipe looks delicious! Would Chinese cooking wine be an acceptable substitute for soju or sake? Is this a situation where "whatever you have in your kitchen; that's the best" would come into play? My son gave me your cook book for Christmas. We all love your recipes!
The fragrance of Shaoxing wine can be too strong, so I think water works better in this dish! By the way, you perfectly remember the line. I almost thought that’s me talking! 🤣🤣🤣
Omgoodness looks soooooo gooooood! Now, I miss my mom she is Korean and cooks like that for me when I visit her. Noo matter how hard I try I can’t make it like mom does 😢. So…looks like it’s time to visit mom in California!!! FYI : I envy Claire what I would give for my husband to cook like that and use me as the taste tester! 😂
For those who prefer fish sauce that does NOT taste like low tide + Limburger cheese (e.g. Viet Huong, Squid, Three Crab), please try Red Boat brand. While a bit more expensive, it is worth it!
Excellent. Those wee pots you bring to the table, remove the lid and the stew is still bubbling inside....impresses any guests 😉 but remember to let it cool down as it's still HOT 🤣
Yes! You can keep it in the fridge for 2-3 days and simply reheat it! 😆👍 (For more details, please check it here. aaronandclaire.com/kimchi-sundubu-jjigae-soft-tofu-stew-with-kimchi/)

You can use it to rinse your hair after washing! It helps strengthen hair, promotes shine and aids in faster growth. Don't use the first two rinses (keep those for your plants) but the 3rd wash is what you use for your hair! I know some people who even use it as a facial spritz/toner 🥰
Oh, I didn’t know you were KATUSA.👍 We have an amazing budae jjigae recipe, so if you missed it, you should definitely check this out! ruclips.net/video/o54DWLdfokA/видео.html
@@AaronandClaire I was an education counselor for the US Army, I'm retired now after 30 years. BTW, I just bought your book. Looking forward to trying some things.
This looks great! I havent used soft Tofu but I am going to try it out. Being new to Korean cooking, what do you mean by aged kimchi? I have read online that it generally means Kimchi that has been sitting around for a few weeks but what does that mean? Does that mean an open container of kimchi or an unopened container if it is store bought?
Damn this looks so good... And I mean... I why do I see this at 8:40pm when the stores are closed and I can't get the ingredients?! Aaron, please do us a favour and give us a Kimchi recipe we can do from home Outside of East Asia. I'll be happy to confirm which ingredients we can get in Europe if you have any question. But I'd say cabbage carrot & chili power, that's all ok, but that big raddish you guys have in Asia... it's tough to find it here.
I love how you use a baby voice for the ones afraid of fish sauce and oil 😂😂
Thanks my friend! 🤣🤣🤣
Whiners…. 🤣. Aaron forgot to say, “just hit the gym”
😂😂😂😂

Yes, enjoying the cookbook. Some recipes are more challenging to make, or wrangle the ingredients, I'll get to them. So far so yummy!
I love it, too! It’s a fantastic book and it’s so beautiful to look at. I keep it on my coffee table

Yum!!!!! Adding oysters or any seafood to that is heavenly. 😋👍
Just made this for 4th of July dinner. It is SO delicious!!!! Thank you, Aaron and Claire!

Wife made this tonight. It was amazing!!! Legit rivaled our fav Korean restaurant (and was way better than our 2nd fav Korean restaurant 😂)
I'm in Seoul right now and it doesn't matter that it's like an oven out there, I love this stew!
Hehe Yes, it’s like an oven here! 🤣 Please be safe here and have fun! 😁👍

Can you replace the whole spice paste with Gochujang?
Can you make this without pork?
Omg that is so delicious
I want to make this but I’m allergic to all shellfish which is in fish sauce. Would it be possible to just use soy sauce?
Absolutely not. The Fish Sauce Police will arrest you if you don’t use fish sauce. 😂😂😂
how do you season the kimchi?
as a Veggie i would leave the Bacon, but this is delicious.. Happy Weekend and many greetings from Brunswick in Germany 🙂
You can simply substitute with mushrooms. Like shiitake or oyster mushrooms will be a good substitute! 😁🙌
Can you put the ingredients for the paste in the description please?
