What Is It like to Rent a Car from Turo?

- Turbo Cayman's were fairly rare before the latest generation 718 models hit the market. While traveling recently, I found this nifty app for renting strange cars like this. It's called Turo and it's basically the Air BnB for cars. In this video I talk about my experience with Turo and whether I'd recommend it in the future or not.

So if your clutch is slipping you can rent the car, and blame the customer. Nice.
Wow, I guess Turo is a way to get a free clutch...if your clutch is going out, just rent your car out on Turo to some unsuspecting schmuck and wait for it to go out. :/

I wonder how they collect? I mean I assume they try and ding your credit card but you could do a chargeback. And a clutch for such vehicles could cost $$$$$ so make sure you use a card that has a low limit so worst case they can only ding you $1,000 or so...LOL Renting vehicle is a PITA, you got to deal with poor drivers that don't care if the engine light comes on.

@@Meekerextreme You're signing a contract to be liable for a debt owed, so they can refer you to a collection agency, which has a major ding on your credit rating for a long time. And before some say, "They don't even have my SSN so lol" The laugh is on you, because they have sufficient info just from your name and address. If the debt becomes quite large, they can also pursue a civil lawsuit for judgment and begin enforced collection action through wage or bank garnishments or more.
Like the guy above said, if the renter crashes your car only 50% of the cost is covered although BOTH RENTER AND OWNER paid full insurance. And you think they'd cover MAINTENANCE like clutches???
Sounds like a nice service, although sort of like an eBay-type deal. They don't seem to check all the cars. Once I was looking at what was supposed to be an M4 was actually a 440i debadged lol

Definitely a great deal, but is that it? Rental cars have loads of extras, and with Turo you pay just the price listed next to the car you choose per day?
expensive cars on Turo are rented out from owners who can't pay their bills. There is no way am I going to rent out my nice car to some stranger. airbnb for cars? people can't cause serious damage to your home without purposely doing so, so if there is any, it's a slam dunk case. Cars however, can break, can fail, can be hit, or can be mis-used.
I wouldn't want anyone else driving my vehicle's. Hell, I don't really let my parents drive mine

Lmao y’all sound dumb, you can’t buy cars like that if you can’t pay your bills 😂regardless of what you think 🤔 people are still paying for these rentals, thanking the owners for the opportunity and getting a FREE car out the deal, these cars book 90% of the time, people buy cars just for turo..not your personal car silly Willy, if you PAY your bills on time you’ll have good credit, get a great deal on a new car and place it on turo the same day, it’ll book at least 20 days out the month and pay you a decent passive income, enough to buy another car and generate more or cash out after a year and stop renting once it’s paid for itself and drive your dream car paid for or continue to rent and make 100% profit, you dont even have to pay the car note, some people just don’t like good shit 🤷🏾♂️

Great idea but I have to disagree with the clutch part, a clutch wears out over a long period of time, not over a few days.
That is not true... Depends on the driver, how they drive, etc. Someone that doesn't know how to drive properly or just abuses the clutch / transmission will significantly lower it's lifespan.
There’s a lot of mixed reviews on it. My friend rent one for 60 a day And we had no problem. You really have to rent it to see for yourself. Now having a car on the list for someone to rent your own car that’s different

I agree Turo is a Scam. I used it I'm telling you from experience. I listed two cars that ppl drove crazy and returned even with a crack pipe.

LA has the best cars to rent on turo, you could drive a 911 for $67 a day, and in other places the owners are asking for $200, smh

I need a new clutch soon, Think I'll rent my car out through Turo. I mean come-on, everyone knows the last one to hold the rope gets the blame but it's the 500 users of the rope caused the wear and abuse.

You wouldn’t be renting your car, you would purchase a car just for turo, within a year the car will have payed itself off and you never had to pay a car note, turo cars book 90% of the time, one trip of five days will pay your car note, Every trip after is passive income, 900$-1500$ a month after you make enough to pay for the car, all you have to do is drop the car off on time and keep it clean 🧽 it’s a business for individuals and it’s booming, people said the same stuff about Uber and look at it now, new world 🌎 brothas it’s time to get paid oh, turo is legit, they have trackers on the cars that monitor your speeds, if they burn rubber the app charges them for the tires 😂it’s so legit and money generating, the whole thing is set up to satisfy the owner as well as the customer but the customer is fully responsible for all damage, you heard the man in the video, he enjoyed it and had to be responsible or he would pay 💰

We are going to try it for the first time for our December break! Found a BMW 5 Series in Phoenix for 21 Days at $834! The crazy rental car dealers want $1,000+ for a small car and here we get picked up curbside and dropped off curbside.!

I've had mostly good experiences (80-90%), and a couple annoyances. I had one person who said I scratched his paint, but I had pics that show I clearly didn't. When he asked me to negotiate outside of Turo, I knew he was up to no good. Last time, I got an escalation over the weekend for $6.00 in tolls with a threat about it affecting my ability to rent. No way to pay it online! I had to call support, only to find they'd already charged me, so that cost me a half hour..
Seem's like a paid ad, didn't really describe the process at all.

What process ive rented a GTR an gave em my card info an my license an went an picked the car up an droppes it off what process do u want to know? Its all over the app an it gives u the cars location or u can have it paid to be brought to you.
Get your clutch or manual transmission fixed for free...rent it out on Turo.
They only pay out 50% on a car crash although both renter AND owner paid full insurance. And you think they're going to cover MAINTENANCE like a clutch??? All claims are dealt with by a third party insurer who never answers the phone or responds to emails....
what would be the finnal price ("The real price") for example if a car say $95 its only $95 or what would be a real price after taxes and fees. i just wanna have a real idea. any body can help?
Not accurate at all, most cars have a 2 day minimum rental so you’re looking at $190 then if you’re under 26 there’s a younger driver fee which would boost the price up to like $280, oh and then you have taxes which would bring it up to about $305, and then the minimum insurance coverage option would bring it to about $345ish
I had a quick question. When you rented this car for $150 per day. Do they have hidden fees such as insurance that needs to be purchased or was this covered by your credit card, or Turo provides this for both the lender and the customer? So if this car went for $150 a day as advertised having it for two days means you only spent $300 or do they include taxes at the very end totaling up with another couple of hundred with taxes?
Minimum levels of insurance are included with the rental, so what is advertised is what you pay, unless you opt for more insurance.

Great question. The way the contract is worded I think it would be hard to prove innocence even if that was truly the case.

@@anel8766 I looked into it and you can be under 25 you will have to pay around $25 extra a day. So it would be better to just do uber or lyft and spend a little less anyways or do the metro.

Turo is terrible. one bad thing on your drivers license like, a speeding ticket will literally not allow you to rent...

I paid extra for the car to be at the airport when I arrived. Every turo renter has a different policy. Some are pickup only and in that case I would have had to uber'd from the airport.

However Hertz has a ton of locations, and thus easy to exchange problem vehicles. I've gotten good upgrades from them just by pulling out of the parking lot and being like NOPE and going back in. You call Hertz at 2am they will be sending a Tow, you need a tow good luck calling some owner who probably is in bed and has his phone off. I've had Volvo rentals at hertz, free upgrades...I mean most people are renting because they are on vacation I don't give a damn what the vehicle is.

Turo is the worst company to do business on as a Host. They will jerk you left and right for every reason to not pay you when you're at no fault. In fact they will charge you for false "mislead information given". I have been a Host for a few years now and they have screwed me at least 5 out of 5 times when trying to go through their claim process. You're better off staying away from this company and finding another gig. I can say this with experience.
